The Trap by Phoenix

Part One

The world had changed a lot in recent years. Fifty years earlier vampires made a surprise attack against a world that didn't believe in them; it was immensely successful. Inside one year, humans became little more than a slave race. People were food or playthings to the undead creatures. What little hope anyone had came from small bands of rebels who learned, through trial and error, the true weaknesses of vampires.

One such band was led by a man known only as Howard. He wore loud shirts that matched his personality and called his group of rebels the Cleaners. Of all the rebel groups in America, his was the largest. People came from all over the world to help this man. Today, all those people were gathered for a special reason. A long-range spy named Walker had come back with incredible news.

While on one of his scouting missions, he had discovered a secret about the vampires who ruled the land from a castle on nearby mountain. There was a small lake not far from the castle and the three Master vampires liked to go there on moonlit nights and 'play' with any captives they had. If the rebels could distract them, it might be possible to kill them. The distraction part was what had everyone upset.

It seemed that the vampires were very partial to beauty. To further complicate matters, since the three were Masters, whoever distracted them would have to be without weapons and be doing something that would hold all three vampires' attention completely; it was the only way to ensure the rebels could sneak up on them. Howard found himself unsure of what to do. Volunteers would be great, but how could he ask anyone to do something that could so easily get them killed? The matter was decided by his three newest recruits.

"We'll do it," Duo's voice rang out from the back of the room. Everyone turned to see him and his two "partners." Duo was a young man with violet eyes and an incredibly long chestnut colored braid. The other man in the group was known as Trowa; he had deep green eyes and brown hair that formed into a bang covering half his face. The last member of the group was a woman called Ashi. She had lavender eyes and waist length silver white hair that hung lose.

Few rebels liked these three. One of the reasons was evident in how the three were seated. Duo was seated in a chair against the wall. Nothing strange there, but it was where Trowa and Ashi were seated that bothered everyone. The two sat leaning against each of Duo's legs like some sort of hunting dogs. It was a well-known fact these two were the slender man's lovers. No one approved of the arrangement, though jealously was often the source of the anger directed at them.

The second reason the three were unpopular was their complete lack of restraint. They loved each other and were happy and didn't care in the least who knew it. Especially Duo, who loved showing off every chance he got. Now with everyone staring at him, a familiar manic gleam entered his eyes.

Never breaking eye contact with the assembled rebels, Duo reached one hand down and cupped the back of Trowa's head. The tall man responded by leaning up and Duo claimed him with a deep, opened mouth kiss. Ashi whimpered at being left out. Duo smiled, still keeping his eyes locked with the rebels, and held out his other hand; the lithe woman took two of his fingers into her mouth and began to suck gently on them. More than one person's breathing increased.

The longhaired man then slowly spread his legs, his eyes almost glowing with laughter. Trowa began to slid one hand along the other man's leg when Duo closed them. The tall man broke the kiss and looked at him questioningly.

"Not me," Duo said softly. Trowa nodded and Duo once more took his mouth and opened his legs. This time Ashi slid her hand up his thigh while Trowa mimicked the action on her.

"This is disgusting," a man leaning against the wall proclaimed loudly. Two small daggers suddenly appeared buried hilt deep in the wall on either side of his face. Trowa and Ashi slowly retracted their arms and resumed explorations, their message had been delivered. Duo chose that moment to move away from his lovers and stand.

"Do you think that will distract them long enough, Howard?" Duo asked.

Howard had to swallow a couple of times before he could assure Duo that he and his "friends" would indeed be the center of attention. So the plan was set. The three would pretend to be travelers stopping at the lake and enjoying the night. The rebels would wait until the vampires were fully occupied with them and then attack.

Before they left, Walker pulled Ashi aside.

"Please be careful," he told her.

"We're always careful." She smiled at him. Besides Howard, he was the only one in the group to accept the trio and as a result, she had a soft spot in her heart for him.

"Just don't take any chances, OK?" He looked like he wanted to say more, but a flash of pain crossed his face and he quickly disappeared the crowd of people getting ready.

When dawn came, the three set out from the base dressed as travelers. By noon, they had entered the forest. As they walked, each felt eyes watching them, but no one was visible. As the sun began to sink through the sky, they reached the lake. Conferring in quiet tones, the young people eyed the lake. Finally, Ashi and Trowa stripped and dove into the cool water. Duo enjoyed the show then joined them.

The moon rose on three naked figures swimming through clear, cool water. All disappeared beneath the still water for a moment and then two reappeared. They moved the small lake feed by two streams. Under the moonlight, the water seemed to glow. Trowa pulled Ashi close, the water from the small lake lapping around her waist. He pushed a knee between her legs, spreading them wide. Smiling he pushed two fingers into her, enjoying the gasp of pleasure she gave.

Not to be out done, with a feral smile, the young woman placed a finger inside the tall man. He leaned back, reveling in the knowledge that she was preparing him for Duo. The two rocked together for a moment before a third form joined them.

Duo nipped both on the neck; they moaned in response. The longhaired man watched them with shining eyes. These two passionate beings were his and only his. Neither would ever allow another to touch them. Just as he was going to join them, a laugh came from the shore.

Trowa immediately pushed Duo and Ashi behind him as they turned to face the newcomer. It was not just one person, however. On the shore stood three men. Two Asians and one short blond. The trio knew instinctively they were the vampires this trap had been set for.

"Why don't you continue this on shore with us?" the blond offered. The three stepped further back into the lake. Vampires had problems with free running water and that was the only defense they had right now. All three kept sending looks at the various places on shore. Why hadn't the trap been sprung?

The blond vampire laughed and gave a low whistle. Numerous vampires stepped into the moonlight all carrying the swimmers' comrades. Some were dead, others just unconscious. The last vampire, a tall platinum blond revealed himself last; he was dragging Howard along.

"As you can see," the blond smiled, "Your little trap was a disaster. Did you fools really think we wouldn't know?" He tilted his head a little and someone walked out of the shadows and stood next to the tall vampire holding Howard.

"Walker," Ashi breathed. Her tone held a terrible sadness. Walker was one of the few people she called friend and he had betrayed them.

The tall blond ran a hand up Walker's thigh and the man moaned.

"You fools only check the neck." The tall man said. "The vein on his thigh was enough. Once I had his blood, he was mine and will be for all eternity."

Walker's eyes reflected his horror even as his body leaned into the vampire's touch. He opened his mouth several times as if to speak, but no sound came out. Ashi felt tears well up in her eyes. This was what he'd been trying to tell her. They caught him and used his blood to control him; now he would be the tall vampire's plaything until it got tired of him.

"Now, I would like you to join us on the shore." The little blond instructed. "My companions and I would like to get to know you."

"Stay where you are, children." Howard ordered. The tall blond struck him across the back of his neck not even bothering to catch him as he fell, unconscious, to the ground.

Duo tired to run to his old friend, but his partners kept him in the water.

"It's almost dawn," Trowa said calmly. "Don't you have some place to be?"

The little blond glared for all he was worth. Entering the lake would weaken him terribly, but he did so want to taste these three. One of the Asian vampires leaned over and whispered in the blond's ear. A frighteningly cheerful smile split his face.

"I will give you two days. None of my people will touch your friends. If you can get into our castle and take them without being caught, we will never bother you again. If we catch you, well you know what will happen. You have two days." With that said, the vampires blended back into the woods, leaving the three bathers alone.

As the sun came up, Ashi wrapped her arms around Trowa's neck and Duo snuggled up to him.

"Did you hear what they said, my *Brothers*?" the woman breathed to her partners.

"Yes," Trowa laughed. "We've been invited into their home. Isn't that nice, Duo?"

He wrapped his arms around the slender, violet-eyed man, pulling him close.

"Very," Duo laughed softly and nibbled on Trowa's chest. "I think we should reward them. Don't you?"

It might have been the reflection of the rising sun off the water, but for a second, it looked like three pairs of eyes were glowing.

* Not blood relations. Like all humans are brothers.*

The Trap by Phoenix

Part Two

Three figures lay on a large flat rock, seemingly basking in the noon day sun. Duo lay with his head in Trowa's lap; Trowa lay with his head in Ashi's lap. The three young people formed a strange sort of C as they spoke quietly, each constantly touching the others.

"What do you think we will find when we get to the castle, Duo?" Ashi asked softly.

"I don't know." He said. "But I am hoping we can save the survivors. Maybe we can even save the vampires."

Trowa sighed. "You really need to stop feeling responsible for all this, lover. It wasn't your fault."

Duo responded by levering himself up and moving away.

"I should have known," he said fiercely. "I should have seen it coming. Everything that happened, all those deaths, all that pain, it's all my fault."

Tears slowly leaked from him eyes and his lovers softly embraced him. Together, they rocked him, running gentle hands down his back and crooning a strangely soothing song. After a while, Duo smiled at them through his tears.

"What did I do to deserve you two?"

"We chose you as you chose us," Trowa whispered in his right ear.

"You are the best of us," Ashi whispered in his left ear.

"No matter what, we will always stand by you and love you," they said together. "That was our oath. That was our bond. For as long as we are able, we are yours."

The sun moved through the sky slowly as the three sat entwined in each other. When the sky was blood red, they rose and moved off into the woods. It was time to begin the game.

Three silent figures watched from the shadows as group after group of vampires poured from the castle once the sunset. Finally, the stream slowed then stopped and the figures approached an unguarded gate.

"You were right, Trowa," Duo smiled at his lover. "When we didn't attack during the day, they thought we had made run for it. The fools have sent almost all of their guards out looking for us."

"And there's no guard at this entrance." Ashi observed softly. "I take that as an invitation. What do you think, my loves?"

Trowa merely smiled and stepped past her into the lair of their enemy. Duo gave a short laugh and followed. Ashi took up the back defense as the trio made their way into the darkness.

For more than an hour, the strange group traveled the twists and turns of the passage, encountering no one. Finally, they reached a crossroads. Duo nodded to Ashi and the young woman stretched out a hand; placing it flat on the wall, she closed her eyes.

"This wasn't always a place of evil," she intoned, no emotion in her voice. "Once rebels fought from this place. It was warded and even in the deepest night no vampire could enter here." Her brow creased for a second as she considered something. "The rebels were led by Howard."

Her companions didn't seem all that shocked by her pronouncement.

"He and twelve warriors, male and female, kept this region free of vampires. They were very brave, but underestimated the cleverness of those they fought. A monster captured a warrior and turned him, just like Walker. The traitor brought down the wards and this castle became a killing ground."

"How did Howard get out?" Duo interrupted.

"The others kept the vampires busy while he used a secret passage to escape. Several others went with him. Afterward, the scattered over the globe, still fighting the monsters. Forming new rebel units and making a nuisance of themselves. Those they left behind were turned by a Master Vampire. We have only seen four of the twelve. The others left long ago.

"Are the ones here salvageable?" Trowa asked.

"I think so. The one who was turned is the tall blond. His guilt and horror at being used to betray those he cared for has darkened his soul more than the others. The little blond had a truly pure spirit to begin with and will be the easiest to call back. The Asians were warriors. Proud, determined, fierce. They will not be easy to bring back."

The young woman started to lift her hand when Duo pushed it back against the rock. "Who took this place? Who made these vampires?"

"Duo," Ashi began softly. The violet-eyed man used his other hand to grab the back of her neck and pull her face to his."I command you to tell me!" He growled at her. "Was it him?"

With tears in her eyes, Ashi nodded. "It was him, my lord."

Duo wrapped his arms around her. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I didn't mean to hurt you."

"I am the one who hurt you, my love." Ashi returned.

"This is not your fault, Duo." Trowa interjected. "Anymore than it was Howard's."

Releasing Ashi, Duo turned to his lovers with a look of profound sadness on his face.

"Trowa, you are to take the little blond. Healing is not your forte and he should be easy to call. Ashi, the tall blond is in a great deal of pain. You are to help him; your healing abilities should be perfect for this. I will take the fighters." A look of extreme distaste crossed his face. "I order you to do whatever it takes to call these people back. Whatever it takes."

Trowa and Ashi shared shocked expressions.

"Very well," they said together. A cold expression took over their faces.

"Please don't hate me for this," Duo begged. For a moment, the coldness left the pair's faces and they smiled at their leader. He knew he was forgive already. With each, he shared a deep kiss, promising later pleasure for pain paid now and then watched as each set off to find their chosen prey.

'Time to spring the trap,' he thought grimly and set off to find his own victims.

The Trap by Phoenix

Part Three

For ten minutes, Trowa roamed the halls of the castle. The blond vampire was already aware of his presence and the tall man knew where he was, but if the plan was going to work, the vampire had to think Trowa was nothing more than an ordinary mortal. It was the only way to get him to feed off Trowa.

Finally, the little vampire showed itself. It leapt from a shadowed area of the hall and tackled Trowa. The force of the action banged the emerald-eyed man's head against the floor; stars exploded across his vision as the vampire spoke.

"Welcome to my domain, lovely one." Its voice was remarkably sweet for such a vicious creature. "Did you really think we would not be aware of you invasion? Foolish little mortal. My brethren are awaiting your friends and shall enjoy them as much as I shall enjoy you."

The pain in his head faded as Trowa felt himself dragged along the hall and into a room. The blond was very strong; he picked the tall man up and threw him onto a bed. As Trowa landed, he tried to sit up only to find the vampire busy pinning his arms above his head. The feel of cool metal around his wrists told the man the game was in full play. His ankles were the next part of him to be chained.

"W-What are you doing?" Trowa asked as weakly as he could.

The small vampire ran a hand up Trowa's leg before replying.

"I told you I was going to enjoy you. What did you think that meant? I will enjoy both your blood and your tender flesh. If they please me, I will make you mine. You will crave my touch, beg for it, even as your scout friend pleads for Zechs'."

"Nnnnooooo," Trowa moaned and pulled at the chains binding him. Blue eyes watched with amusement as the metal held and the man's green eyes reflected terror and hopelessness. The vampire had no idea its captive wasn't really trying to escape. Indeed, the banged man felt something akin to horror that anyone should have to suffer such a fate, but there was no worry about it befalling him.

Trowa was waiting. When the blond's eyes turned from blue to red and his fingernails became black claws, he knew the wait was over. Soon now, this particular vampire would learn just what it was playing with.

The Trap by Phoenix

Part Four

Trowa pulled at the chains binding his wrists and made sure he could break them easily. When the time came, he would have to move fast. A quick mental probe told him the others had not yet located their prey and so playing along with the blond vampire became a must. The three of them had to act as one; the vampires would sense what was happening and a single second of warning was enough to get one of them killed.

Quatre was currently shredding the tall man's jeans with black claws. More than once they cut into the captive's flesh and the vampire relished the terrified, pain tainted, whimpers that resulted. He had seen his prey pull at the chains several times, but knew no mere mortal could break the metal links. A brief memory claimed his sight for a moment and it seemed as if he was the one bound to the bed, blue eyes filled with tears as a shadow towered over him dispensing pleasure and pain for an eternity.

The blond shook his head and ignored the vision. That had never happened. The only important thing was the now naked body on his bed. Blood red eyes took in the pale, unscarred flesh. They roamed hungrily over the youth again and again drawing a terrified shudder from the chained man. The vampire's deep, cold laugh filled the air.

"Did you really think you could invade our home and get away with it, my pretty one," the vampire asked. It ran a cold hand up Trowa's thigh. "You have to pay the price for your defiance. Humans don't rule this world any longer. You're cattle. A food source. And now you're my food and my toy. I promise you will beg for my touch even as you hate it."

Trowa glared for all he was worth, but let just a little fear enter his eyes. The vampire would expect that. So far, he'd been able to fool the blond, but didn't know how long that could last. Soon, the monster would realize the prey was actually the predator. He was thinking of contacting his lovers when a brush of another mind grazed over his thoughts. Trowa almost panicked. The vampire had telepathy! It should be impossible, but Quatre must have been gifted before he was turned. For the first time, real fear gripped the tall man; if the blond got into his mind, everything would be lost. What could be keeping his lovers? They needed to act now. Now!

In another part of the castle, Duo was being stalked; it had been going one for about thirty minutes. The two Asian vampires were enjoying chasing the apparently panicked young man around. They would appear in front of him or make noises somewhere in the corridors, ushering the longhaired man towards and unknown destination. The running and chasing gave Duo a good chance to feel what these two were really like.

The first thing he sensed was incredible cruelty; the pair had played this game many times before and enjoyed making their prey feel helpless and hopeless. Not willing to believe Ashi could have been so wrong about these men, he opened his mind further. The resulting revelation rocked him. This pattern of cruel play did not come from them.

Long ago, when the castle had come under attack, several of the Master vampire's minions has chased these men in this same way, driving them to the same place Duo was certain they were driving him. A sudden inspiration gave the running man further insight. These men recreated what happened to them as a way to ease their guilty of being defeated. Every time someone failed to escape, as they had, it was reassurance that they could have done nothing more all those years ago; yet their anger and pain never dissipated. Each kill only left them with more self-loathing.

The seemingly young man was ever more determined to help the two once proud warriors. Unfortunately, he was so caught up in he own thoughts, he never noticed the pair had headed him into a room. A thin piece of wire had been strung across the doorway and he fell into the room with none of the grace he was capable of. Anger at himself filled him. They should not have been able to surprise him. Standing slowly, he looked around the room.

Cold dread filled his heart. All around him hung chains, whips, and many other torture devices. Blood stained more than one set of manacles. This was the room the two vampires had been herded into and here they had been tortured and turned. It was no wonder they were so angry.

"Welcome to our parlor," one of the men spoke behind him. Duo didn't have time to turn around before the other grasped his arms, dragged him to a set of chains, and clasped the manacles around his wrists. For a second, the violet-eyed man almost broke and showed his captors his true power, but he held out. Being chained was not one the man's favorite pastimes.

The vampire who'd chained Duo slowly circled his captive and eventually paused his trip long enough to rip off the pinned man shirt.

"Pretty," he rumbled. "You can call me Heero, and that," he motioned to the vampire still standing in the doorway, "is Wufei. If you make us happy we may just let you live." His eyes said that was a lie.

Wufei plucked a whip off the wall and moved further into the room. "Stop lying to the beauty, Heero." He smiled, showing his fangs. "We're going to torture you, maybe rape you because you're so beautiful, and then drain you dry. If you have any pleading or crying to do, please do it now and get it over with. It bothers Heero and he can't really enjoy killing you if you're sobbing all over the place." With this said, the vampire drew back his hand and prepare to deliver the first blow of the whip.

How will Duo get out of this? Can Trowa keep who and what he is a secret? And where is Ashi? What on earth could evil vampire Zechs being doing to poor little scout Walker? (Oh like you can't figure it out.) Well, on the next tour, you will find out the fates of Ashi, Walker, and meet the creature who defeated Quatre, Wufei and Heero. Looking forward to it?
