A romantic moment between Anne & Treize
http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/roses/index.htm is a nice place to find out about Roses, their names & qualities. There's even one called Desert Peace and one called Harlequin. =) there's also stainless steel, moon shadow and ultimate pink. Guess which characters match which rose. LoL
Based in part of my memories of the Berkeley Rose Garden located around the Grizzly Peak area. It's nice, but my memories are a little on the old side.
Treize looked at the almost infinite number of rose varieties arranged in concentric circles that sunk into the ground the closer it got to the center. Beyond them were the hills, browned by the hot California summer. "This is a beautiful garden, an excellent place to stop by."
"I read all the guide books about it. It was recommended," said Lady Anne. There were a few here and there, but for the most part it was just the two of them. It was rare for them to share a quiet moment like this considering his schedule. She managed to schedule things so he could have a quiet week all to himself between stopovers.
"The hills are so brown," he noted.
"Well, most of California is really a desert. There's a price for all these sunny days. North of us, there would be more greenery, but fewer days to enjoy them."
"Yet," said Treize, smiling at Lady Anne. "The view is exquisite."
Lady Anne looked away to hide the slight blush on her cheeks. "Yes, the roses are lovely."
As they slowly took their time, they noted the various varieties. Some were yellow, some red, others shades of pink and purple. There were blooms that were almost big enough to be cupped in two hands while others were delicate and small gems. They walked under an arch that was intertwined with yellow roses.
Treize went up to a rose and looked as if he might break the stem. "So, Lady, would you like one?"
"No, you mustn't."
Treize closed his eyes, smiled and let his hand fall. "I was merely teasing. I would hate to be scolded by the caretaker of this place like an errant schoolboy. Besides, any roses I get for you won't be yellow."
Lady Anne looked at the usually piercing eyes and saw them dance with humor. "Treize-sama," she said, half scolding, half laughing. Yellow was the color of friendship, she thought. You always get me red.
They walked hand in hand among flowers named The Dark Lady, The Prince, Peace and Perfect Moment.
The End
