Meanwhile, at the lush office of the New York City Winner estate, Quatre was doing Heero one better and slowly banging his head against a thick manila folder. A folder which incidentally held no information of use to him.
"Nothing, nothing, nothing..." he intoned with each slightly muffled thud. He stopped and let his head rest, forehead pillowed on the folder. The boy's clear blue eyes blurred as they tried to focus on the writing on the surface a scant few centimeters away. Quatre blinked and turned his head so that he could look out the ornate floor-to-ceiling windows that lined the side wall of the office. Dusk was upon the city and she was in the process of donning the first of her glittering jewels.
The NYC Winner estate was located near the lush Central Park in a large and elegant New Victorian building, built during the last half of the twentieth century. It had once been used as a college apartment house, but was remade around 100 AC after being purchased by the Winner family. The result: a comfortable safe house in the middle of a very large eastern megalopolis. Quatre blinked again and yawned with fatigue, his eyes clouding a bit. He brought his hand up and rubbed them a bit, sitting up in the large office chair. He glared at the offending folders scattered across his desk with disgust.
"Well, you're no help at all." Quatre announced to the innocent looking folders. They didn't answer him, of course, and for once in a long time he found himself at a loss. It was the stupid mission that was doing this to him. He had exhausted almost all of his sizable resources in the space of a single day. There was no mention in any of the Winner records of a Lina Inverse, no dealings, purchases, partnerships, no casual description, nothing!
He was about to start banging his head against the nearest hard surface again when he noticed the Incoming Call button blinking on the phone on his desk. Wondering at who could be calling him, Quatre picked up the receiver and pushed at the blinking button.
"Hello?" he said into the phone, hating how young and vulnerable he sounded. He could make out no sounds on the other side of the connection. Then...
"Quatre? Is that you, Quatre?" the girlish voice enquired.
"Who...?" the blond boy began, not immediately recognizing the voice. There was a merry tinkle of laughter.
"Baby brother, are you saying you don't remember your second youngest big sister, Paige?"
Quatre smiled to himself. Yes, he remembered Paige, the spunky, off the cuff sister of his who was always teasing him about being the only boy and then giving him candy. She was the one he tagged along after during childhood games. Paige had left for private schooling on Earth when she was 14 and he was only 11. He had no idea she would be here in New York.
"Paige, of course I remember you! How are you doing?" he answered with a smile.
"Oh, I'm doing fine and all that. What have you been up to lately?"
"Nothing much, since Father died. I've been hanging around on Earth mostly, going to Relena Peacecraft's school, that sort of thing."
"Sounds very boring," Paige said, her voice laughing. He could just imagine the smile playing on her lips. "Are you doing anything right now?"
"This very second?" Quatre looked at all the folders and papers littering his desk. "No, nothing terribly important."
"That's great! Why don't you come over my apartment? I can introduce you to some friends of mine, and we'll initiate you to the cult of the Big Apple!"
"Initiate me, huh?" The boy grinned, remembering all the "clubs" Paige and her friends had. "Just like when we were kids, right?"
She laughed, a sparkling downpour like summer rain. "I'll fax you the address. Come on over, ya hear? See you later, baby brother!"
"'Bye Paige" he replied, and then hung up the phone. He stared at the folders for a second, then pushed himself out of the chair. Visiting Paige would be a nice little break from work. Maybe, with a few choice questions, he could find out if *she* knew anything about a certain Lina Inverse.

Oh, the suspense! Will they ever complete this mission by the deadline? (god, I certainly hope so! >_<) C&C craved like a drug. Ja ne!
