Summary: The youngest son of War is not willing to give up and finds allies to bring Duo away from the Dark Lady.
Eight years passed far too quickly for the Goddess. Her son grew to be a remarkably beautiful young man. One the Lady was certain others would covet.
Long, silken, chestnut hair, a heart shaped face, expressive eyes, and a joyous personality. To capture his loyalty would be to have something incredible.
The Gods' passions were not tempered by the knowledge that their partner was not willing, though. And the hypocrites dared to call her a Dark God. Rape was something she never stooped to. However, as they did, Duo had to be ready to defend himself once he left the safety of her forest. An event as inevitable as the sun's rise.
Thus, she taught him all that she could and all she knew. No other could claim to have as much information about the world, magic, and the Gods themselves. Nor could many out fight Duo. Using magic, a scythe, black as a starless night, was fashioned for the longhaired youth. When he called, it would appear. Should he be defeated, it would teleport him back to the safety of her forest. All that was in her power, she did. Yet, over the years, several things caused intense worry about the future.
Two years after the town was destroyed, a group of refuges fled into the reach of her curse to escape bandits. Sensing the reason for their violation of the village, the Dark Lady eased the deadly magic, changing the curse so that she could judge any who would enter her territory. The bandits died instantly.
Knowing a God must be behind their good fortune, the people set up an alter and prayed to the unknown benefactor.
For a week they stayed and investigated. They found the land was rich and the buildings could be rebuilt. Gathering, the elders discussed the possible fortune of staying. Finally, they asked the God for permission to live on his or her land. The question shocked the Goddess and she appeared to them. Instead of running or trembling, the travelers accepted her as she was. All they needed to consider was that she had protected them and in their opinion that made her a Goddess of Light. The Lady accepted them as she was a bit lonely and bored.
So the village grew and prospered. No raiders, bandits, or armies ever invaded.
Any who sought peace were welcome and those who tried to follow with anger, hate, or violence in their hearts died. Crime was non-existent. When Duo was old enough, she even sent him to learn about the way mortals lived. He was adopted almost instantly. Yet, they were not the reason for her fear.
In the last five years, several of the Gods' children had entered the village disguised as visitors just passing through. Each one asked about her and the boy who lived in the forest. No one told them anything, but the fact the Gods were asking was bothersome. On the borders of her land several others had made appearances. Again looking for someone. What plans did they have for Duo?
Perhaps she should never have allowed the village to be repopulated?
The only comfort available was that no Dark God or enemy had sent anyone.
Indeed, all the children were from Gods of Light and usually trustworthy.
Quatre, a young golden haired boy, was the son of the God of Peace.
Of course, his mother was the Spirit of Madness, so the boy wasn't as innocent as he appeared. Yet, he believed in never hurting another unless forced to.
His constant companion was Trowa, son of the Goddess of the Hunt and a mortal warrior who caught her eye one night. Tall, green eyed, and serious, the youth all but worshipped the sons of War. Strangely, it was the son of Peace he spent his time with. The twin natures made him odd and few Gods felt comfortable around the Godling. His loyalty to Quatre was unwavering and very reassuring to the Goddess. Still, he tried to use the animals of her forest to discover its secrets.
The God of Justice's son Wufei often visited the village as a wandering scholar.
His dark eyes watched everything while his long, dark, satin hair entranced the women and a few men. Honorable to a fault and despising weakness, the young half God would never lower himself to harming an innocent. Without knowing his mother, however, the Goddess could not find it in her heart to fully trust Wufei's intentions.
The last intruder did worry Lady far more than the others. Heero, youngest son of War and the Demi-Goddess Silence. Why would he return to the village five times in eight years? He never came too close yet it was obvious he was looking for something. What else could it be but Duo?
Perhaps she should never have allowed the mortals to stay. Every time her son went to village of late, she worried. What would happen should one of the Godlings meet her son? Could she reach him in time? Would he be able to protect himself?
Sighing, she sent out her power to find the source of her worries. The chestnut haired youth was sleeping in a field half a mile from the forest. Basking in the sun was one of his favorite pastimes. No other presences were near him. Despite this, she was about to call him back when a summons from the Council of Gods reached her. Cursing idiots and timing, the Goddess of Darkness gathered her power, just in case, and left for the Hall of Gods.
The second her power vanished from the forest, three young men appeared a few feet from the sleeping Duo. Carefully, they concealed their power and presence from the young man.
"So this is the one Heero wants?" Wufei scoffed.
"He is very attractive," Quatre said softly, almost sadly.
"He will not be harmed. Heero just needs to spend some time with him. To get the obsession out of his system." Trowa wrapped an arm around his lover's waist. "Nothing that doesn't happen all the time."
"He's just a mortal," The son of Justice reminded his blond companion. "It is an honor to receive a God's attentions."
"He might not think so." Came the response.
Moving away from Quatre, Trowa held out a hand and their surroundings shifted.
The calm field disappeared and a cold, white marble room replaced the grass and sun. Instantly Duo was awake, his scythe in hand. The Godlings were surprised at the weapon but not alarmed; they were still invisible. Or so they thought.
Closing his eyes, Duo focused as his Aunt taught him and easily found three creatures hiding. Smirking, he charged.
The small blond was so stunned at being found only Trowa throwing him out of the way prevented the blow from connecting. Quickly, they formed a triangle around the beautiful male. The three immediately dropped their attempts at invisibility. Perhaps if the foolish mortal saw just who he was attacking they could get him to stop.
"Who are you? Why have you stolen me?" Duo demanded opening his eyes.
"You don't ask questions here, mortal," Wufei sneered. Humans were such weak creatures. He really couldn't understand why anyone bothered with them.
"Oh really?" Duo swung the blade in a arch forcing his opponents to jump back.
The dark weapon left a mark of shadow in the air for a few seconds after the swing and the Godlings knew it was no ordinary weapon. "Perhaps you would like to back that statement up?"
Wufei's eyes glowed as he drew his sword and attacked. The little boy needed to learn respect for his betters. Trowa and Quatre stepped back; their companion was one of the finest fighters in all the Heavens. Unfortunately, the fight was not as one sided as they expected. Duo had been taught by the woman who taught War himself how to wield a weapon. Against a full-blooded God he would stand no chance. Against a Godling there was an equality of stature.
Duo blocked the blows from Wufei with some effort proving the other was stronger. Countering this was the way the violet-eyed man danced around the dark-eyed immortal. To land a single blow took Wufei several tries and it became clear who had greater stamina and ability to think ahead. If the longhaired fighter could keep up his dodging, the son of Justice would receive his first defeat in over a millennia. Humiliated by a laughing, merely human fighter.
"Trowa," Quatre whispered. "He has violet eyes. He's not fully mortal."
Cursing, the tall hunter prepared a ball of power and waited until the supposed mortal's back was turned. Once it was, he unleashed the blast of energy. Seeing it coming, Wufei pushed Duo aside. The full force of Trowa's power threw him across the room. Bones could be heard breaking when he struck the far wall.
"Wufei!" Quatre rushed to the aid of his friend forgetting all else. The green-eyed Godling was too stunned to react in time to stop the headless dash.
The foolishness of acting without thought became apparent when he was intercepted by Duo who placed the tip of his scythe against the blond's pale throat.
"I want some answers," Duo growled.
"We mean you no harm," Quatre said calmly. If he was worried about being hurt it was well concealed.
"The Son of War wanted to meet you." Trowa said raising both his arms in a gesture of surrender.
"Then he can make an appointment."
"Gods do not make appointments, Little One," a voice proclaimed as Duo found himself wrapped in chains and gagged.
"Zechs." The Hunter sighed. "Thank you." Quatre ran into his arms.
"I only came because I sensed Quatre was distressed. While this is normal, there was some small fear mixed with the worry. That is not normal."
Struggling, the son of Lady Dark saw a male dressed in simple blue pants and white shirt; long platinum hair fell in a single ponytail along his back. Blue eyes ran over the captive in a way that made Duo shudder. Checking what he knew of the Gods told him this had to be the God of Desire. The name and description matched. A full God! He really was in trouble.
"Now, would someone tell me what is going on?" The God demanded.
"Heero met this boy nine years ago. They became friends. Then War demanded the village the mortal lived in be destroyed and Heero thought he might have died. But never saw a body." Once more Quatre took the role of storyteller.
"So he developed an obsession. Typical." Zechs snorted. "War always gets what he wants and the jerk's raised his sons so they are used to the same. So you kidnapped this kid thinking to just hand him over to Heero's not so tender mercies only to find he was more than you could handle."
"He has violet eyes." Trowa pointed out.
Turning, Zechs examined the boy more carefully. Duo felt the God's power wash over him and frantically tried to resist. Since it was just a quick look though there was not much to fight.
"Very interesting. Well, I suggest you tell Heero he will have to come by my temple should he wish to make the acquaintance of this particular youth. The boy and I will be getting to know each other better in the meantime."
Trowa and Quatre tried to protest but it was too late. With a wave of his hand, Zechs was gone and so was the mysterious half-mortal. They were left with a slowly healing Wufei and very bad news to tell their friend.
Far away, on another plane of existence, Lady Dark was rocked with a sudden, fear filled, desperate cry.
"Aunt Une help me!"
