Innocence Lost by DaMoyre

Relena's Destruction

The hangar was quiet, only the tapping of a few metal pieces could be heard as Duo worked vehemently on the reparation of Deathscythe. He dropped his screw driver on the ground, making a clanking sound and slowly turned to one of the corners of the hideout. His partner, Heero Yuy, worked silently on a laptop.

Their stares met but for a few seconds, before the Japanese pilot turned his eyes and his full attention back to his computer.

"I was just checking to make sure you were still here. You sure are quiet, man!" Duo's cheerful voice echoed throughout the cave as he flashed the boy behind the computer a wide grin.

"Hn," was Heero's short reply.

"I'm almost done here," Duo informed. "As soon as Howard comes back with the missing parts, Shinigami will be ready to kick some OZ ass again!"

"Good," Heero said quietly, never looking away from his computer.

"Of course it's good!" Duo stood up and brushed his bangs away from his face with grease-stained fingers. "I can't wait to get onto our next mission! The last one was tough, but this time I'm ready to get back at those mobile dolls for the damage they caused to Shinigami. Anyone who sees me will have a date with his maker!"

"Right." Heero nodded vaguely.

It was almost impossible to get more than a few monosyllables out of the stoic Wing pilot, and their conversations always ended up being one sided, Duo noted with a smile. "I guess I better get back to working on my Gundam, huh, Heero?"

"Yeah." Heero finally looked up as he closed his laptop. He was finished extracting the latest battle plans. After making a few adjustments on his own Gundam, he would be ready to talk to the rest of the pilots to hand out assignments.

"HEEEERO!" a feminine voice startled both pilots. Heero quickly extracted a gun from his shorts and turned to the entrance of the hangar, gun in hand. Duo was already pointing his gun in the same direction.

"Heero," the girl whispered as she took a few steps back, taken by surprise at suddenly becoming the boys' target.

"And how did you get here, Miss Relena?" Duo broke the silence as he put his gun away. "You better be careful next time! Or what, do you want to get yourself killed?" Why am I even asking that! This girl has a death wish printed on her forehead. Duo shook his head a little.

Heero muttered something unintellible under his breath; his gun had already disappeared somewhere in the depth of his spandex.

"This is supposed to be a pretty safe hiding place!" Duo scratched his head. He couldn't figure out how Relena Darlian had managed to get in.

Heero sighed softly and fixed his eyes on Duo. "Talk to Howard about security measures. We can't afford any unexpected... *visitors*." His last words were directed at Relena and he shot her a brief icy look before turning his back on her. It was impossible to understand why the young girl wouldn't leave him alone, even after he had made several attempts to drive her away; Relena had tracked him down to his new school, and now she had found the hiding place of his Gundam. She seemed to be determined to interfere with his work.

He wouldn't allow that, couldn't allow that.

"Heero," Relena spoke in her soft and sweet girly voice. "I needed to see you. You ran out on me after school today. We didn't finish our conversation."

Duo raised an eyebrow and shot Heero and amused look. Now, where were Heero's manners! Running out on a lady like that. For shame!

"Our conversation was finished, Relena," Heero's usually monotoned voice was tinged with annoyance.

"No, Heero. You know it wasn't!"

Duo looked down for a moment and wiped his greasy hands on his black pants. "I think I'll just step out for a few minutes," he said, flashing Relena a wide smile. "Give you some privacy."

"No," Heero said firmly. "Finish working on your Gundam. We have no time to waste."

"Another mission, Heero?" Relena asked.

Heero ignored Relena and fixed his eyes on Duo. "I'm going to test a few things," he said, and then turned away. He began walking towards the platform that led to Wing Gundam.

"No problem," Duo replied. "I'll finish up with Shinigami. Howard should be back any second now."

Relena stood still for a few minutes and then started to follow after Heero.

"If I were you, I wouldn't do that!" Duo warned. "He's not in the best of moods today." When he finished the sentence, Duo realized the irony of his words. As if Heero was ever in a good mood! Duo laughed out loud.

Relena shot him a cold stare. "Why are you laughing?" She said angrily. "It's not funny! I need to talk to him."

Duo tried to regain composure. "I'm not laughing at you," he said apologetically. "Look, really, you should come back some other time, or go see Heero to school in a few days, or something..." Duo smiled.

"No. This is important!" Relena insisted.

"Oh, I'm sure whatever it is that you have to tell him is *very* important," Duo said, still smiling at Relena, "but you see, we have a mission in less than 10 hours. You know, the kind of stuff we always do, blowing up Oz bases, battling mobile suits, kicking bad guys' ass," he said casually.

Relena raised an eyebrow and shook her head a little.

"I recommend you leave now." Duo's tone was a little more solemn this time. He waved his hand in the direction of the exit. "We suffered lots of damage in the last battle. Quatre was badly hurt. Heero is just not very happy right now."

Much to Duo's dismay, Relena wasn't listening. She turned away from him and followed after Heero.

"Fine," Duo sighed and threw his arms up in the air. "Do as you wish, Princess. Just don't say I didn't warn you."

Duo stared as Relena climbed towards Wing Zero and shook his head. She sure was stubborn! Well, hopefully she wouldn't piss off Heero enough to make him shoot her. He scratched his head and began walking out of the cave. "I better go check on Howard," he murmured to himself, knowing that neither Heero nor Relena could hear him anymore.

Inside the cockpit, Heero was checking his new radar. It had been damaged in the last mission and although it had already been repaired, Heero wanted to test it. There was no such thing as taking too many precautions before a mission. His life was devoted to his cause and he was ready to sacrifice it; however, dying as the result of a stupid mistake was unacceptable.

"Heero?" His thoughts were suddenly interrupted as Relena's face peeked inside the cockpit.

"What?" He sighed as he threw his head back in the leather seat and closed his eyes.

"Please talk to me!"

"I'm busy, Relena."

"Why do you do this to me?" Relena said, her voice shaking. Her clear blue eyes began filling with tears.

"Why do you do this to yourself," Heero snapped. "Please, go away."

"I will only leave after you listen to me."

"You shouldn't be here," Heero said. He stood up and closed the distance between him and Relena. She was standing in the entrance of the cockpit, so close to him, her soft perfume floating in the air. He held his breath and took her by the arm, gently but firmly guiding her out.

They stood in the metal platform outside the cockpit. He fixed his cobalt eyes on Relena's soft-peach complexion, the girl who had become his shadow since the day he had come to Earth. Why had he not killed her that day? Why had he not been able to pull the trigger? Or to allow the OZ mobile suits to destroy her?

"I should have killed you long ago," he merely whispered.

She stared at the boy in front of her. Why was he such a mystery to her? His cold stare, his steely voice, his harshness towards her. "But you didn't," she said softly.

"My mistake."

"Hmm..." She nodded. A weak smile drew on her lips as she remembered the first time she had seen Heero. He had been badly hurt, or so she had thought, and she had tried to help him. He had not accepted. Instead, he had shoved her away and covered his face before making his escape. Since that day, a thorn had been stinging her heart.

Perhaps he was right. It would have been better if he had killed her that day. She wouldn't be suffering this way. She couldn't explain her pain; there was no logical explanation to what was happening to her. It had started very innocently, with simple admiration. She had been impressed by the determination in his voice. At first, all she'd wanted was his strength; she'd wanted to be like him.

Now, she could hardly think of anything but Heero Yuy. She saw his face in her dreams and her daydreams. She felt his dark blue eyes staring at her, even if she was certain that she was alone in the room. She could hear his husky voice in the silence of her bedroom, at night. And she had memorized his every move, his every gesture, almost to perfection. She longed to be near him, to be held in his strong arms, to kiss his lips.

It was madness.

It was love.

It was obsession.

"I will correct it." Heero's voice brought Relena's wandering mind back to the present. He was already back at the entrance of the cockpit while she remained standing in the middle of the platform.

"What?" She was confused.

"I will kill you."

"Oh, Heero," she said softly. She began walking towards him, very quickly at first, then slowing down, more hesitant as she got closer to him. They were only a few steps away, but she felt as if they were separated by miles.

"Please go away," Heero said. He tried to remain calm, just as he felt his patience and his will draining away.

"I can't Heero! Can't you see what is happening?"

"No. You're the one who can't see, Relena. This is the last time I'm asking you... GO. AWAY." Heero turned his back on her and tried to climb back into the cockpit, but Relena stopped him.

She was holding him very tight, her arms encircling his waist, her hands on his chest. He flinched at the touch. He could feel the weight of her head against his back, her warm breath on his arm.

"Don't do that." He took her hands on his, and with his full strength, pushed her away. She tripped back and lost her balance. When he turned around, she was kneeling on the metal platform, tears rolling bitterly down her cheeks.

She looked up at him, with extreme sadness reflecting in her innocent blue eyes. Heero shook his head in exasperation. Why couldn't he just kill her and be done with this nonsense. He took out his gun and pointed it at her. "Say good-bye, Relena."

"Kill me, Heero!" She managed to stand up and looked at him with defiance. She wiped the tears away with the back of her hand. "Kill me now if you dare and end my misery! I can't live like this anymore!"

"Huh?" Heero had not been prepared for this response. He looked genuinely surprised for a few seconds, but quickly recovered, masking his face from any emotion once more.

"Fire that gun, Heero! Shoot me now! For if you don't do it now you will never be able to do it!" She yelled. "Kill me!"

What was this girl thinking? Was she so stupid she couldn't understand the value of her life? Did she consider herself so worthless, so without purpose that she would tempt her would-be-assassin this way? He couldn't understand. He didn't know if he should admire her courage or laugh at her idiocy. Should he despise her or respect her? He couldn't decide. If he didn't kill her now, he wouldn't be able to do it at a later time. He had tried to end her life several times before without success. This was his chance.

Pull the trigger, Heero. It's now or never!

"What are you waiting for!" She fixed her eyes on him and began walking towards him. "I'm not running away. Just shoot!"

"Aggggh" Heero threw his gun inside the cockpit and covered his face with one hand. "Get out. I don't want to see you anymore. GET. OUT."

"You can't do it, Heero," she said triumphantly. "You just can't do it!" She smiled to herself. Perhaps there was hope. She knew in her heart that Heero cared for her, one way or another, he cared for her.

"Don't be so sure, Relena. You might not be so lucky next time," Heero hissed. "Now get out!"

"No, Heero! Now I have more reasons to stay. I know you need me as much as I need you." She extended her arms towards him and embraced him. His muscles tensed up at the touch of her warm hands, but he did not push away. "Why do you keep running away from me? Why don't you let me get close to you!"

What was it that he felt for her? She was one of the few human beings that had made him feel, made him feel alive. She and Duo had managed to awaken the emotions that he had tried so hard to deter from his being.

He could not allow that to happen. He had accepted a mission, that of piloting a Gundam, and he had to continue. He couldn't stop now. NO! Emotions could only get in the way. He needed to keep his head clear, his heart empty. He had to be focused. She was but an obstacle to his mission. She kept getting in his way and sabotaging his missions by her recklessness, risking her life and his. Her death would be the best solution to all his problems. But he just couldn't, he couldn't do it.

"I need you, Heero." She was very close to him now, looking up into his eyes, her chin against his chest. "I need to feel your strength."

He could feel her soft breasts pressing against his hard chest, and her delicate little hands touching the bare skin of his arms. Her hair shone like strands of gold and he almost felt like reaching out to touch it. He knew it would be soft too. Soft all over... silk and velvet.

Why did she make him feel this way?

He felt a sudden rage overcome his being. He couldn't stand it anymore. Why did she have to exist?

Live according to your emotions... That's the proper way for a person to live...

"No," Heero said, fighting against himself.

She pushed herself closer to him, her hands wandering down his back; she pressed her lips to his chest, kissing through the thin material of his tanktop, eliciting a soft tremor from the boy's body. Relena smiled, sliding her hands up and down his back, feeling the toned muscles underneath the cloth.

"Just this once," she whispered, "I want to be close to you."

Heero groaned softly and backed away, but she held him closer still. "Please," she said quietly, pressing her lips against his neck.

"Fine." He finally said. And suddenly he was pushing her towards the metal fence of the platform. He grabbed her by the hair and made her bend down until her hands rested on the fence.

"No!" Relena was suddenly frightened by the spark of hatred she had seen in his eyes. It was not the look of love she had expected to see. It was not passion, and it was not tenderness either. What she had seen was pure rage. Violence.

Perhaps it was the look he reserved for battle, for destroying enemy mobile suits.

"Is this what you need?" Heero asked. He lifted up her skirt and ripped her panties, and then she felt his hardness rubbing against her. Before she could say anything, he was burying himself inside of her with brutal force. She cried out in pain as he roughly thrust back and forth.

"Heero," Relena cried painfully but not very loudly. She didn't want anyone to come inside the hangar and see what was happening to her. It would be too humiliating. "Please don't!" She was fighting now. She struggled to get away from him but Heero was holding her by the waist very tight.

He pushed her down to the ground and fell with her, still inside of her. "You said you needed me. You have me now. Is this what you wanted?" He could feel his ire subsiding. With every thrust, he was satisfying his need to hit Relena, to punish her for all the trouble she had caused him. Every thrust was a slap, a blow. If he couldn't kill her, he would destroy her.

The way he destroyed everything around him.

It was all he knew.

Relena was crying, quietly biting her lips to muffle the sobs. She was in pain, and how humilliating to be on her knees this way. When she had come to seek Heero, this had not been what she had in mind. She had wanted to be close to him, a little romance, perhaps...and yes, love. Suddenly, all her illusions had been destroyed, crystal castles tumbling down in a matter of seconds.

This wasn't a bed of satin sheets. She was on the dirty platform of a hangar, surrounded by metal and grease, Heero's wandering hands all over her, roughly cupping her tender breasts, hard, calloused fingers rubbing against her. And it hurt.

Heero is very dedicated to his mission, Relena. You must stay away from him or he will destroy you.

Why had she not listened to Dr. J's advice? He had been right. Heero had managed to destroy her...without killing her.

Heero felt himself coming close to climax, the warm feeling that began as butterflies in his stomach and then floated down, and down. He moaned as he experienced the ecstatic moment, hating every second of it.

When he was done, he pushed Relena away and got up. He stood there, silently looking at the slender figure of the blonde girl. So helpless, so tender, so innocent....

Not anymore.

She lifted her face and fixed her eyes on him. There was not reproach on her face, but a simple question. Why? She was sobbing, tears streaming down her face, her lower lip quivering. She began to get up, her eyes still fixed on him.

Heero felt his heart sink as he looked at her face. He had never met anyone like her. She was one of the few genuinely kind-hearted people he had met in his life. She was strong and pure; perhaps delluded by her own dreams of an ideal world, committed to peace and non-aggression, but she was pure.

For all the damage he had done, he had not managed to take that away from her. Nothing and no one could take that away from her. Her inner strength was intact and her eyes, those eyes that haunted him all the time, were still as clear and innocent as they had always been.

And wouldn't the world be a better place if more people were like her...

"Don't look at me that way, Relena." Heero turned around and leaned against his Gundam. "Leave."

She lowered her head and began walking down the metal stairs, her legs very wobbly as she walked. Once she reached the ground she straightened her skirt and fixed her blouse, trying to hide her shame. She turned around to cast one last look at Heero and then ran out of the hangar.

Duo was sitting outside. He had managed to get Pargan out of the limousine and was chatting with him.

"Hey, Miss Relena! You all done now?" Duo asked cheerfully. His smile disappeared when he saw Relena's troubled expression.

"Is everything okay, Miss Relena?" The faithful butler asked.

"Everything is fine," she said dryly. "I thank you for your concern." She nodded at Duo and walked past him.

Pargan hurried towards the car so that he could open the door for Relena. "Good evening," he said to Duo as he walked around to his seat behind the wheel.

"Later," Duo grinned. "Hey, it was nice talking to you. See you around!" he said in his usual friendly manner.

Now he could go back and finish working on Shinigami. If only Howard would hurry up with the missing parts...

Inside the hangar Heero covered his face with both his hands, cursing under his breath and despising himself. "What have I done!"

"I don't know," came Duo's voice.

Duo, why did you have to leave me alone with her? Why didn't you come back inside?

"So what did you do, Heero?" Duo asked. "Gonna tell?" He winked at Heero.

Heero sighed. "I've done the unforgivable."

Duo felt tense for just a second; there was something about Heero's expression, something chilling in his tone of voice. Not that Heero ever sounded happy, or extremely cheerful, but this time, there seemed to be something darker, a black shadow across his face.

"Everything alright, there?" Duo asked with concern.

"Yeah." Heero nodded. "Get back to work."

"Let's get ready for the mission!" Duo smiled.

"Hai," Heero assented. He began to walk back into his cockpit but was momentarily paused by Duo's voice.

"Hey, Heero, I'm glad you didn't kill the little Princess after all!" He joked.

"She's dead," Heero said quietly.
