Notes: Messing with Space and time and alternate universes.
Duo stared at the small blonde. For some reason, he looked familiar. Almost as if he had seen the blonde in a dream once.
"You must be my roommate," the small blonde shook Duo's hands eagerly, "My name is Quatre."
"Duo," Duo smiled at his new roommate, "Are you all moved in?"
"Actually, I moved in earlier," Quatre replied, "So yes. Do you need any help?" Quatre stepped aside to let Duo in to the room. Half of the room was already filled with Quatre's stuff. Duo's eyes lingered for a moment on Quatre's poster of a desert scape.
"No, I don't have much," Duo shrugged as his eyes lingered on large shuffle bag he carried. He had seen parents wheel in ten boxes of stuff for their beloved child, but all he had was a shuffle bag.
"Not even a computer?" Quatre was incredulous.
"I think they have a lab downstairs," Duo shrugged as he plopped his bag on the empty bed, "I guess I get the right side of the room."
"Oh we can change sides if you want," Quatre quickly offered, "I don't really mind."
"It's okay," Duo unzipped the bag, "So where can we get something to eat from around here?"
"There is a dining hall downstairs," Quatre answered as he sat on his own bed across from Duo, "The RA is organizing a floor dinner tonight. Oh, and she mentioned something about wanting to meet all the residents. You should drop by to say hi. She's in 617."
RA. The image brought to mind of something from Felicity. Duo had never seen Felicity, but he remembered hearing something about the RA impregnating someone... Perhaps it would be a good idea for him to go meet this RA to get that image out of his head.
"I think will go do that," Duo shook himself slightly as he walked to 617, all of four doors.
The RA's door was decorated by a picture of Mulan. Above the door deck was a large name tag that read Meiran Chang. Slightly beneath Mulan was a small rainbow colored triangle. The label read Safety Zone on top, and UCLA LGBT on the sides.
From behind the door, Duo could hear sounds of explosions. Tentatively, Duo knocked on the door.
It took a moment for the door to open as a slender Asian girl greeted him.
"Are you one of my residents?" The girl smiled at Duo as she held out her hand.
"Yes, I'm Duo. I'm in 609," Duo replied as he shook her hand.
"Meiran," the RA introduced herself, "You must be Quatre's roommate."
"Yep, that's me," Duo picked inside the room. To his surprise, it was a cartoon, not some action movie that was making all the explosions.
"Oh, that's Gundam Wing," Meiran laughed when she noticed Duo looking at her TV, "It's about these teenage boys piloting giant robots. I really like anime."
Anime... Japanese animation, Duo quickly placed the word. He had never seen any himself, but at school he knew some guys were really into it.
"I have a poster of it there on the wall," Meiran pointed to a picture of five boys dressed in Nazi-like uniforms standing in front of a robot. Once again Duo felt a strong sense of déjà vu.
Meiran noticed Duo's lingered glances and laughed, "I know they look kind of gay. On the show there is nothing explicit, but I rather like to think of them as gay."
"Oh?" Duo raised an eyebrow. Father Collins was a very traditional priest, so Duo knew nothing of gay people.
"Yeah, personally I think the main character Yi Hemi has a thing for his fellow pilot Mark Dos," Meiran explained, "But of course most people don't think so. Anyhow, I'm sure you have lots of moving in to do so I won't keep you." Meiran took Duo's silence for boredom.
"Nice meeting you," Duo started to head back to his own room. Gay cartoons. Wow, that will give him something to think about.
"See you around. Please feel free to visit if you have any questions," Meiran waved good bye.
