Disclaimer: Gundam Wing and its characters belong to Bandai, Sunrise and Sotsu Agency and are only being used for non-profit entertainment purposes. References to printed texts, films, sitcoms, musical pieces, and/or other fanfictions don't belong to the author either. Original Characters, including but not limited too, the Berh Siblings, Jake Mazzolla and "the chibis", are original and hence, the author's own creation.
Notes: This is the story of the children, the nine children of the 6 gundam pilots (Heero--Zechs) plus the grandchild of Treize Khushrenada. This story will not focus primarily on the characters from the series, but rather, the generation after them. This story is not for all die-hard fans, but runs along the lines of a more original piece.
Additional Note: 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 often times refer to each other as "husband"; please refer back to "Promise of the Rings" Part 15 if this causes confusion.
Additional Note 2: The chibis often times refer to their parents' friends and partners as "Uncle" or "Aunt"--in this case, the term is used simply as one of respect since, with the exception of Kit & Adrian's relation to Relena and all of Quatre's sisters, none of the parents have siblings.

Heirs to the Legacy I by Andrea Readwolf

Part Thirty-One

~ December 12, AC 227~

"Are you excited?"

"Petrified if more like it." Trinity looked into her sister's reflection's eyes. "What if I make a horrible queen? What if these people begin to resent me for not being royalty or something?"

"They wont," Mara Jade reassured, squeezing Trinity's shoulders. "To hear Adrian tell it, these people are already head over heels for you. Besides, if the royalty thing comes up, you can always mention that your father was a prince. At least, he would've been if his clan had such ranks, right? Not to mention that whole rumor about Daddy and Aunt Lena--"

"That' WAS just a rumor, but you're right. I know I'm being silly," Trinity sighed. "This whole thing has me crazy."

"Trust me. I've noticed," Mara Jade answered wryly. "I thought I was never going to have my sane, sensible sister back ever again. Do you realize all the silly little things you've been stressing over?"

"When it's your wedding and they're your 'silly little things,' they won't seem silly or little anymore," her sister predicted. "All those little things seem pretty momentous and a simple decision of silver or gold can make a BIG difference."

"No, I've learned my lesson from watching you," Mara Jade said adamantly. "When it's my turn, it's going to be a real simple affair. Maybe in a garden somewhere, with fifty people or less."

"Fifty people!" Trinity stared at her sister. "Tristan has thirty-one aunts alone, and they all have families!"

"So? I don't know them all," the younger sister replied. "Why should I have to invite them to my wedding?"

"But--they're family!" Trinity cried. Several of those families in question were coming tomorrow to her own wedding and they weren't even blood related.

"When I get married, I want it to be a real simple, quiet affair."

"Uncle Quatre will never let you get away with it."

"He's not the one getting married, so I don't see how it matters."

Trinity shook her head, earning a glare from her sister. "You'll find out soon enough."

Armed with a silver hairbrush, Mara Jade began to style her sister's hair and the two girls lapsed into silence for a minute or so. When Mara Jade did speak, there was a hint of wistfulness and fear in her voice.

"Haven't you ever been afraid of love?" she asked, not quite looking at her sister's reflection but studying the dark hair curling around her fingertips. "I mean, think about it: Love makes you dependent upon someone other than yourself. It's different than the dependency of you upon your parents, or your brother or sister, or even your friends... You're basically giving this person your heart... The ability to make or break you... Your life... What if they broke your heart...?" she trailed off.

Trinity looked up at her sister through the looking glass, but didn't have a chance to reply.

"And how could you know it wasn't just some passing fancy?" Mara Jade rushed on to say. "Love you this week, hate you the next. Haven't you ever wanted to hold out for something so wonderful... to *know* for sure it was really love--the one and true love of your life... the mate of your soul...? Wouldn't you... I don't know... feel something?" the younger girl asked, twisting Trinity's hair up and pinning it in place. "A spark of electricity when you first meet? You look up and from across a crowded room you see him and your heart races and your blood tingles and you know your face is flushed, as if you've been drinking too much champagne or wine and now you're light-headed and hot... And all you want to do is go to him... and you realize he's coming to you... and you meet, and you touch... and it's like coming home?

"And you know.

"You just... Know.

"You love him. And this is right. And this is where you belong... because home is him... and you've come home...." Mara Jade rested her hands on Trinity's shoulders as the words ended, staring a little lost at her big sister.

"We've known them all our lives..." Trinity said finally, lifting her own hands to rest over Mara Jade's. "What's to say there *wasn't* some spark, some mystical power that stuck us when we first met...? But we were just too young to realize what it was? Mara J... I love Adrian, with all my heart, my body, my soul. I would do anything for him, just as I know he'd do anything for me. I trust him with my life. I can't live without him. I'm miserable if I don't hear his voice everyday. I worry whether or not he's taking care of himself, getting enough sleep, eating properly. And I just want to go to him, to be with him, and make all his hurt and problems go away... and it kills me that I can't..."

"And *that's* love?" her sister asked, frowning.

"No, that's life," Trinity smiled, squeezing her hand. "Only a bit of that is love. Love is that warm feeling you get right here," she said, pointing to the center of her chest "That tells you, this is where you belong... this is what you can't live without..."

She looked at her reflection in the mirror at the style Mara Jade had finished and nodded approvingly. "Ready for rehearsal?"

"I don't see what there is to rehearse," the younger sister groused. "You just walk down the damn aisle, ne?"

Trinity laughed and linked her arm through Mara Jade's. "Come one. Hopefully it won't take too long and we can get into the good stuff--like dinner!"

"Lead on!"
