So another go round of teasers. This one with an actual teaser! This is really rough! Very much so. Tell me what you think or I am going to abandon it for a while.
I own nothing!
Ashi crawled through the only window accessible from her perch. After all the years of traveling, wandering and suffering, she'd finally made it home to find her bastard of an Uncle had sold her little brother to pay his tavern tab. There was no way Duo was going to end up some saloon's whore, but the owner had sold him to some blond from the castle. Now, having gotten through the only window with bars and therefore the one least likely to have guards on the other side of the door. However, the site greeting her was more than a shock.
A huge bed filled most of the chamber which was lavishly furnished. On the bed, a young, naked Asian man struggle to free wrists chain to the headboard. It looked as if the rumors about King Treize were indeed true. Well, it wasn't any of her business; she had a brother to rescue.
Unfortunately the young man heard her and turned frightened, desperate eyes toward her. Eyes surrounded by a face she knew.
"Godson?" It came out a squeak. If the boy was here, like this, it meant the Dragon Kingdom was gone and her dear friends were dead; they would never have allowed Treize to take their son.
"Ashi?" The reverence and hope in the boy's voice brought far too many memories to the surface. Then his onyx eyes hardened as he realized she had not come for him.
Ashi opened her mouth to explain when voices outside the door distracted them. Terror was etched on her Godson's face; unable to leave him, she summoned her staff and sent it to block the door.
"Wufei," she instructed, "hide you eyes." Gathering some power, she shattered the manacles holding him. Outside the door, voices were raised in anger. Pounding soon followed. Apparently Treize did not like being denied his prize.
"Follow me." Ashi ordered. Wufei didn't even hesitate. Together they stood on the windowsill.
"I don't mean to question you, Godmother, but it's over a hundred feet to the ground."
"I know."
Smiling, she called and her staff flew to her hand. Two men tumbled into the room as the door no longer barred their entrance. Ashi gripped Wufei around his waist and turned to say something cutting to the King and his man, but found the sarcastic words frozen in her throat.
Though Treize's face twisted in fury, his eyes looked at nothing. The same was true for his blond companion. A mental command turned the staff into a glider and she pushed away from the building.
Tears slowly ran down her cheeks and she could feel Wufei looking at her. How could she explain this to him? He was sure to have questions, yet she couldn't deal with the memories right now. They would land and then she'd take him to stay with Heero, Catherine, and Dorothy. If anyone could keep him safe from what was coming, it would be them.
'No more,' she sobbed mentally. 'Please I can't do this again. I can't fight them again. Please.' Begging any deity that might be listening. None answered.
Deep in heart, however, the truth rang. They were here. In the same castle as her little brother and by her oath, Ashi was bound to once more engage them in battle. And this time it was more than a small town at stake. It was an entire kingdom.
