Dark Passions by Phoenix

Part 4

What was once Zechs smiled cruelly as the bound
blond strained to avoid his fate. No one could
break the chains holding the young pilot; as a
result, he couldn't stop the dark invader slowly
pushing against his entrance. Diamond tears made
silent tracks down the boy's face.

"You are so beautiful in your suffering, Quatre,"
Zechs praised quietly.

He would have said more but a sudden itch at the
back of his mind called for attention. Two people
had just teleported onto his base. Concentrating,
the thing felt it as they fought their way through
Zechs' soldiers. With an inarticulate growl he
pulled back the shadows.

Around the room whimpers and disappointed moans
echoed. Just a little more time and the Gundam
pilots would have been his for eternity. Quatre's
confused stare only angered him further.

"This is only a temporary respite, child." The pure
rage radiating off the tall man caused everyone to
shudder. "When I return, you will be mine. Your
sweet flesh will surrender to me."

The Arabic pilot watched the not-so-human man storm
out of the room and, as the door clanged shut,
turned his attention to his fellows.

Duo lay in a shadow. His normally violet eyes were
open and coated with moving darkness. Heero simply
lay beside him, eyes closed, unmoving. The
expression on his face proved he was conscious; it
was a mix of disgust, longing, and fear. Trowa was
on his side shuddering and twitching. An occasional
gasping groan came from him. Worst was Wufei. The
Chinese pilot had curled into a ball and was crying
uncontrollably.

"Someone," the smallest pilot found himself
whispering. "Help me."

Only Duo even seemed to hear him and Quatre
immediately regretted having said anything as those
empty eyes turned on him.

"You need help, Quatre?" Duo's voice became sultry;
the deep, sensuous nature wrapping around the
captive's mind and hormones. "I can help you."

A seductive smile twisted stained lips as the
America crawled toward the chained fighter. Like a
lithe panther, muscles rippled and moved under pale,
shining skin.

"Duo, don't." Quatre meant it to be a command, but
it sounded more like a plea.

"Gonna make you feel so good." The thing that used
to be his friend purred. "Gonna make you mine."

Calloused hands worked their way up the pale, soft
skin causing Quatre to bite his lip. "No." Once
more the shadows started to twitch.

The door to the cell burst open without warning and
two men rushed in. The first, a young man with a
right to left scar on his face and brown hair,
kicked Duo away from the hanging pilot. The second,
a thin blond, held up his hand and light filled the
room. Duo and the others howled in pain, fleeing to
the shadows on the other side of the room.

"Good work, Tidus," the first said. "Now keep it
up. I have to get this one down. Doesn't look like
he's infected."

"Will do, Squall," Tidus said and the light flared
up. All the shadows vanished from the room leaving
the four pilots writing in apparent agony.

"Who are you?" Quatre's voice was weak yet filled
with wonder. Could they be here to help them?

"We came hunting the thing that did this." The
other blond told him. A look of uncertainty on his
features.

Squall found the chains had to be cut and drew his
Gunblade; two swipes later, the young prisoner fell
into his arms.

"We have to get you out of here before the others
blow the base."

It took a few seconds for the Arab to understand
that the "you" did not include his friends.

"You can't" he started to protest but was cut off by
the other newcomer.

"Squall, I'm going to try something."

The scarrd man didn't have time to say anything
before the room was lit with a pure, clear light.
Placing his hands forward, the slender male directed
it towards the writhing mass the pilots had become.
Around their bodies living shadow twisted and
congealed only for the light to turn them to vapor.

"It's working!" Tidus shouted happily and turned
toward his partner only to see something fast and
dark coming at him.

The blow sent the slight young man flying into the
middle of the room. The light vanished and the room
was once more controlled by shadows. As he tried
to rise a weight fell on his back; Quatre landed
without any grace and the pair went down in a
tangle. By the time they were apart, the monster
had Squall dangling from a single hand.

"Did you really think you could waltz in here and
take my pets?" Zechs growled. His hand squeezed
tighter, the other tossing the Gunblade out the open
door. "Did you?"

"Leave him alone!" Tidus shouted and focused. A
small light began around his body and spread out
slowly.

The pilots, who had been trying to sneak up on the
stranger, scooted back. The young Arab stayed as
close to him as possible.

Zechs, however, appeared calm, even happy.

"Oh my." He purred, fully facing Tidus. "I had not
thought I would get the chance to sample your tender
flesh again, my lovely."

"Oh Gods," the light wielder whimpered. The circle
of radiance shrank frighteningly, barely covering
the blonds. "Not you. Please not you."

Dropping Squall, the tall, longhaired blond
sauntered toward the trembling young man, stopping
just outside the light, which shrank even further as
if afraid of being touched.

"Nononono," Tidus chanted softly, his knees giving
way.

Quatre pressed himself tightly against the kneeling
fighter as the others crowded close by. Their hands
hovered near the small circle. Eyes filled with
darkness stared at him hungrily.

"You might as well give up now, lovely. I don't
want to have to mar that luscious skin of yours."
Cold, empty darkness captured terrified blue. The
circle shrank even further.

"Get away from them you sick bastard," Squall's
voice cut through Tidus's panic.

Without warning he doubled the radius of his power
and smirked in satisfaction as Zechs jumped back
slightly burned and the pilots howled in pain.

Unfortunately, the creature was not nearly defeated.
Too fast to follow it charged Squall. The warrior
tried to fight back, but the conclusion was
foregone. As he pulled his fist back for a punch,
Zechs was already behind him. Ropes of shadow
wrapped themselves over struggling limbs silencing
protests.

"So easy to catch you pathetic humans," it rasped in
Squall's ear.

"Don't," his partner's weak protest only made the
thing laugh.

"How long can you hold out, my pet?" Zechs taunted.
"How long before you need to sleep? I do not
sleep. Nor shall my new toys. In the end, you will
be mine again and this time I will not hurry so."

Tidus' sobs echoed through the heavy darkness; in
his eyes Squall could see helplessness, fear, and
the terrible knowledge they were going to lose. He
couldn't let that happen. Thinking quickly the
young leader came up with a desperate plan. It
could only work if the others came. Yet surely they
would. When he and Tidus didn't check in. Seifer
would never leave them behind.

"Let them go." Squall made sure his tone made it an
order rather than a request.

"And why would I do that?"

"Because if you do, I'll be yours."

"No, Squall, you can't," Tidus said, his tear
stained face twisted in horror.

"Shut up, Tidus. I'm the leader here."

"You will be mine anyways," he was reminded.

"Maybe, but not willingly. Not perfectly. And not
your host."

"Host?" Now he had its attention.

"I'm faster, stronger, and have better skills than
the body you're using now. If you let the others
go, I'll give myself to you."

"Why not just claim you anyway?"

"You tried that with Seifer remember?"

It hissed in annoyance at the memory; unlike most
humans, those in Squall's home dimension could not
be forced into becoming hosts. They could be
infected, but an existing Shadow could not make them
its home. Unless they submitted.

"Very well." Was all the warning Squall received
before he felt it claiming him. One second dark
bonds held him, the next the tall blond was holding
his face so close he could smell the sickness of his
infected soul. Then the other's mouth opened
impossibly wide and liquid evil surged upward.

Quatre watched in dull horror as something like ink
flowed out of Zechs' mouth and attached itself to
Squall's. The brown haired man tried to pull away,
his eyes wide with fear, but the last of it left the
OZ soldier and settled on his face oozing into his
nose and up to his ears. Calloused hands clawed at
it. Like water the thing simply flowed around the
offending appendages. Unnoticed, Zechs' limp body
slumped to the floor.

In what had to be an attack of cruelty, some of the
dark slipped lower, past the top of Squall's pants.
One hand made a frantic grab with no effect.
Seconds later, the fighters eyes were filled with
pain as a chocked scream issued from him. Tears
coursed down the man's cheeks even as his body
rocked. Defeat was the last emotion Quatre or Tidus
saw on those depths before they dulled, black
eclipsing the bright soul usually seen there.

Then the last of the thing slid down Squall's
throat. As quickly as it had begun, it ended.
There were no more struggles or cries; a few
shudders signaled internal changes. Slowly, empty,
dark eyes focused on the pair kneeling.

"Oh that was fun." It was Squall's voice yet not.
"Especially taking your virginity. If I'd known I
would have taken it slower. Oh well. I still have
my lovely Quatre."

"You said," the L4 pilot protested.

"I lied," it sneered at him. However, when the
reborn thing tried to step toward the shivering Arab
it staggered terribly. A look of annoyance crossed
its new features. "I forgot how tiring this can be.
Oh well, I will have to play with you another day,
Quatre my pet. And you Tidus will have to be
retrained I think. But later. Later." The last
few words were spoken with obvious effort. Moving
like a drunk, the scared man's body left the room,
locking the door behind him.

Soft, almost hungry moans caused Quatre to turn.
Duo and the others no longer shrunk from them. In
fact, they were slowly crawling along the edges of
the light.

"Let us in, Quatre," Duo whispered licking his lips.
 "I need you."

"We won't hurt you," Wufei promised, his voice husky
with desire.

"Make you feel so good," Heero told him.

"Fill you. Take you. Make you ours." Trowa
growled.

"Gonna be so perfect," Duo again.

"Tidus," Quatre hissed as the light faded a little.

"Make him feel good too," Trowa shifted his focus.
"Make him moan. Make him beg."

"Tidus." Quatre looked over and found the young
man's eyes staring at nothing. "Allah."

And around them the circle of light continued to
shrink.
