Subject: An open letter to management
Attachment: Union.doc
Dear Sirs:
Thank you for your memo regarding the changes to company policy. My colleagues and I have discussed this, and we also have several concerns we feel it is necessary to address immediately.
Under Earth law that allows such, the five of us have formed what will be known from this point on as the Gunion. You would assume that stands for Gundam Union, but you would be wrong. However, we are now a legal union. You will find copies of the paperwork attached to this email.
In partnering with WIBN (Women in Battle Now!), we must state that the policy of hiring only men to pilot your Gundams is antiquated and illegal. Even a rival organization such as Oz has made great strides to put women in both combat and leadership positions, and yet our own company falls woefully behind in this area. We feel that it is time to shatter the glass ceiling and open the doors of opportunity to anyone who is qualified, regardless of gender. We are also currently reviewing the current policy that appears to exclude heterosexuals from being considered as combat pilots. We have reached only two conclusions for this policy: either blatant discrimination against said heterosexuals, or else those hired are considered "disposable." Both conclusions are, as you can imagine, highly disturbing.
Another issue is the lack of a company-wide medical/dental/vision plan. It is shameful when your employees are forced to set their own bones after work-related injuries, not to mention incredibly icky to watch. We would each be willing to contribute a small portion of our paychecks to cover this service, but we would like coverage to begin immediately. This coverage should also include psychiatric counseling for those pilots suffering from job-related stress, or past personal trauma that could affect our current assignments, such as pilots who burst into tears at the sight of puppies.
We would like to schedule a meeting with upper management to discuss both these concerns and others we have, too many to document in this email. Please let us know when would be convenient for us to meet with you. We hope these issues can be resolved.
