Part Twelve: Quatre's Rage

Quatre was disheveled. His hair was mused, there was a bloody cut above his right eye and his face was darkened with soot and spots of dried blood. His combat pants were stiff with caked blood and the borrowed shirt he wore came almost down to his knees, the cuffs rolled back to mid forearm. He looked, almost comical, until you looked into his eyes.

The look in his eyes sent Preventer personnel scattering to fulfill the commands he barked over his shoulder as he paced through the main room towards Sally's office.

"...and I want General Yurst escorted to Commander Po's office immediately." This order was flung towards two Preventer MPs standing by the door. The two men looked uncertainly at each other and the one higher in rank stepped forward.

"With all due respect Agent Winner..." He began only to take a quick step back as Quatre swung around and pinned him with those ice cold blue-green eyes.

Quatre's voice was deceptively calm and soft. "You will go to General Yurst's office and escort him to me...NOW!"

Sally took pity on the poor men and added her own nod to back up Quatre's words.

"Do it."

The two MPs snapped smart salutes to Quatre and Sally then turned and headed out into the hallway. Quatre waited long enough to see them moving, then he swept into Sally's office. Sally trailed behind him watching, pale-faced, from the doorway as he called up the information he'd requested to her computer consol.

He hadn't said more then two words to her since they left the hospital. She could feel the tension in his small body, the guilt driving him along with the protective rage. Someone was daring to abuse *his* team and Quatre was going to put a stop to it and make those responsible pay. In these moments Sally saw the elusive quality that had made Quatre Raberba Winner a Gundam Pilot. The fierce loyalty, coupled with the iron willed determination to protect that and those for whom he cared.

Sally felt a chill run down her spine. If it were Heero, or Trowa these men who had dared to fuck with the Gundam Team would merely be facing their deaths.

Quick.

Clean.

Quatre's brand of justice would be dished out with a calculated viciousness that would cause a hell of a lot more pain.

Yurst came blasting through the doors with his usual bluff and bravado.

"What is the meaning of this Agent Winner!" Yurst bellowed, putting the emphasis on the word Agent in an attempt to put Quatre in his place.

Quatre didn't immediately look up from the file he was reading. Instead he left Yurst standing there like a raw cadet awaiting punishment for some infraction. Yurst stopped as if coldcocked. He was used to people jumping when he bellowed, or at least looking towards the source of the noise.

The moments passed and Yurst tried again. "Who do you think you are, to order me taken by MPs and brought down here?!"

Again, Quatre ignored the man, waiting till Yurst lapsed once more into silence. Then, when he had made it clear that he was acknowledging Yurst's presence on his own terms, did Quatre's eyes lift to look to the man.

Quatre let his gaze travel slowly from the tips of Yurst's shoes, up along his legs, torso and finally to his face. It was as in he were inspecting an interesting bug. Though Quatre stood a full foot shorter then Yurst he managed to look down upon the other man even as his blue-green eyes lifted to meet Yurst's angry gaze.

Fire in Ice.

That was the image that came to Sally as she looked at Quatre's face. The boy had complete control over himself but he was driven by an inner rage that would not be satisfied until he destroyed his objectives.

"Ah, General Yurst." The erie, quiet tone to Quatre's voice, matched to the look of deadly calm in his eyes broke Sally's nerve. She quickly skipped through the door leaving the two in her office.

Over the next hours, Sally and the Preventers watched in stunned horror as Quatre tore through their ranks. Starting with Yurst and working his way down through the command structure, Quatre linked together evidence that allowed him to instigate court-martial proceedings against half the Preventer command staff and underlings. Those he couldn't court-martial he strong armed into early retirement.

Once he was done with the Preventers, Quatre went after the politicians who had been pulling Yurst's strings. Here he employed his own political clout as he gave five well known officials two choices. Resign their positions or get destroyed to a point that L2 colonies looked like luxury living. Three of the five buckled almost immediately. The last two called Winner's bluff. Twenty-Four hours later, as they watched their well ordered lives falling apart around them, those two hold-outs took their own lives.
