Now I know what you are thinking: what is this, a cult of the personality page?
Well, yes and no. Mmmm... maybe more yes than no. It's like this: I have been told by some -ie: Hervé D.- that many visitors would be interested in learning a bit more about the people behind GW Addiction. Confronted by this overwhelming and statistically significant testimonial of one totally unbiaised friend, I felt it was my duty to satisfy everyone's curiosity. Heh heh heh...
First, the archiving team: coding and moral support's the name of the game (detailed author allocation and email addresses can be found in the complete authors' list)...
- babaca: a tireless GW fan who not only maintains her own GW site but manages to keep up with Willow's output while writing original fics and keeping an eye on the GWA bulletin board... I have no idea how she does it all
- Blue Lemming: starting as an all-purpose helper, she learned HTML on the job and now helps coding too in spite of a hectic real life
- Bonnejeanne: my very first volunteer (she was new to the fandom, she was misled, it was all a mistake!) she is my trusty right hand -aka the one who does all the uploading work while I laze about- and it is thanks to her that GW Addiction has its own domain name! Not to mention writing epic fics alone and in collaboration!
- Crazyglue: one of the first to volunteer, apparently was taken over by real life very suddenly and doesn't seem to be active in the GW fandom any longer... <sniffles> Goodbye and I hope everything is going well for you
- DaMoyre: she also moderates one or two GW mailing lists, keeps a watchful eye over the GWA bulletin board and created not only a GW recommendation page but also her own 1+3 society: all this and she codes lots of authors, too and writes! She is always ready to help and doesn't know how to say no, which -as you can readily imagine- makes it that much easier for me to take advantage of her time
- Leviathan: she moderates the GWA bulletin board, maintains her own GW archive and writes fics too. She is the most recent addition to our team and a very good one, too!
- Erin J: the second to volunteer, runs her own GW fanfic site and is a great sport, even if she's very busy in real life and was half-lurking until recently
- Kimmie: one of GW Addiction's most prolific authors, an active participant and helper at the GWA bulletin board and a really good egg! Too nice for her own good -like all of my other archivists actually- which is why she helps around the place, archiving and making lists, an activity for which she has an unexplained fondness
- Sheira Kagema: is unfortunately no longer active in GW fandom and doesn't reply to emails any longer... <more sniffles> Goodbye and good luck...
- Tiercel: the nicest, fastest and most devoted of archivists, she has been known to archive dozens of fics in a day... and her fics. are very good too!
Tyr: the usual suspect... if you find a broken link somewhere, the odds are good that it's my fault. Er... What else? Oh yes, I created and maintained this archive for several months before I was approched by a few innocent souls -listed above- who volunteered to help and whom I direct with an iron fist (in an iron glove): just ask any of them...
By now everyone must be wondering what my poor volunteers get out of this virtual slavery... The answer is simple: I pay them twice what I am paid myself for this back-breaking labor (ie, not a cent) and I love them to death! Seriously though, I believe our main incentive is the satisfaction we find in bringing entertainment to all of you guys in the form of lots of GW fanfics...
Next, the hardware! So, which impressive computer was this masterpiece of an archive created on and is currently maintained from, you ask? Well, I am the proud owner of a Sony Vaio PCG-C1VN, and I used to own a PCG-C1XN, a previous model in the same range and an exact lookalike...)
Ooops, nearly forgot: some honorary members of the team without whom the Gundam Wing Addiction experience simply wouldn't be the same!
- Silver: it is thanks to her generous gift of webspace that GW Addiction is hosted on an excellent private server and has escaped the evil clutches of Geocities and their popup ads from hell! Let's hear it for Silver, a goddess in disguise... I can see it now:
- What is she disguised as, pray tell?
- As a mere GW fan, when she is really a modern Maecenus, you cad! Tsk, tsk tsk...
- Joy Lyn: who maintains the Sephiroth GW archive (a GW Addiction associate website: didn't you ever wonder why Seph's section was the only one to use a black background?) as well as her own crossover archive
- Hervé Destrebecq: the founder of the SDDI, a great friend of mine (and a fount of great ideas)
- Reishin: just the nicest person around and a large part of why I love the GW fandom! Besides wonderful and hilarious fics, she also created several of the graphics/banners I use for GW Addiction
- Hachi Mitsu: she also designed several GW Addiction banners and as you can see from her site, this woman (girl?) is an artist
- Nixie the Pixie: who archives her own output and writes pretty good fics too
- Sparcck: also archives her own stories and writes a mean fic besides...
- Thanks are also due to a few on-and-off helpers: Princess Karei -now too busy to help, but maybe later-, Heavenly Creature -whose email address is not answering anymore- and Mai -who will be in touch soon, I hope!-
- and lots of others, because the Gundam Wing fandom is full of very helpful people! In particular, anyone who points out problems and broken links, thus ensuring that GW Addiction is as clean as possible! And the nicest authors to be found anywhere...
OK, all this openness and disclosure has made me really tired, so I think that's enough for now...
