In spirit of everyone getting back to school and going off to college, I wrote this fic. <actually came up w/ the idea of it while back, but was especially inspired by Emily's play by play tale of her dorm life>
Anyhow, this story is as much as a tour of UCLA and LA as it is of GWing fic. In case you're curious, everything I say in the story about UCLA or LA are all real.
Warnings: AU, yaoi, weird. Screwing with space time...
Heero caught Duo as the guards pushed him into the cell.
"Are you allright?" Heero asked the trembling boy in his arms.
"They shaved off my braid," Duo said softly.
Heero gently stroked the bare scalp, "You are still beautiful."
"Heero," Duo forced himself away a bit, "They are scanning our heads for the blueprints to build gundams."
"I know," Heero whispered, "Since the scientists died we are the only people who still knows the rudimentary layout of the Gundams."
"We can't let those bastards use us like that," Duo bit his lips slightly, "I will not have those fuckin son of bitches use my head to start another war."
Heero stared at Duo quietly, "I know." Heero slowly retrieved a gun from underneath his shirt. "No matter where we go, they will find us." Duo nodded, a small smile appeared on his lips.
"College starts next month," Duo gently hugged Heero, "Won't it be fun to play for their basketball team!"
Heero gathered Duo in his arms tightly.
"Hai."
"All that freaken studying finally paid off," Duo muttered, "Now all we have to deal with is loud parties and unglomping female admirers from you."
Heero gently pointed the gun at Duo's back. This wasn't fair. Not to Duo. Duo had been trying so hard to live a normal life. Damn it. They both have been trying so hard to live a normal life. They even got into the same college. Duo had been excited about it for months. It was no use. There was no peace for them even when there was peace for the world. Everywhere they went, only more fighting. For all they tried, they were gundam pilots. That's all they would ever be in this world. They were robbed of their lives long ago. Now that their gundams were destroyed, the world had no place for their pilots either.
"I love you Heero," Duo whispered feeling the barrel of the gun, "Always and forever."
"I love you too," Heero kissed Duo gently, passionately, desperately. Always and forever. Heero pulled the trigger.
Whatever gods are out there... mercy, Heero prayed.
Two bodies collapsed into the floor, still holding each other.
Duo was bored out of his mind. Honestly, three hours of sitting in traffic for two miles. TWO MILES! They weren't kidding about the Los Angeles traffic! His day was not heading for a good start. Duo had been excited about this for a long long time, but now he was finally doing it, the traffic was taking a toll on his enthusiasm. Honestly, if traffic was always like this, he seriously needed to get a motorcycle or grow wings. A motorcyclist rode past them in a whoosh of smoke. Duo almost drooled with envy. He shrugged, at least his shuttle driver seemed patient. Talking to the passengers about their plans for college.
"So what's your major?" The driver turned to Duo.
"I'm undeclared," Duo admitted honestly. He didn't know what he wanted to do with life yet. Father Collins had said that perhaps college would provide some direction. Of course Father Collins also thought that Duo was the greatest sinner alive and the anti-Christ so Duo didn't tend to take him too seriously.
"We are almost there," the driver comforted the agitated nerves of his passengers, "Usually, it's not this bad."
"So where are you living at?" A friendly girl with short black hair asked Duo.
"Hedrick," Duo scrambled for his bag, "What about you?"
"Me too!" the girl smiled, "What floor? By the way, my name is Hilde."
"Duo." They shook hands firmly, "I'm on sixth floor."
"Me too!" The girl's smile widened, "This is going to be fun!"
At last he was at Hedrick. Duo watched various eager smiling parents helping their child with luggage. Duo sighed slightly. No, he wasn't envious... well, maybe a little bit. It would be nice if Sister Helen could have come to see him...
He shook himself slightly as he helped Hilde with her luggage. He himself had very few items, his most precious procession safe underneath his shirt.
The trip up the elevator was... interesting. Duo found himself squeezed between a large English lady and her son. He had to duck several times to avoid being decapitated by the large ironing board she was carrying.
Hilde was quietly snickering at his plight.
Finally, the elevator crawled to his floor, and bounced a little before opening.
"How reassuring," Duo told the elevator.
"I'm in 648, I think that's on the other side of the building," Hilde waved Duo goodbye, "See you around! Come by some time!"
"I'm in 609," Duo waved back.
Six zero nine. Six zero nine. Sixty-nine. great.
615, 613. What do you know I'm on a floor with cartoons as a theme, Duo mused as he walked by Mulan and Batman decorated doors. 611, 609. There it is.
How nice. Right outside the girl's bathroom. In fact, the girl's bathroom opened to his door.
On the door, there was a little board covered with two cartoons of their own. "Duo Maxwell" was printed on to a picture of a robot. Just in case we couldn't find our rooms, they put our names on it! Duo laughed a little, as he studied the robot more carefully.
Duo felt his world spin a little. The robot looked so familiar. The black giant held a glowing green scythe.
The door opened, startling Duo.
Duo stared at his new roommate.
"I'm so sorry, did I bump into you?" the blonde boy quickly apologized.
~end of part 1
More notes! <And there was much rejoicing. Yay>
Just take a wild guess where I'm living at! If any one wants to visit me, feel free.
And yes, one of the floor theme this year is cartoons, although not on the 6th floor.
