Disclaimer: Gundam Wing and its characters belong to Bandai, Sunrise and Sotsu Agency and are only being used for non-profit entertainment purposes. References to printed texts, films, sitcoms, musical pieces, and/or other fanfictions don't belong to the author either. Original Characters, including but not limited too, the Berh Siblings, Jake Mazzolla and "the chibis", are original and hence, the author's own creation.
Notes: This is the story of the children, the nine children of the 6 gundam pilots (Heero--Zechs) plus the grandchild of Treize Khushrenada. This story will not focus primarily on the characters from the series, but rather, the generation after them. This story is not for all die-hard fans, but runs along the lines of a more original piece.
Additional Note: 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 often times refer to each other as "husband"; please refer back to "Promise of the Rings" Part 15 if this causes confusion.
Additional Note 2: The chibis often times refer to their parents' friends and partners as "Uncle" or "Aunt"--in this case, the term is used simply as one of respect since, with the exception of Kit & Adrian's relation to Relena and all of Quatre's sisters, none of the parents have siblings.

Heirs to the Legacy I by Andrea Readwolf

Part Thirty-Five

~ December 12, AC 227~
Post-Bachelorette Party

"Aunt Lucy asked Uncle Zechs for a divorce," Trinity announced quietly.

Mara Jade blinked, too bowed over to say anything.

"They promised to love each other until death do us part and yet, she wants to get a divorce," Trinity went on in a hurt confused little voice. "Adrian found out by accident, his father didn´t want him to know yet and when he confronted him about it Uncle Zechs just said nothing was definite yet and he should just concentrate on having a wonderful wedding...

"Mara Jade... I don't want to lie to God."

She licked her lips and gingerly questioned, "Do you think it is a lie? Do you think you *won't* love Tristan forever?"

"'Tristan'?" Trinity blinked, and then smiled. "So is *that* why *you* won't agree to get married?"

Mara Jade started. "Tristan? What does your being afraid of lying to God have to do with why I won't marry Tristan?"

"I don't know," Trinity shrugged. "You're the one who said you were afraid of not loving Tristan forever?"

"I didn't."

"You most certainly did."

"I did not!"

"You did!"

They paused, realizing they were both standing, staring each other down, and both girls promptly burst into laughter, hugging onto one another as they fell onto the bed.

"Are you scared?" Trinity asked.

"Of what?"

She played with a bit of Mara Jade's hair, as soft yet darker than her own, but probably longer now. "Of having a baby and not being married? Of loving someone so much you don't think you could breath without them? Of everything changing so fast without any control over it? Of life in general."

Mara Jade sighed heavily, resting her head on her sister's arm. "Sometimes," she admitted, "When I let myself think about it. Just the thought that there's something inside of me, growing inside me, some little person that is completely dependent upon me..." She placed a hand over her flat stomach, a moment later, she felt Trinity's hand moving over hers. "Tristan says that sometimes he can... feel her, floating there all happy and content. He says she's happy most when I'm happy, and scared whenever I'm angry or upset. He's begun using that in arguments against me lately. Telling me not to get upset or it will scare her... He doesn't seem to realize how much that scares me. Something is so dependent upon me that my emotions affect it...

"And then there's Tristan... sometimes, when we touch, it's like it's all there, like he's baring his soul for me, and the honesty of it all is just too much for me to handle. I want to break down and cry, scream and hit him, make him stop, but he doesn't. He looks at me and I know. I *know*. He doesn't have to even say it, I can feel it. His love washing over me like warm water, a warm glow that just cushions my senses and makes me want to just curl up in his arms forever.... And I hate him for it. I really do. I hate him for making me scared like this..."

"What are you scared of?" Trinity asked gently, brushing her sister's arm with soothing strokes.

"Love," her sister answered readily. "I'm scared of being in love. I'm scared of needing some one so much that you don't want to be alive if they're not there with you. I'm scared of someone needing me that much. I'm scared about loving someone like that and then losing him. I'm scared of not being enough to keep his love forever. I'm scared he'll change his mind and decided he doesn't really love me like he thought he did, and then where am I? What does that leave me with?"

"You really think Tristan would change his mind about loving you?" Trinity tilted her head to look in her sister's face.

"I don't know, maybe," Mara Jade mumbled, causing her sister to smile.

"You really have no clue, do you?" her sister teasingly asked.

"Nani?"

Trinity touched her forehead to Mara Jade's, still smiling. "Triton told me once that Tristan has loved you from the day you were conceived. I thought he was crazy at the time, but that was before I realized how special they are. Now I believe it. I remember Daddy teasing about how excited Tristan was when you were born because he wanted to meet you, and how Uncle Quatre was so nervous when Papa let him hold you that first time. You quieted right down the minute he held you. Daddy used to say that they couldn't believe how badly you two fought later because it looked like you would be the best of friends from that first meeting."

"I didn't know that..." Mara Jade whispered, pondering events beyond her memory. "He just always irritated me. Trying to do things for me, treating me like an invalid who couldn't do her own stuff. I hated it, so I hated him."

"When really he was just trying to be nice and help you?" Trinity guessed.

"I don't know about that," her sister replied. "After all, he *did* used to pull my hair all the time, and push me in the pool, and stick the frog down my shirt, and--"

"I remember," Trinity chuckled. "You two were always going at it like cats and dogs."

Mara Jade smirked. "Now we're just going at it." She wiggled suggestively.

Trinity laughed. "You're terrible," she said, rolling onto her back and staring up at the ceiling.

"That's not what Tristan says," her sister quipped, folding an arm under her head.

"What's it like?"

"Nani?"

"Sex," Trinity clarified before rushing on. "Is it good? Does it hurt like they say it does? Is it really good? What does it feel like?"

Mara Jade was quiet for a moment, laying on the bed next to her sister, staring up at the ceiling, too. "I don't remember it hurting, really, though, afterwards, sometimes."

"Afterwards?"

"Well..." Mara Jade blushed a bit. "Sometimes, when... well, when we've been a little more rigorous, or tried something new, like a new position or something. You can pull a muscle, you know." She smiled. "But it can be worth it."

"So it's good, then."

"I'm pregnant, aren't I?" She laughed first and soon Trinity was, too. "Just... just don't laugh at 'it', okay?"

Trinity sobered. " 'It'?"

Mara Jade's shoulders were still shaking, though. "Yes, IT. It really *does* look funny, but Tristan wasn't at *all* happy with me when I laughed the first time I saw it."

"Oh! You mean 'IT'!"

"Yes. It," Mara Jade confirmed. "It... it just sort of lays there when he's sleeping, but when he's awake--" She giggled again. "It *bounces* and moves and lays up, against his stomach, instead of down, and it gets bigger, too."

"Really?" Trinity was laughing now, too. "I'll have to remember not to laugh, then. I can't believe you laughed at him."

"I didn't laugh at *him*," Mara Jade corrected, "I laughed at *it*."
