<'la, lotta "let's go bash up Duo" as much as I can. I think he asks for it... That cute grin of his just simply calls out for it. OOC. Don't keep on reading this if you can't stand the thought of Heero being a really bad @$$%%% (to say the least). Oh, my, so fun to play around with these two.>

A Tale of Abuse by Test One

The wind blew harshly upon the edge of the cliff, almost cutting in its intensity. He stood there nevertheless, his blue eyes wistful. An eagle rode the winds high above, turning further and further in an ever widening circle. Free.

‘Heero... are you ever going to let me go?’

Strong arms encircled him from behind. ‘I can’t do that.’

‘Why not?’

Soft lips brushed against the vulnerable exposed part of his neck. ‘Because I want you.’

‘I can leave you.’ The threat was weak.

‘I won’t let you.’

‘Heero, I hate you.’

‘Hn. Duo, you’re not the only one. I too also...’

Duo found himself suddenly sprawled on the ground, with a hard body pressing down on him. A hard punch slammed into him. Ooff. Pain shot through him. Duo could not breathe. Tight hands wrapped around his throat, strangling him. His vision began to darken.

‘...hate you.’ Duo could barely hear the harshly whispered words over the roaring in his ears. ‘God I hate you so much.’

‘Kill... me then’, chocked out Duo, ‘give me release...’

Then suddenly, the weight was off his chest. He could breathe again. Blindly he rolled over and heaved in gulps of air reluctantly. As his vision cleared, he closed his eyes and slumped against the hard rocky ground. A warm hand touched him gently on his shoulders. A wry smile curled the edges of his lips. Here it was again, gentleness after the storm. Heero was as unpredicable as nature.

‘Let me go Heero,’ he said tiredly. ‘I want to go. Live a normal life.’

‘You can’t leave me.’

A simple statement, but all so very true. And there laid his dilemma. He could not leave Heero unless the other no longer wanted him. Only if the other told him to go.

‘Heero, you’re killing me inside.’ He said flatly.

‘I know that.’

Duo turned over, and met the knowing look in the Prussian blue eyes with regret. Heero leaned over Duo and kissed him. And Duo found himself lost, as always with Heero.

Duo easily plaited his hair without the mirror. He avoided looking in the mirror so that he did not have to see the dark bruises that marred his face from time to time. His body was even worse, but at least he could cover it up. Heero did not like being reminded of his handiwork, so they usually had sex in the darkness. Just sex. A bitter smile twisted his lips. What a happy couple they made, so unlike the perfection of the relationship between Trowa and Quatre. The smile disappeared as he thought of the other two. They were coming over tonight to conduct a briefing on the next mission.

Shit.

Heero usually bashed the hell out of him after their visits for some reason. A flicker of foreboding shot through him and the hand which replaced the brush back on the drawer was a little shaky. He hugged himself and curled underneath the covers of the bed, shivering. It was a cold night.

‘Heero.’

Heero paused at the sound of his name.

‘What is it?’

He did not need to turn around to see that it was Trowa. He knew the other would eventually broach the subject. It looked like the night was tonight.

‘You’re doing it again, aren’t you?’

The dark brown haired boy shrugged. ‘He can leave anytime he wants to. You did.’

A short hiss was exhaled from Trowa. ‘Duo isn’t me. Don’t you take me out on him. Heero, he’s really in lo-‘

‘Shut up Trowa.’

The tall pilot stopped.

‘That isn’t the reason why.’

‘Really?’

‘Hmp.’ Heero shrugged. ‘Perhaps it was at first but I know well enough that he’s different from you. You belong with Quatre, I know that now.’

‘Then what is the reason?’

‘I don’t know.’

‘Don’t lie to yourself Heero, I know you now. Be honest with your feelings, that’s what you said once, didn’t you?’

Heero swung around to face him, and Trowa was struck hard across his face. His head snapped to the side at the slap. Trowa looked back at the angry, blue eyed boy.

‘That’, he said softly as he brought up his hand against the stinging cheek, ‘will be the last time I let you do that. No more Heero. I’m not hanging around for the pain you give people who love you. Take care Heero, lest you lose Duo.’

‘Like I said, he’s not like that. Not at all like you.’ The anger in Heero’s eyes faded, to be replaced with one of sick despair mingled with some satisfaction, ‘he won’t leave me.’

‘You want Duo to go, don’t you?’

‘Yes. No. Damnit, he keeps on asking for it. I’m destroying him Trowa. It’s worse than it was with you.’ Frustration roughened his words. ‘I can’t stop myself but I can’t let him leave me either, I’ll kill him first.’

‘Heero...’ Trowa placed a hand on the tense boy’s shoulder. ‘There’s a solution you know.’

‘I can’t change Trowa, I’ve tried. But I just keep on hurting him anyway. I keep on hating him... hating him for feeling the way he does. He’s weak...’ Trowa could barely hear the last few words the boy uttered.

‘...like I am.’

He played at being happy, but all knew that he was not fooling anyone. Yet he still placed the mask on. He was unable to do anything else. It was near midnight before the two left. The main lights in the living room flickered off. Only a lamp in the corner of the room provided any protection against the darkness. But no protection against the figure who waited on the couch.

‘Come here Duo.’

The usually talkative boy was silent now. The chestnut haired boy simply walked towards Heero, undoing the buttons of his shirt as he did so. Standing before him, Duo undressed. The cold air rushed in against his skin, taking away the warmth the outer layer of clothing had provided. He stood there, naked and shivering. Although he could not say ... that the shivering was entirely from the cold.

Heero drew him close into an embrace.

‘I’ve trained you well, haven’t I?’

Duo closed his eyes. Waiting.

‘But not well enough, I think.’

And then the pain and the violence began.

It was when Heero awoke beside Duo in the morning that he noticed the extent of the damage he had yet again inflicted on Duo. Damnit, why couldn’t he stop? Why couldn’t Duo leave without him telling him to? There was no way he could say the words. They stuck in his throat when he tried. So afraid. He was so afraid to be alone again, yet...

He watched the gentle rise and fall of the beautiful boy's breath next to him. Duo deserved better. Sooner or later, the uncontrolled emotions within him would override the need he had for the boy. And he would kill him. Another innocent life taken by his hands. He reached out and lightly touched the dark bruises which marked Duo’s neck from the day before. He had come close then, on the cliffs. The rage that overcame him when Duo inflicted on him that emotional wound had been great. Heero knew he deserved the hatred Duo felt for him. Uncontrolled emotions. His jaw clenched as he remembered the depths of anger he had discovered in him when he began to thaw out after meeting the other pilots. He had no way of controlling it, as it was still alien to him from the day he discovered it to now. And the monster grew worse when he was with Duo.

There’s a solution you know.

He could leave Duo. That way Duo would never leave him, as he had left first. He would be alone again. But he would be alone again anyway if he stayed with Duo. For he knew he could not control the demon within him. The image of a gasping Duo filled his mind.

Give me release...

For Duo, he had to go. Leaning over, he brushed a stray strand from Duo’s face, and kissed him lightly. One last kiss before he left.

‘Goodbye Duo. I’m setting you free.’

The end.
