Disclaimers: I don't own GW or much for that matters. Certainly no anime series. I am poor and this story is for entertainment only. It has Ashi, yaoi, yuri, hentai, lemon, but most of that stuff happens later on and this is just a teaser, so chill. If you can't deal, don't read.
I want comments people. If no one says anything, I will guess you all hate it and scrap this fic. So SPEAK UP! Pant pant even. I need some encouragement. Please? Pretty please with sprinkles on top? Please? Anyway here we go. And if you like this, it may become a regular on the tour. ;)
Duo and Ashi looked up at King Peacecraft and almost flinched. The man had a fierce, commanding air about him and neither thief thought he would have any pity for them. So what if they were starving? Thieves were hung no matter what the age or reason. Still, both children were a little curious as to why the King had them brought to his private chamber. Was he going to kill them himself?
For his part, the King felt awe for the two young figures bound and kneeling before him, not that he showed it. Their mother had been a common street whore who was eventually killed by someone. The children managed to survive on their own afterwards. The girl was twelve and the boy was ten. They had been alone on the streets for almost half their lives and not been broken by it. He could not throw such individuals away; they were far too valuable to the country to die. He whispered to his personal guards. When they left, he turned to the two captive thieves. Now all he had to do was sell them on the idea.
"You expect to die, don't you?" He asked. Two defiant nods answered him. "The law says you must die, but I can think of a better use for you." The boy did flinch this time and the girl glared at him for all she was worth. He laughed. "No children. I do not mean like that. Let me tell you a story."
Taking a deep breath, he told them what he wanted.
"I married the Queen many years ago and have been very happy. She has given me a wonderful son and daughter, but her recent policy of pacifism is going to be the end of this kingdom. Already there have been several incidents along the border. As time goes on the Queen has disbanded more and more of the Army and no one, not even myself, can stop her. I will not stand idly by and watch her dreams be destroyed or watch my children be enslaved.
For that reason, I have begun to train an elite group of fighters. Children of all ages and from all places have been brought here to become a force to protect this country. Even my own son is one of these fighters. It is my hope that they will be enough to keep my wife and daughter safe. You see children, sometimes a few can accomplish what an entire army cannot." He could see the question in their eyes.
"I want you to join them. It took a wizard to finally capture you; that's how good you are. Imagine what you could do with some training." Neither youngster looked interested. "You will become rich." Still nothing. "Famous." They looked like they were about to yawn. "Respected." That got them.
"You will never go hungry again, but the training will be very hard. If you make it through, everyone who has ever put you down, will bow to you. If you try to run, I will hunt you down and see you hang for your crimes. This is my solemn promise. Will you help me save this kingdom?"
For several minutes the two spoke in whispers. Finally, they faced him and nodded. The King could not keep a smile off his face. He would give these two to Howard and G. Who knew? Maybe these two would work out better than the last two. Mentally, he tallied the names of his fighters and prayed they would have enough time to mature. So very much depended on them.
Heero, Trowa, Zechs (his precious son Milliard), Treize, Walker, Alex, Mueller, Quatre, Noin, Une, Hilde, Catherine, Otto, Wufei, and Sally. Now there were Duo and Ashi. Each would develop a different gift.
Would they be enough? Time would tell.
