Wufei had backed away and retreated to camp leaving Duo alone with Heero hovering nearby. He figured it would be quite a shock for Duo once he realized he was a Seer, and possessed the ability to see into the Dreamscape. Who better than to bring him comfort than Heero? He just hoped Heero realized it.
Heero kept his distance from Duo as the black clad boy sat motionless on the ground ten feet away. His eyes were open but unseeing as he looked out at nothing. Finally after several minutes of watching the strange behavior, Heero decided that concern outweighed his wariness of the situation. Giving Duo a slight nudge he waited while Duo's eyes blinked a few times and his breathing quickened. Finally after several more minutes Duo's eyes regained their playful sparkle and he cocked his head to one side as he looked up at Heero crouching in front of him.
"What happened? Where's Wufei?"
"I thought he was attacking you." Hero answered quietly studying the way the confusion danced over Duo's face. "He was trying to get you to see something in your... vision."
Duo blinked and shuddered slightly. "Ah. I remember that part, just not what I saw."
They sat for a few moments letting the quiet stretch between them. Duo drew his knees up to his chest and rested his chin on his folded arms. "Heero?'
"Hn?"
"Have I done something to offend you?"
Heero frowned and turned to look at Duo. "No."
"Then why have you been so... distant? Ever since the night I woke up from the fever in Wufei's cave you've been... I'm not sure." He blew a bit of air up through his bangs and began making little circles in the sandy soil at his feet. "I dunno, I thought maybe I did something the night we slept together."
Heero let out a little choking sound as he blushed furiously. "We didn't sleep together. We slept under the same blanket because you gave yours to Quatre. You were being an idiot trying to catch your death." Heero shifted a little and let out a little huff at Duo's quiet laughter. "Why are you laughing?"
"I can't catch death, I am Death." He said playfully winking at Heero's growing discomfort.
"Stop it." Heero growled.
"You even sound like a Lion." Duo laughed again.
"I said stop it."
Duo laughed at the way Heero's face was beginning to turn slightly red and how the pet name made him blush harder. "You're pretty cute when you blush like that Lion."
"Stop teasing me or I'll make you stop." Heero grinned through clenched teeth.
"Oh really? And how do you propose to... " His sentenced was firmly stopped by Heero's warm, firm lips as he brushed them against his own. Duo's eyes slid closed of their own accord as he let the sensation of Heero's mouth on his wash over him. He pressed closer to Heero and opened his mouth teasing Heero's chaste kiss with his tongue. He could sense the surprise as Heero slowly and cautiously yielded to him and opened his own mouth in response. Duo's tongue brushed lightly against his, deepening the kiss until he felt as if he were falling.
Heero drew back and ran his tongue over his lips savoring the taste of Duo on them as he stared Duo. He still had his eyes closed and a dreamy look on his face that made Heero snort in amusement. "That's how."
Duo opened his eyes and looked thoughtfully at him. "Wufei doesn't trust me."
Heero frowned and his brow furrowed. "I kiss you and that's what you say?"
Duo smiled warmly as he pressed his mouth against Heero's in another kiss. This one held more of the passion that had been building in Duo for the weeks they had been traveling together. It held the fire that had been tightly reigned as duo waited for Heero to decide how he felt about the constant innuendoes and shy advances Duo had been making. He scooted over so he could wrap his arms around Heero neck and pressed himself close as possible without being in Hero's lap. Breaking the kiss after several moments and panting for breath he smiled and answered him. "I think I love you, my Lion." The shock that passed over Heero's face made Duo blanche. He immediately backed off and sat sullen about a foot away from the wild eyed Prince.
Heero frowned again and dropped his gaze to the ground. He knew he had upset Duo by his surprise at the declaration, but he truly didn't know what to say. He silently wished Trowa had told him what to do in case the topic of love came up. But he was so absorbed in learning the mechanics of kissing that he hadn't thought to ask at the time. "Duo... I... " When he turned to face the object of his affection, duo had gone. "Damn." Heero stood up and brushed the dirt from his pants and set out to find him and try to explain. Feeling the heaviness in the air he tried to figure out if it was his heart that made it so or the threat of rain from the darkening sky.
