Trowa sat alone in the OZ barracks before a glowing computer screen, hacking into the OZ main database. The large building on the outskirts of the city was relatively empty; most of the enlisted soldiers and new recruits had the night off and were out in New York, enjoying the pleasures the city had to offer. That left him pretty much alone and left to his own devices. That suited him perfectly.
He typed in a few passwords he had hacked out before, irritably brushing the hair from his eyes. 'Damned hair.. can't do a thing with it.' The screen before Trowa was flooded with names and aliases of thousands of OZ spies and other significants. He had quickly picked up on the fact that "Lina Inverse" was an assumed name and that was the focus of his investigations. But thus far, there was no mention of it anywhere.
Somewhere, a door was shut. Trowa looked up, then calmly downloaded the list he had found onto a specially designed minidisc. It may not have been of use for the current mission, but may prove invaluable in the future. He pulled the disc from the computer drive, terminated all information on the screen and stealthily removed himself from the room.
As the tall boy walked along the dark halls of the barracks, he hummed to himself a bit. Maybe he would give Quatre a call and see how his side of the search was going.
Elsewhere...
"This is the last time I'm coming to see you."
The elegant Treize smiled from his lounging position on the couch. "I recall you saying something along the same vein last time you came to me, dragon."
Wufei glowered a bit from the deeply shadowed corners of the fire-lit room. "I could kill you, now," he warned slightly peevishly, as if it should be enough for the older man that he was actually here.
But Treize only nodded, and swirled the bit of wine he had left in the clear glass, admiring its deep red color. "Yes, you could." Then he looked up into suddenly near ebony eyes with a joking smile. "But you won't, because you're passionately in love with me."
The comment apparently made no impact on the serious boy, who merely regarded the General Khushrenada with unreadable eyes. Inwardly, though, he was seething at how well the man manipulated his emotions. "I'm here on business, Treize."
"So it's *business* this time?" Treize sipped his wine, wondering what had brought Wufei to his rooms last time if it had not been business. "What can I help you with?"
The emphasis was not lost on Wufei, who tightened his jaw. He himself didn't know what had possessed him to come to Treize for help this time. Perhaps that he ran out of other options. Silently Wufei berated himself. 'You know perfectly well that coming here was the first thing you thought of, Chang. Stop playing these games with yourself.' Aloud, he said "I'm looking for someone called Lina Inverse. I have to contact this person by Thursday."
Abruptly Treize stood up and walked to a unobtrusive vid unit on a small table in the corner. From his place at the side of the couch, Wufei could make out the General ordering someone to do something. He strained his ears.
"I want a full search done on anyone with the name or alias 'Lina Inverse'... yes, 'Inverse'. As soon as possible, and... yes, that would be fine. Oh, and could you..." his voice dropped in volume and Wufei could no longer hear what as said. A moment later, Treize was standing before the Chinese boy, holding another (full) glass of wine in his hand, which he held out to Wufei.
"Why don't you stay a while, dragon?" He smiled as the boy glared distrustfully at the glass, then took it. Treize walked around the couch and sat himself down in a nearby armchair. "Make yourself comfortable, and we'll see if my search yields any fruit."
TBC
Wow, Trowa's part was small... well, I was inspired for the Wufei/Treize, so I kinda rushed... oh well ^_^. C&C much desired. See you tomorrow!
