Disclaimer: GW and all; its characters, cool or annoying, belong to Bandai and all those other people... Not myself. I suppose you could sue me... All you´d get was a house with a caved in ceiling and water in the walls... -.-;;;
Yes, what sprung this fic... There was a HUGE storm in Atlanta last night. We´re adding an addition onto our house, and in the process, putting new tiles on our roof. So, the tiles are off the roof, there´s no tarp or anything on it, and it rains like HELL. Water starts dripping through the walls. not good. It coming through the paint, behind the paint, bubbling UNDER the paint, through the ceilings, through the light fixture in my bathroom... I have to turn everything off, and then the circuits trip anyways... The next morning, our ceiling caves in on my father as he goes up the stairs. He´s all right, but we´ve got a HOLE in our ceiling. A big one, too. And we have to take paint off the walls cause the water is still between it and the wall, like balloons or something. We had no power for a long time. I wrote this by candlelight last night, and seriously freaked myself out by listening to the 'X' soundtrack. *sweatdrops*
Doing my part to make Vertical Horizon the band most used in yaoi/shounen ai fics... I think they already are, what with the ridiculous number to 'Everything you Want.' -.-;;;
Ano... I tried to be more Rilina sympathetic in this one, but I'm not sure whether it worked or not... *cough* It's not exactly a secret that I'm not a Rilina fan. It's also not a secret that I'm a HUGE 1+2 fan. ^^;;;;;;;
Warnings: Tad of yaoi/shounen ai, bit of good Rilina-ism
Pairings: Must you ask? 1+2/2+1 R+1 I suppose a bit of 1+R Everything's very faint, though
Archives: Anou... Whoever'll take it, I guess... GW Addiction and Darkflame, I suppose
Notes: Something in "" means speaking, '' means thoughts.
Oh, I cut out the refrain, and kept from repeating the verse thing that's sung twice. Everything's in here only once...
[So you sailed away
Into a grey sky morning]
"Heero, do you have to go? You could - You could have all this!" She gestured eloquently to the surrounding terrain of Sanq Kingdom, the broad expanse surrounding Wing Zero and the two, the distant buildings. A sharp contrast to the pleading in her eyes.
His eyes seemed to soften, but his face remained shuttered.
"Aa," he replied, before turning abruptly and climbing nimbly up to the cockpit, ignoring her short gasp of disbelief.
He exited her life as he had entered, a glimpse of steel and only engine wake across the grey sky to mark his ever being there.
[Now I'm here to stay
Love can be so boring]
She slumped into the smooth velvet of her chair, hands hovering at her temples as if to will away the stress by simply being there. As she was sure he could... Her mind wandered, creating fantasies where the world and space were perfect, at peace, and he was here, his brilliant blue eyes watching over her and protecting her. She was sure she could persuade him to come with her, stay forever, but she couldn't, now, abandon her duties as she had before.
'Where's the wonder, the passion, Heero? Love isn't supposed to be like this!'
[Nothing's quite the same now
I just say your name now]
She sat down too quickly after a long speech to a particularly unreceptive audience, resisting the urge to curl up and cry.
'Heero, I need your strength! Tasukete, Heero!' It wasn't the same anymore - Not as many people wanted to listen, even fewer were willing to act. Some days she felt like tossing it all away, giving up on earth and space to be with Heero forever.
"Heero..." But he didn't hear, as he never did.
[So you stole my world
Now I'm just a phony]
He leaned in a door frame, the wall support he would get nowhere else, watching Duo. The other pilot interacted easily, smiling at everyone, giving a meaningless phrase of greeting when necessary, flourishing in a world long given up on Heero. The soldier, with no need of - and therefore, not possessing - emotion.
'Supposedly...'
[Remembering the girl
Leaves me down and lonely]
Duo had collapsed onto the nearest flat surface - luckily, a couch - immediately upon arrival at their new temporary residence, too exhausted from life and the mission and mindless chatter to distract himself from his partner's silent cold.
She had shown up again - not physically, but their very mission had revolved around destroying possible rebels of the peace she had created.
Never did he feel more distant from Heero than when Rilina came up - the distance in Prussian blue, the stiffness that would be unnoticeable to most... But not himself.
Never did he feel more alone.
[Send it in a letter
Make yourself feel better]
She clutched the paper to her chest, the fingers of her hand picking nervously at her skirt. Although not entirely sure how it would get to him, she was sure the letter would explain; How much she needed him, how much he needed her.
'Kitto!'
[And it may take some time to
Patch me up inside]
'I failed...' it was repeated, a mind-numbing, cruel mantra, chipping away at him with every refrain. Paired with it was a single image, and explosion's backwash lighting his face eerily even as the accompanying fire and molten metal hurled him against his seat, knocking him unconscious for a short time.
He'd lost only a few seconds... but it had cost the mission. He stared at Zero as his mind ripped him up from the inside, feeling for once akin with the scarred and blackened alloy.
[And I can't take it so I
Run away and hide]
Abruptly he was jolted from behind, but a strange weight prevented him from striking back. He realized with faint surprise that it was Duo. The other boy had wrapped his arms around Heero from behind, and he could feel Duo's head on his shoulder. He tensed, but didn't otherwise react, slightly bewildered.
"You tried your best, Heero. Not even you could have done that much," Duo whispered. "Don't hurt yourself over it like this."
"I failed." His reply was short and simple, and he knew he kept all emotion out of his voice. He felt Duo's sigh against his back.
"The size of the failure is directly related to how hard the person tried, Heero... And what the person's done in the past. Always remember that, Heero." The arms slipped from his chest, and Duo stepped back.
[And I may find in time that
You were always right
You're always right]
He walked quickly away, sure to let no signs of his fatigue, physical or emotional, show. As usual, Duo's suspicions were right on the mark. Duo knew him to well... Despite what he looked, the braided pilot was one of the most clever people he knew, able to figure out the character even of his closed off fellow pilot. Maybe he was right, but after living for missions for most of life, Heero wasn't sure he was able to stop now...
[What was it you wanted
Could it be I'm haunted]
He stood, letting engine backwash tear at his clothing and hair, ripping free chestnut strands. Suddenly he realized thta he knew how Rilina felt, watching Heero leave constantly like this.
He shook his head, only half to clear wayward locks of hair from his face. Heero had looked half like he wanted to say something, but had abruptly turned and ascended into Zero. For some reason, Duo hadn't pressed it like he normally would have, and now he berated himself for it.
'Why...'
End
BWAHAHAHAAAAAA!!! I'm eeeeeevil! EEEEEVVVVIIIIILLLLLLL
Yes, that IS the end. Of that part, at least. *is considering a sequel* What do you think? C&C? I'd prefer not to clutter up the various lists, so please send it private mail. Preferably to rioroute_vilgyna@yahoo.com, but either siberian_b@gundamwing.org or siberian_b@yahoo.com (notice a pattern? ^^;;;;) would also be fine.
