OK, my EVIL Muse is taking a rest (thank GOD) and this idea popped into my head. Don't know if it's worth continuing though. You guys tell me.

Disclaimer: I don't own GW. I'm poor. This story is for entertainment only.

Once And Future by Phoenix

Part One

Two figures stood arguing in a distant part of the universe.

"Do you have any idea what you've done? Can you even begin to grasp all the trouble you will have caused?" The first figure, a small blonde woman, yelled.

The second figure, a lithe redhead, shrugged. "What was I supposed to do? Sit around until the Council was done debating and watch everyone die in the meantime?"

With a shriek the blonde vanished.

"You just don't get it do you?" the redhead sighed. "They are going to need their memories to fight that thing. Besides, this should be lots of fun to watch."

Far away on Earth, people were dreaming.

A man stood on a balcony watching a woman. She was very beautiful. Her long hair brushed against her thighs and was hightlighted by soft moonlight.

She looked nothing like the strong, independent, warrior woman she was.

The man felt his breath catch at the thought of losing this wondrous creature.

"Gwen," he called softly.

The woman turned at the sound and fear flashed across her face and died

as she realized who was calling her.

"Mordred!" she cried, throwing herself into the man's arms. "Oh, how I have missed you."

"Gwen," Mordred whisphered, "we have to leave. Tonight. Arthur knows about us. He's sending me away in the morning."

"Oh, Mordred," Gwen sighed. "I can't leave Arthur. As much as I love you, he is still my husband. You know this."

"There must be a way," a little desperation crept into the man's tone.

The woman leaned in to the other's embrace. "I wish I had met you sooner."

Fiercely holding the woman he loved, Mordred said, "I promise, even if it takes a thousand lifetimes, we will be together, my love. Someday.

Forever."

Mordred's cobalt blue eyes met Gwen's violet ones and they kissed with a passion

only those about to lose each other feel.

Duo Maxwell woke to find a figure looming over him. Fear surged through the young pilot until a stray beam of moonlight illuminated the man.

"Mordred," Duo cried and felt himself crushed against the figure's chest.

"I promised we would be together," Heero whispered to his fellow pilot.

In another room, a small blond man awoke to the feeling of being watched. A quick look revealed a pair of glowing green eyes watching him from the foot of the bed.

"It's been a long time, Galahad," the figure said.

In yet another room, a voice was heard to yell, "I'm still a virgin?

Bloody Hell!"

Still on Earth another awakening took place.

A man with forked eyebrows shot upright from his bed. A look of fury crossed his faced as he bellowed, "Get your hands off my wife, Mordred!"

A long haired blond man sat smiling in his room across the way.

"Not your wife anymore, Arthur. This time, Gwen is fair game."

Part Two

Dawn had yet to color the sky but the tension in the room was enough to make everyone wish morning would hurry. Heero had claimed the room's recliner and sat with Duo perched on his lap. One arm circled possessively around the violet-eyed pilot's waist while the other held a gun loosely pointed at his teammates. Trowa sat in the loveseat, also holding someone; in the banged man's case it was Quatre. The poor blond squirmed at the unfamiliar feeling of being pinned and not liking the gun his partner was pointing at Heero. Wufei lay on the couch grumbling, seemingly uninterested in the events around him.

"I can't believe I'm still a virgin," he groaned for what the others thought had to be the one-thousandth time. "I mean I'm attractive enough. Hell, I even passed up that guy Treize's advances. What was I thinking? The man's sexy! Or that onna, Sally. Damn fine ass."

"We have bigger problems than your sex life, Gawain." Trowa growled; his eyes never left Heero.

"Please." Quatre began. "His name is Wufei. You're Trowa. I'm Quatre. And you're pointing a gun at our friends Heero and Duo."

Wufei turned to the little blond. "One, while my name may be Wufei, I keep remembering being Gawain. Give me sometime to get this all sorted out. Two, Merlin, I mean Trowa, is not pointing a gun at Gwen, he's pointing it at a Mordred. Damn it, Galahad! You know none of us would ever hurt Gwen. Arthur'd have our balls on a spit."

"That's my point," Quatre gasped out as Merlin's, no Trowa's, Trowa's hand slid beneath his pajama's waistline. "We're forgetting who we really are."

"Not forgetting, Little One," The green eyed pilot purred into the blond's ear. "Merely adjusting to the new information we now have. Even after all these centuries you are still the most innocent of all. I'm glad." His hand began a gentle exploration of the smaller man's crotch.

"I see you're still trying to get into Gal's pants, Merlin. Not quite an old pervert this time." Heero said quietly, his tone dripping scorn.

Trowa's finger tightened on the trigger.

"Merlin...please....don't." Quatre gasped out and grasped the taller man's gun arm. His hips made small thrusting motions and he leaned back against the man holding him.

"Mordred, I mean Heero, that will be enough." Duo told the wild haired man. He turned to the others. "I may have been Guinevere but I am not now. This time I will choose who I marry or be with. None of you have any right to decide that for me."

"Gwen," Wufei rolled off the couch and stood up. "We all know you weren't happy with Arthur. Still, it was our duty to protect you. Mordred betrayed us all."

Duo struggled to stand up, but Heero refused to let go.

"Arthur betrayed him!" Duo's anger stunned everyone into silent stillness. "He was jealous because he knew I really loved Mordred. So to punish me for loving, Arthur sent his own son away and even sent someone to kill him."

"Gwen," Heero said softly.

"My name's Duo!" The young man shouted, at last breaking free. He stood up and faced everyone. "I am not anyone's property and will chose who I love. No one has any right to tell me otherwise. Not now. Not this time." Everyone opened their mouths to reply, but Duo cut them off. "Try it and you'll regret it."

So saying, the young man stormed out the room. Heero smiled after him. Seeing the happy look on their friend's face, not a single pilot could deny something special was happening between the pair. However, the smile quickly became a snarl as the Japanese fighter turned to them.

"I lost Gwen once. I will not lose this time. Don't get in my way."

This said, the pilot turned and followed Duo.

"He certainly is more expressive now," Wufei murmured.

"We need to talk." Quatre was still having problems due to a rather persistent hand. "Merlin Please!"

Sighing, the tall man ceased his ministrations, yet did not release his hold. "You're right, love. We do need to discuss why this has happened."

"And what we are going to do now." The Chinese fighter grumbled. "I'm having a very hard time reconciling both parts of me."

"I suspect only Quatre will have an easy time. Galahad and he are very much alike." The former wizard speculated.

The pair turned to their blond companion.

"I can't help the way I am. But I think you may be right. Over the centuries we have change; most of us drastically." Wufei and Trowa listened carefully. Quatre and Galahad were both very clever if na?e. " Gawain was always sleeping around Camelot, however, Wufei has very strong ideas about sex without love. Merlin commanded people, expecting absolute obedience, but Trowa had been used all his life. Mordred was a tormented, dark young man who couldn't control his emotions while Heero has complete control. Guinevere was passionate and na?e about the true motivations of people. She just wanted to be loved. Duo is cynical and knows too much about the dark side of humanity. I have problems with how easily Galahad kills."

"So what do we do about this?" Wufei sounded a bit desperate. "I have all these desires and urges! At the same time, something is screaming at me they're disgusting and I'm weak and dirty. It's driving me insane."

Green eyes raked over the Asian man's lean form. "There's no shame in being human Wufei."

The pilot of Shenlong shivered under the gaze.

"E-easy for you to say, Merlin. You never were human."

"He was too human, Gawain." Galahad told him, the switch obvious in the way the blond carried himself. The friendly, open posture was gone, replaced with a tension only a person ready to fight has. All the knights had been like that toward the end. "Of us all, he may have been the most. It's why Nimue was able to trap him."

"Funny how the legends became so distorted." Merlin commented. "Almost as if someone survived."

"If someone had, could they be behind this re-awakening? Perhaps Morgaine?"

"Sorry, Gal," Wufei shook his head. "But I put a sword through that bitch's heart myself. Right after she stabbed me with a poisoned dagger."

"I always wondered what happened to you." The blond knight said sadly. "You weren't there when Arthur fell."

"He wanted to be, Little One." Merlin hugged the smaller man close. "I was still alive in my trap then. I had to watch as he dragged himself down the hall, trying to reach his best friend before it was too late. His soul shrieked when death claimed him."

Wufei crossed his arms and turned away. "She told me about the ones who were going to betray Arthur. Taunted me with it. I couldn't save him. I couldn't save Gwen. I couldn't save Gal."

"Me?"

"Galahad?" Green eyes flashed with smoldering fire.

"It doesn't matter. It was a long time ago." He started to head for his bedroom when a strange feeling enveloped his body. Suddenly, instead of heading for safety, Wufei was heading straight for Merlin and Galahad.

"Stop this." Irritation as being controlled flared in his dark eyes. "You're Trowa, not Merlin."

"I am both and have the desires of both." A long fingered hand once more moved inside Quatre's pajamas.

"We still need to discuss why we remember," Quatre moaned, one hand trying to still the larger invader, the other becoming entwined in brown locks.

"Time enough for that later." Trowa chuckled. "I have waited millennia to have you." Burning green locked with deep black. "And I will have what I want."

Wufei was dragged forward, inch by inch, until he was millimeters from the wizard and the knight. "You're not Trowa."

"Not right now. For now I am a man who wants what you want but are too afraid to ask for. So I'm solving the problem."

Any protest was silence by a passion filled kiss, leaving the lithe martial artist weak in the knees and hormones racing. The young blond merely leaned back against the larger fighter and surrendered to the sensations overwhelming him.

In a small bathroom, hundreds of miles away, Lady Une finished filled her bathtub. Quickly she dumped a large amount of herbs from a plastic bag into the water. The bases kitchen had been very well stocked and while some of what was necessary simply wasn't there, substitutions were easily made. It wasn't as if anyone was going to question her about the midnight raid. No one was up yet except a few guards who shook when she glared at them. It was immensely useful being reincarnated into someone people feared.

For a few minutes, the woman stirred the water and herbs with her hand before becoming satisfied. Standing back, Une raised both hands over the water and spoke a single word. Ripples formed on the surface. Eventually, the water turned ebony black and stilled.

"Show me the one I seek," Lady Une commanded.

Again the water convulsed; this time, however, when it stilled, a young man could clearly be seen within the depths. He had long, braided, chestnut hair. Violet eyes glowed in the darkness of the bathtub. Black clothing covered his body and looked like some sort of priest's uniform.

"So dearest Guinevere is a male this time." A sneer marred the woman's face. "Doesn't that make things most interesting."

A quick dismissive wave cleared the water; another triggered the drain. Shortly, no evidence of the strange activities existed.

"If I remember and Guinevere is also awake, the others are as well." Une mused as she left the bathroom. "Yet who in this time could have such power? Merlin died in his cage. Nimue saw to that."

The woman calmly sat before her mirror, pondering the reflection. "Someone is manipulating us and I will not stand for it. I was used once before. Not this time. This time I will succeed." Once more the image of Duo appeared, this time in the mirror. "And you, my dearest Gwen, shall soon have a visit from me. I do so hope you're ready."

The guards walking down the hall outside Lady Une's room shuddered at the mad laughter coming from their commander's sleeping quarters. Something very bad was about to happen to someone and they wanted no part in it. The next morning both men never showed up at their posts, having deserted.
