OK, this is a Duo and Trowa fic, which I wrote a long time ago. I'm not really sure why I wrote this. I kept feeling sorry for... Well, you'll see. I put up the first half a while ago. I think this is the last Duo-Trowa fic I do.

Nostalgia by Mobiusklein

Heero drove up to the apartment building where Duo was. It's been months since I last saw him, he thought. I hope he hasn't found someone else yet. I hope that I've changed enough so that it'll work this time around. Then he smiled. Anyway, I bet he'll still like the six-pack of beer I've got in the trunk.

He parked, got the six-pack and pressed the apartment buzzer. "Hi, who's there?" said a cheerful voice.

"It's me, Heero."

There was a pause. The voice was considerably less cheerful. "Come on up." Then there was a buzz as the door was temporarily unlocked. Heero opened the door. I guess he would be nervous to see me, but... I really, really want to see him.

As he got on the elevator, he thought, No matter how many times I rehearse my speech, it never gets any easier. I've tried to be with other people but nobody compares to you. When the elevator door opened, he strode towards the apartment door and knocked.

The door opened, revealing a somber Duo. "Hey, it's been a while, stranger."

"I need to talk to you."

"Duo?" said a voice.

Heero looked over Duo's shoulder to see Trowa dressed in jeans and a shirt. They both looked at each other, then Heero looked at Duo, then back at Trowa. "Hello, Trowa."

"Hello, Heero." Trowa said, then he turned to Duo. "Looks like you two have a lot to talk about. I'll be back in a couple hours." Then as he walked by Duo, he stopped and kissed him on the cheek. Then he brushed past Heero.

Heero walked into the apartment and put down the six-pack on a nearby table, then he sat down on the couch. Duo sat down on the other end. "So, it's you and Trowa."

"Yeah, I was walking down the street one day and I bumped into him. He had left Quatre a while ago. He needed a place to stay so I let him sleep over. Things just developed from there."

"I take it you're more than friends."

"You'd guess right. Why are you here, Heero?"

"I want you back."

Duo shut his eyes. "It won't work. It'll never work. We weren't meant to be together. I got tired of the fighting, the anger, the silence."

"Are you in love with Trowa?"

Duo opened his eyes and sighed. "He makes me happy. Yeah, I am. He doesn't hurt me the way you used to. It's just nice to have someone who really listens to me. It's different from you and I had, it's not as fiery but it's sweeter." Duo turned his face away and snapped, "Damn it, Heero, why are you back after all this time?"

"I didn't contact you because I knew that a lot of the stuff you said was right. I didn't treat you right. I didn't come until now because I wanted to be a different person than the one you left. I wanted to be a person you could stay with this time around. I got a lot of counseling and I traveled around a lot. Most of all, I wanted to be the person who could say... " Then Heero leaned over until his face was only an inch away from Duo's. "I love you." Then he suddenly grabbed hold of his former lover and kissed him.

Duo shoved him away. "I was always the one who said it! You never said it once in all the time we were together! Now that I find someone capable of saying it, now you say it? If you had only said it once that whole time... There was a time when I would've given anything to hear it, now it doesn't matter anymore."

"You never thought of us getting back together?"

"I thought about it a lot, but I knew it would just be more of the same. I truly loved you, Heero. You were the first person I really fell in love with, but... " Damn those blue eyes looking at me like that, Duo thought, they were always my weakness.

As Trowa walked through a park littered with gold, red and green leaves, he thought, I wonder how Duo's talk with Heero is going. I can't help but feel a little apprehensive. After all, when they were together, they could barely keep their hands off each other. He shook his head to clear his minds of those thoughts. I should trust Duo more. He sat down at a bench that was near the shore of the park's lake and watched as children threw bread to the ducks in the water.

"Trowa!"

Someone's calling my name, he thought, Quatre? He turned around to see Quatre running up behind him. Since the last time he'd seen him, Quatre had gone from slim to gaunt, his fine clothes hanging loosely on him. There were dark circles under his blue eyes and a miserable expression on the usually smiling face. Trowa stood up.

"Quatre?" said Trowa. He looks absolutely terrible, he thought. He felt the old, sudden urge to comfort Quatre by taking him into his arms and stroking his hair as he had done a long time ago, but he stopped himself. I must keep control of myself, that period of my life is over, he thought.

"Trowa, I've missed you so much!" Quatre held Trowa in his arms and hugged him tightly.

"Quatre, you don't look like yourself."

"I'm not myself. How could I be myself when I let you go without a fight? I should've run instantly after you, but I... "

Trowa could feel Quatre begin to shake. He began stroking his hair and saying, "Lets sit down." Trowa took him over to the nearby bench.

"Trowa?"

"Yes."

"Is it true you're with Duo?"

"Yes, it is Quatre."

"Why?"

"Because I love him."

"I can't believe that. I just can't see it."

"It took me by surprise as well, but we found a connection. I'm very happy with him."

"And you were never with me."

"I didn't say that. It's just that if I were to go back with you, it would be for the wrong reason."

"What reason would that be?"

"Nostalgia."

"And what is it that you see in Duo?"

Trowa was taken aback by that question. He found himself thinking about the better part of a year he'd spent with him. The insistent kidding around, the months of just circling around the fact that they were attracted to each other and that they were lonely, the first kiss followed by their first night together, then the nights after that. Trowa closed his eyes, then smiled. He opened his eyes and said, "Lots of things."

Quatre saw the happy look on his face and looked absolutely crushed. "This is it?"

"Yes."

"Is that all you have to say to me?"

"Yes, Quatre. You won't be alone for long, you're too nice for that."

"If I'm so nice, then why did you leave?"

Trowa stood up. "It's no use, Quatre. I should go back to my apartment. I don't believe I'll be seeing you again." With that, he turned and walked away.

"Heero, stop! It doesn't work anymore." Trowa heard as he walked towards the door. He quickly unlocked it and flung the door open to see Heero pushing Duo against the wall and nuzzling his neck. "Heero." said Trowa in an even tone. However, the glint in his eyes told a very different story.

"You're going to leave now."

Heero stopped and turned towards him, fixing an icy gaze at him. "Why don't you?"

Trowa said nothing, but got into a fighting stance.

"Bakayaros!" yelled Duo. "Heero, just get out!"

Heero's shoulders slumped and his face took on an expression of confusion. He looked at Duo and shook his head. "I don't understand. I don't understand."

"You asked me to come back to you. I've told you no. There's nothing else you have to understand."

Heero turned his back to him and said, "After today, I will never come back."

"I know," said Duo.

Heero brushed past Trowa and left the apartment. Trowa shut the door and then turned to Duo, "Are you OK?"

"I'm fine."

"I'll make you some coffee."

Duo noticed the tired look on Trowa's face. "Hey, you don't look so hot yourself."

"I saw Quatre in the park. He asked me to come back. I said no."

"I wonder if those two planned this, trying to split us up."

"It's possible."

Duo flopped on the couch and put his hands over his eyes. "Damn them."

"Want to talk about what you talked about?"

Duo shook his head without taking his hands off his eyes. "Not really, and you?"

"Not right now."

Coffee was drunk in silence. Even dinner was eaten with nary a word. As Duo washed the dishes and Trowa wiped them, Trowa said, "Duo?"

"What?"

"Let's get married."

"What?" Duo nearly dropped the dish he had in his hands. He looked at Trowa, astonished. "You said... "

Trowa nodded.

"But today... "

"Today, I realized that what we have isn't simply we stumbled into because our hearts needed mending, but something stronger. These past months... " Trowa searched for the right words to express himself. "have been a happy time for me and I think they've been for you as well. Seeing Quatre today crystallized things for me. I have no more ghosts to exorcise."

Duo's jaw dropped in astonishment, both at what he was saying and the sheer amount of words. "Damn Trowa, didn't know you could talk so much at once!"

"I do when it's important."

Then Duo smiled and said...
