Alucard ran through the forest with desperate speed. The bloodbeasts following him would not stop until he was captured and dragged back to his father's castle to be once more imprisoned. There were far too many for him to fight in his weakened state, he hadn't feed in over a month, and he couldn't feed off them. His father warped these hunters so their blood was poisonous. It seemed this time, Dracula would win.
Turning to see how far behind the pursuit was, the vampire never saw he was entering a clearing or the young man standing by a huge machine at its center. He did however feel the collision of their two bodies. The human was sent flying, landing in a heap at the edge of the forest, a long braid tangled under him. The vampire cursed his luck. The beasts' howl filled the air; they were aware of the prey's sudden halt.
Seeing only one way to survive the coming battle, Alucard raced to the human's side, turning him over. Stunned violet eyes fluttered open.
"I am sorry about this, Little One." The vampire whispered softly. "But I can only defend us when at full strength."
A question entered those beautiful eyes. That question turned to fear as Alucard's mouth opened revealing two very sharp canine teeth. Strong arms tried to push him away, but the vampire would not be denied. Sinking his fangs in victim, the creature swallowed the human's life, drowning in the fluid's exotic, spicy flavor. If they managed to survive this night, he would have to make sure this young mortal got better acquainted with him.
