2004 GW Addiction Angst and Fluff Contests: Rules
Yes, you read the title of this announcement correctly: this year the Angst and the Fluff contests will be run simultaneously... from now until October 15th. I hope this will give enough time for everyone to submit their entries.
I know, I know, you are thinking that I am crazy for starting a contest now when you are anticipating going back to school, but I do have some -admittedly pretty weak- arguments. To wit:
a. I will be out and about -on vacation- during the second half of September and I know you guys are at your most creative when I am not there to enjoy it. Plus it will keep a lot of you off the streets and ensure your social life disappears for a good while: your friends and family will thank me, I just know it! :)
b. If we don't get started asap, this year's contests will end up happening next year. I am just too good at procrastination, I fear...
c. All GW fans are of course old codgers long past the going to school age (just leave me my illusions, they keep me happy!) :DNow... the usual rules apply:
- Angst is does not necessarily mean the death of a major protagonist: I am hoping for entries that break the heart of the readers, not make them feel that the politically correct response is to be sad. To clarify: the readers should be affected and possibly weepy, not the characters themselves. Or not necessarily so...
- Fluff is the exact opposite: light-hearted fun is what we should go for! Entertainment in the purest sense of the word. ie, fun, not sap.
- Feel free to refer to previous year's definitions and winners (in the FAQs section of GW Addiction) if you are feeling a tad confused.
- Post without limits on the Bulletin Board and/or on the GWA_contest mailing list (as inline text inside your post, not as attachments) and please indicate of the subject of your post which contest your are entering like so [Angst contest] or [Fluff contest]
- Any pairings, any ratings: yaoi, yuri or het as well as no pairings. All are welcome!
- Only new fics (not posted/archived already): but you can of course post simultaneously to any other forum, ML or website. Sequels or prequels of existing fics are OK, but each entry should be able to stand by itself.
- No word count maximum or minimum and no maximum or minimum number of entries per participant
- deadline: October 15th, 2004
As usual the popular vote will be conducted through the GWA_contest ML and all winners will receive a neat banner/button as well as a selection of great GW-related prizes (if they trust me with their snail mail addresses). And the winning fics will be archived in the contest section...
Please feel free to publicize this contest to all relevant GW venues! (yes, this does mean harrassing all your acquaintances until they post an entry...) :D
