The radio plays in Duo's bedroom. An old band, Creed, plays, the singer singing from his soul.
"What makes you touch?"
Duo stands in front of the mirror staring into dead violet eyes. He brings a hand up to his cheek, feeling its perfection.
"What makes you feel?"
Bringing his hand down, he turns on the faucet, then reaches for something laying on the edge of the sink. He looks down at the shining metal object. He tilts his head to the side in contemplation. The sticks out his left arm and drags the blade down his up-turned wrist.
He watches in fascination as the black-red blood trickles down his arm and into the sink.
"What makes you stop and smell the roses in an open field?"
He watches in bemusement as the blood mingles with the water making swirling blood red roses that wash down the drain.
"What makes you unclean?
Yeah, Yeah...."
A tormented expression flashes through the violet depths then disappears and Duo slices the other wrist.
"What makes you laugh?"
He thinks about his friends and how Quatre will react to the mess in his bathroom. He laughs at himself, a haunted and soul-striken sound.
"What makes you cry?"
He stares into clouded depths that are shiny with unshed tears, tears that refuse to fall.
"What makes our youth run
From the thought that we might die?"
Duo smirks cynically. "What an ironic song to die to...." He says as his vision dims.
"What makes you bleed?"
Duo slumps to the floor, knees weak from loss of blood. The blood now pools on the floor, staining the carpet.
"Somebody told me the wrong way...."
A knock on the door.
"What if I died?"
A concerned voice. "Duo?"
"What did I give?"
Whispered words as violet eyes slide shut. "My life..."
"I hope it was an answer so you might live
I hope I helped you live
I hope I helped you live
Somebody told me the wrong way."
