Notes: This is the story of the children, the nine children of the 6
gundam pilots (Heero--Zechs) plus the grandchild of Treize
Khushrenada. This story will not focus primarily on the characters
from the series, but rather, the generation after them. This story is
not for all die-hard fans, but runs along the lines of a more
original piece.
Additional Note: 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 often times refer to each other as
"husband"; please refer back to "Promise of the Rings" Part 15 if this
causes confusion.
Additional Note 2: The chibis often times refer to their parents'
friends and partners as "Uncle" or "Aunt"--in this case, the
term is used simply as one of respect since, with the exception
of Kit & Adrian's relation to Relena and all of Quatre's sisters,
none of the parents have siblings.

"You're what!"
All tings considered, Trinity Chang, future Queen of Sank, received the news of her maid of honor's pregnancy rather well. After only five minutes worth of crying--in which both girls agreed they'd need to find Mara Jade a new bride's maid's dress--and general accusations that Mara Jade was purposefully hiding things from her sister--Trinity finally calmed down enough to ask, "So when do you plan to get married? We could try and make it a double wedding, if you think you could wait that long? Oh! That would be so wonderful! Don't you think? Sisters? Getting married on the same day?"
"We're not getting married," Mara Jade said, hating to burst her sister's bubble. "I--we--well, that is to say, I just don't think I'm ready for marriage. It's such a big step, you know."
The look on the eldest Chang sister's face was something to behold. "But, Tristan--" Trinity stumbled, "The baby--!"
"I'm pregnant. It doesn't mean I have to get married."
"But, Mara Jade--!"
It was on old argument. One Mara Jade was tired of having, and worse, one she wasn't even sure she believed anymore. The more and more days passed, the less and less reasons she could find for not marrying the father of her
baby. In the end, it became a matter of point and principle. She had said she would not marry Tristan and she intended to keep that promise. Whether she believed in it now or not.
Trinity was confused by her sister's stubbornness in the matter. Anyone seeing Mara Jade and Tristan together could easily tell the pair was an item, heavily in lust and deeply in love. But her sister refused to seal that love with marriage. Trinity had her own marriage to tend to; her sister was a grown woman who could make her own decisions... But... she couldn't help thinking of Mara Jade's and Tristan's situation.
It was a month before her wedding when Trinity finally broached the subject with her busy, over-worked fiancée. Dinner had been delicious, as was usually for the Sank staff, and for the moment, she and Adrian were relaxing in the lounge.
"Adrian?" she began, threading her fingers through his and snuggling closer.
His dark head lolled back onto the settee; his eyes didn't even crack open. 'Poor baby. he really was exhausted,' she thought, even as he acknowledged her with a slurred, "Hmm?"
She threaded the fingers of her free hand through his dark hair-thick clumps of fine ebony silk. She watched his face carefully. "What do you think about children?"
One dark blue eye lazily crept open. "What about children?"
"Well," she hedged, resting her chin on her arm, which hung over the back of the settee. "Do you want children?"
He smiled, despite the bone-weariness he was feeling, he smiled at her and turned his face into her shoulder and throat. "I don't think our country will give us much a choice in the matter, love," he murmured and wrapped his arms around her waist, completely turning into her.
She laughed lightly as his breath tickled her throat, secretly loving the way he always referred to Sank as "their" kingdom. "I'm serious, Adrian. Do you want children?"
He stopped trying to smoother her and instead looked up into her face. "Well, yes, eventually," he answered, a small frown tugging at the corners of his mouth. "That's not a problem, is it?"
"What? Oh, no. No!" She smiled. "I would love to have children with you," she answered, brushing her lips over his, touching smile to smile.
"Good," he replied, resting back against her. "So, what's in the head of yours?"
It was a moment before she answered, and when she did it was little more than a puzzled whisper. "Mara Jade's pregnant."
At first Adrian didn't think he'd heard his dark-haired fiancée correctly. After all, he'd thought she'd said Mara Jade was--- One look at Trinity's face quickly dissolved any ideas of mishearing.
"She refuses to get married," his future wife mulled "Why, I don't understand." She looked down into Adrian's face. "Just watching them together. it's plain to see how much they both care for each other; but she refuses to marry him."
Adrian didn't know what to say. For the first time in so many months, the young monarch realized just how isolated he'd become from his friends and family. Sank had kept him so busy-his days scheduled from 6:45 when he woke up to 10:50 when he went to sleep. Somehow, he doubted he would have had time to call his parents or fiancé if his secretary didn't specifically put aside time in his schedule for such 'trivial' things.
He'd been remiss as a friend, Adrian realized, and it didn't leave a very nice taste in his mouth, nor a good feeling in his stomach.
He felt silly asked, but he was curious. "Tristan's?"
When Trinity nodded, he couldn't help thinking, 'Damn, that boy moves fast!' It had taken Adrian nearly 23 years just to work up the courage to kiss Trinity, and in less than six months Tristan had not only kissed the sister but knocked her up, too! He'd have to tell his secretary to put a call to his best man somewhere into his schedule. Still, that could wait.
"You wanna go to bed?" he asked, nuzzling his fiancée's shoulder. His fiancée-he liked saying that. Almost as much as he liked saying 'his wife'. "You, me, that nice big bed."
Trinity smiled as his lips nibbled her ear. "I thought we agreed to wait?"
He smiled against her silky skin, inhaling her sweet natural perfume. "As much as I love you," he murmured, "And as much as I love you body," his hand ghosted down her arm and settled over her stomach, "I'm honestly too tired to do anything but hold you, tonight."
"Hold me, huh?" she teased lightly, brushing her lips over his again before standing and pulling him up and into her arms. "I think my delicate senses could handle that." Her smile brushed his lazily.
"Besides," he said, "I *did* promise not to ravish you until we were married, didn't I?"
She laughed, wrapping her arms around his waist as his threaded around hers, and the pair made their way up to the king's bedchambers.
The joy of traveling with his husbands and their daughter was anything but a joy. In fact, if it wasn't for Trowa, Heero didn't know what he would do to Quatre and Callista.
The blonde girl was as two-sided as her father-and he meant that in a very loving way. After all, he had lived with Quatre for 9 years before moving out into Whispering Pines with Duo, Wufei, and Trinity. Been married to the blond man for a total of 29 years, going on 30 this December. He was there for both of Trowa's pregnancies-the twins' and Calista's. Was the godfather to all three of them. But he was damn thankful this girl had reached the age of maturity last year. The girl was manipulative, determined, fiery tempered, and sugared-arsenics just like her father. Too much like Quatre, Heero thought, wincing as another vase hit the other side of the wall. Voices shouted back and forth that even the thick-layered walls couldn't keep out.
Trowa's arm wrapped tighter around his waist as the cinnamon haired man burrowed his face into Heero's chest. "There are days I wished I'd moved into Whispering Pines with you guys," a voice drifted out.
"Oh, why's that?" Heero replied, his fingers lazily playing over Trowa's back.
"To avoid that." A hand waved somewhere towards the bedroom door just as something else crashed into the defenseless wall.
"Hn. So why didn't you?"
One green eye peeked open to peer at him. "Can't beat the sex."
Heero grinned. "It's all about the sex," he agreed-It was part of a long standing, running joke between the five arduous men. "What are they arguing about now?" Heero finally sighed, peering at the bedside clock. It was only 5:30 in the morning, dammit!
"My guess? Tristan and Mara Jade again," Trowa sighed, also giving up on getting back to sleep. It had been a long-standing argument between father and daughter since the news broke. Heero would be very glad when they were all home again and he could leave Quatre and his daughter at Emerald Gardens. He might just have to drag Trowa home with him to Whispering Pines, though.
The argument was silly at best, not to mention trivial since the decision was neither of theirs to make. Callista was defending Mara Jade's right to do whatever she wanted on the account of it being Mara Jade's life. Quatre strongly opposed this opinion, saying it wasn't Mara Jade's life anymore now that she was having a baby-she had a responsibility to that baby, to give it two parents and a proper home.
Trowa and Heero had quickly backed themselves out of the debate at the beginning, but in private, the two had their own discussions on the matter.
"How long do you give it until they get married?"
"How stubborn do you think she's going to be about this?"
"Do you really need to ask?"
"Hmphf. Suppose not. But you do think they're going to get married."
"Eventually."
"Eventually. I wonder if we can keep Quatre from having a stroke until then?"
"Sure. Shouldn't be too much a problem."
"If you say so."
Trowa snuggled closer to Heero. "You know, with Trinity leaving, and the possibility of Mara Jade, too, maybe you should think about moving back to Emerald Gardens," he said softly, his bangs teasing Heero's nipple.
"They haven't left yet," Heero reminded him. "But I'll mention it to 'Fei and Duo."
The door banged open before Trowa could reply, and in stomped Trowa's 17-year old daughter, loose blonde hair flowing over her shoulders and down her back and blue eyes blazed with righteous fire. "Daddy," she demanded, "Please tell Daddy how wrong he is!"
Trowa peeked one eye at his daughter and then promptly hid his face in Heero 's armpit, groaning.
"Callista Raberba Winner!" Quatre growled, now standing in the doorway. "How many times do I-"
"Oh, Hell, Daddy! It's not like they were screwing or anything!"
"You don't know-"
"The whole damn colony knows when you guys are going at it!"
"That's not the point!"
"No! The point is you think that you have the right to rule everybody's lives, and you don't!"
"Callista." Quatre growled.
"No. You're wrong, Daddy. You're wrong and it's about time the great and powerful Quatre Raberba Winner realized that he's not perfect!"
"Callista."
"Dammit, Daddy! Why can't you just admit you're wrong!"
"Because I'm not!" Quatre finally shouted back, "And we are NOT having this conversation anymore!"
And with that, Quatre turned and stalked out of the bedroom.
The blonde girl sighed exasperatedly and rolled her blue eyes. "I know he couldn't have always been this stubborn or neither of you would have married him-"
"No," Heero interrupted. "He's always been like that."
"Whatever," Callista replied flippantly, and suddenly she was all sugar again. "Goodnight, Daddy. Goodnight, Uncle Heero," she said as sweetly as ever.
"Night?" her father called after her. "It's already morning!"
Trowa looked back down at Heero. "Please tell me she's not going to be stubborn for very much longer? Forget Quatre-I don't think *I* can handle much more of this. I would like to have my family back to normal again."
"I thought this was normal for you," the coffee haired man replied.
"Hn." Trowa collapsed back onto Heero with a grunted sigh.
