Warnings: Yaoi. Some Lemon. Some Lime.
Note: Kind of a prequel to my songfic, Even Deeper. Was going to put the words to The Fragile here, but it's a pretty long fic that I should break up into chapters instead.

The men of the Maganac corp were more than a little surprised to see Quatre with Abdul.
"Quatre-sama! You've come to see us. You look much better than the last time I saw you," said Rashid.
"Thank you, Rashid. I do feel better."
Abdul shouted from across the room, "Quatre-sama! Welcome back. Abdul, what have you been up to? Why did it take you so long to get back?"
"Well, I spent quite a bit of time dating all of Quatre-sama's sisters. Or at least the ones he would allow me to date," laughed Abdul.
Quatre stared at the man in amazement. //Good Allah, he's in full joker mode.\\ The corp wanted to laugh, but stopped themselves for fear of insulting Quatre. Once Quatre figured that out, he started to laugh.
"Well, I only allowed him to see one or two of them," grinned Quatre. The rest of the corp laughed then went off to do their duties. Rashid was observing the interaction between the two men. //Quatre-sama seems to have a crush on Abdul. I wonder if Abdul has figured that out yet?\\
"Quatre-sama, I should get to work. If it is okay with you, I would be honored if you allow me to treat you to dinner?" asked Abdul. This speech felt awkward to say and even harder to do since they had been so informal with each other on L4.
"I would be honored. Thank you," said Quatre with a little sadness in his voice. //Back to formalities, huh? Okay. I can play the game.\\
Rashid just looked at the men and said nothing.
Later that night, Abdul and Quatre were sitting in a nice restaurant. "I'm sorry for the formal speech earlier. But just imagine the grief I would get from Rashid if I weren't formal. I would be accused of being rude."
"It's okay, Abdul," said Quatre before he noticed that his friend looked a little distracted. He turned to where he thought he saw the man looking. There was a couple sitting at a table not far away. The woman was very beautiful. "Is that Rani?" he asked.
"Yes."
Quatre looked more closely at the woman. She had long black hair that flowed down her shoulders in great waves and curls. She had dark eyes and bronze skin. Her companion was a handsome man. He look like he could have been a model he was so good-looking. Together they made a handsome couple. "You want to go to her, don't you?"
"No."
"Liar."
"Yes." They ate their meal in near silence. As the couple started to leave, Rani saw Abdul and walked over to his
table."Abdul," Rani smiled sadly.
"Rani! I didn't see you. Were you here the entire time?" asked Abdul as he stood up and gave her a quick hug. He stuck his hand out to her companion, "And you are?"
"I'm Davi Rao."
"Hello, this is my friend, Quatre Raberba Winner."
"Winner? As in the numerous satellites all over the colonies Winner?" asked Davi with some interest.
"Yes, the same one," answered Quatre.
"Duli, what did I tell you about wearing sunglasses inside?" Rani admonished as she started to remove them. Quatre found himself holding his breath.
Abdul stopped her. "I think you lost that privilege my friend. So how have you been?"
"Good. I got a new job about a month ago. That's where I met Davi. And you? Are you still in the corp?"
"You know it. Well, don't let me keep you from your date," he said not meaning to make the word 'date' sound so nasty. He kissed Rani on the cheek and gave her another quick hug so he could remember her smell for the last time.
"Okay. Quatre-sama, it was good to see you again. Let's go Davi." The couple left.
Quatre looked over at his bespeckled friend. "I think we should leave."
Abdul didn't say anything. He was lost in thought. //Hold it together. You can do this. Don't lose it. Not here in public.\\ He didn't even notice that Quatre had paid the bill and they were now outside of the restaurant. //How did I get out here?\\ They walked until they reached Abdul's apartment.
Abdul stood at his door looking stupidly at it. //What am I suppose to do?\\ He felt Quatre's hand take his keys from him and unlocked the door.
They were now inside the apartment. Quatre went to the kitchen and begin to rummage around. He found a bottle of vodka. He poured a glass for Abdul and walked back to the shell shocked, defeated man in the living room. He made the man sit, then he handed him the drink, while pretending he didn't see the tears running down from behind the sunshades.
The man accepted the drink. "Wow, she really looked heartbroken to see me, don't you think?" he tried to laugh, but it sounded more like a muffled cry. Quatre put his arm around the man and pulled him to his chest.
"It'll be okay. Let it out, there's no shame in crying."
"Yeah, right."
"Come on, Abdul, it's okay to be upset."
"Excuse me, I need to wash my face," Abdul said as he stumbled out of the room. Quatre's eye fell to the ring box sitting on the coffee table. He picked it up and looked inside. It was a beautiful ring. The diamond wasn't huge, but the setting really set it off. It would have looked beautiful on Rani's finger.
Abdul came back without his glasses on, staring at Quatre. "Hey want to buy a ring? I'll sell it to you cheap, then I can get out of debt for it. I'll be paying on it for months to come," he smiled painfully.
Quatre put the ring down, walked over to the man and hugged him. Abdul struggled out of the hug, "I'm sorry, Quatre. Kindness makes it hurt more."
"So you won't let me help you?" asked the boy.
"I appreciate you trying to help. But I want to be alone now. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"
"Okay," said Quatre worriedly. "Are you sure you don't want me to stay here?"
"I'm positive. But thank you, Quatre."
The boy left the apartment. When he reached the lobby he saw Rani standing there. She didn't look very happy."Quatre-sama."
"What are you doing here? Where's your date?" asked Quatre more than a little annoyed.
"I told him I didn't feel well. He dropped me off at home and I came straight here. How's Duli?"
"How do you think he's doing?" Quatre nearly yelled. Rani jumped at the harshness in his voice. "You were acting like you were never serious about Abdul. I've seen him do that act before but not with the finesse you possess. If I didn't know the details, I wouldn't have thought you two weren't anything more than acquaintances!"
"Quatre-sama, it's not your concern."
"Of course it is. He's my friend. You just stomped on his heart a second time. Why are you here? To rub it in?"
"I- I don't know why I'm here," said Rani.
"That's not good enough."
"Excuse me?"
"Is your motives to get back together with him? Or to get his hopes up so you can shoot him down again?" asked Quatre a little calmer.
"He vanished for almost two months. I've missed him. I didn't think it would hurt this much not to be near him. But why am I telling you this?" she asked.
Quatre felt his heart hurt briefly. //She's going back to him.\\ "I'm sorry, I know it's not my business. I'm just looking out for a friend who has helped me in the past. I'll leave you to do what you have to. Excuse me." He left.He walked to his car which was still at the restaurant. As he walked, tears wouldn't stop falling. //She's going back to him. I should be happy for him. Why can't I be happy for him?\\
