Here's just a little something I wrote in response to a request from a friend. She's not too keen on yaoi, so.. *sigh*
Warnings: None, really. Just a bit of mush, probably OOC as well. I tried to make it not too sugary, but I'm not sure whether I succeeded. Oh, and an unusual pairing, at least to be posted on this list <g>

[Heero's POV]
I can't believe what a fool I've been all these years. Even now, when we have finally gotten things sorted out, I look at you and wonder how I could have missed the treasure that's been in front of me for so long. It also never ceases to amaze me that you could have forgiven me so utterly and trusted me so much that you accepted me back in your life. You will never know the extent of my gratitude, but I will always remember, for as long as I live. Sometimes I wake up when you're still sleeping and watch you. I don't think you realize just how exquisite your face looks when the moonlight plays across it. I watch you sleep and I'm happy that I was able to protect you through all the horrors of this war. I am grateful that, through all the carnage and bloodshed, you managed to retain your innocence and faith. That you could share some of it with me. I didn't have any desire left to live and you gave it back to me. Thank you.
I gently brush strands of hair out of your face and you open your eyes and smile at me sleepily. I smile back and send brief thanks to whatever God is out there, for you - my guardian angel.
