Karaoke by babaca

The Preventers had been so hard at work stopping rebel factions and other miscreants from destroying world peace for weeks now, that Duo thought it would be a great idea if "the gang" got together and hung out some. Everyone had been on some many different assignments, he felt this would be a great way to reconnect with everyone.

So in a small but respectable restaurant that featured a karaoke bar, sat the boys of gundam with Noin, Lady Une, and Sally Po. Duo decided to serenade everyone (namely Heero) both on and off- key with a bewildering variety of tunes. Most of the crowd in the restaurant had started to get ugly. Duo had been up there for a solid half-hour before the emcee took mercy and the mike away from the braided boy.

Sally kept staring at Noin. "So when are you going to go up there?" she demanded.

Noin laughed, "Sally, I'm not drunk enough and besides he's not here."

"Hey-- a bet's a bet, Noin. You have to do it even if he doesn't show."

"Even if who doesn't' show?" Quatre asked finding himself drawn into their conversation. He could tell by the high blush on Noin's face that the "mystery person" must be Zechs Merquise. So to spare his friend embarrassment he changed the line of questioning. "What was the bet?"

"Oh it was silly, really, Quatre." Noin smiled at him. "Whoever finished their assignment first gets to pick out the method of torture."

"Excuse me?"

"Not REAL torture. It was something to get us motivated. If I finished first, Sally was going to have to-"

"Shut up, Noin! You don't have to tell him that part!" Sally flushed. "She lost. She has to convince Zechs to go home with her. But Duo bringing us here is a stroke of genius. Because even if dreamboat doesn't show, she will have to get up there and sing. That's my backup proviso. Besides she'll never manage to get blondie to want to take her home." Sally reasoned.

"Oh thanks, HEAPS for the confidence, Sally," Noin said sticking out her tongue before she realized she was doing this silly behavior in front of Quatre who was blushing anyway from the conversation. "Um, sorry, Quatre." She smiled.

"Well, looks like you'll get your chance after all Lucrezia, look what just blew in," Sally laughed.

They turned to see Zechs Merquise walking in with his sister Relena. Heero and Duo looked briefly at each other before they both groaned out loud.

"What is SHE doing here?" Duo whined. The siblings descended upon the crowd.

"Is there room for us? I was on my way here when Relena stopped by. Of course, I had to invite her."

"Of course," Heero said through clenched teeth.

"Heero!"

"Relena."

The emcee stood up. "And now for your entertainment ..." Shouts of "NO MORE DUO... NO MORE DUO" could be heard throughout the restaurant. "I present... Lucrezia!"

Noin glared at Sally and said to Zechs, "Take my seat. It seems I'm performing now." She slowly walked to the stage and briefly looked at the words of her song.

Noin was slightly terrified. Facing off against mobile suits was nothing compared to standing on a stage getting ready to perform in front of mostly complete strangers. She picked a song she'd always loved so she wouldn't look too stupid if she forgot to read the words on the video monitor.

A blues riff starts. In a timid, but strong voice, Noin sings (while silverware is clanging against plates and conversations are going on throughout the restaurant):

When I was a little girl,
Only twelve years old,
I couldn't do nothin'
To save my doggone soul
My mama told me
The day I was grown
She said, "Sing the blues, Child."
"Sing it from now on"

I'm a woman, oh yeah

Noin's voice gets louder. The crowd has stopped making so much noise and starts to look at the young woman who is now starting to sway seductively to the music.

I'm a woman, I'm a ball of fire
I'm a woman, I can make love to a crocodile

She says this with a seductive growl and winks at Zechs. He's flabbergasted.

I'm a woman, I can sing the blues
I'm a woman, I can change old to new

Now major sex kitten attitude started to play off Noin's body. It was like she had channeled into the spirit of a sexy, blues singer. And her sensuality radiated through to the crowd.

Spelled W-O-M-A-N
Oh yeah
That means I'm grown

Quatre's eyes were as wide as saucers and he's blushing. Trowa cast a wary eye at him before discovering that his own eyes had gotten wider. 'Wow, she's kind of sexy up there. Huh,' Trowa thought.

I'm a woman, I'm a rushin' wind
I'm a woman, I can cut stone with a pen

Sally handed a tissue to Wufei.

"What do I need this for, onna?" he huffed.

I'm a woman, I'm a lovemaker
I'm a woman, you know I'm an earthshaker

Noin was now on her knees on the stage staring directly at her table. She winked at Wufei, he nosebleeds. Sally laughed.

I'm a woman, I'm a rushin' wind
I'm a woman, I can cut stone with a pen

Noin had risen and walked off stage toward the crowd at her table, still singing. Everyone at the table sat in shock (even Heero has a raised eyebrow), but Sally smiled and encouraged her to continue.

I'm a woman, I know my stuff

Noin sang this line to Quatre before she took her tongue and seductively licked his cheek and gave him a small kiss. Quatre nosebleeds and Trowa threw him a tissue in both disgust and fascination.

I'm a woman, I ain't never had enough

Noin now sat on Zechs' lap. Actually she was straddling him and smiling while she continued to sing.

I'm going down yonder
Behind the sun
Gonna do somethin' for ya
That ain't never been done
I'll hold back the lightning
With the palm of my hand

She put her hand up in the air as if to demonstrate the lines in the song.

Shake hand with the Devil
Make him crawl in the sand

She pulled Zechs towards her for a quick kiss and released him. Everyone at the table offered him a tissue simultaneously but he didn't nosebleed. He did however have a deep blush that started at the roots of his blonde hair. She got up and returned to the stage.

I'm a woman, oh yeah
I'm a woman, I'm a ball of fire
I'm a woman, I can make love to a crocodile
I'm a woman, I'm a lovemaker
I'm a woman, you know I'm an earthshaker

'Oh yes, you are,' Zechs smiled at this thought.

Oh, Oh, Oh,
I'm a woman!

The song ended. The crowd erupted into major applause. Noin slipped out of her channeled blues singer self and shyly smiled to the crowd before vacating the stage.

As she approached her table, several waiters rushed the table carrying trays filled with drinks. They all say the same thing. "This are from various men in the bar for you, miss."

Noin laughed and said to her tablemates, "Well, I guess the drinks are free for us all, since I can't possible drink these all!"

"Well done," Sally said, clearly impressed.

"Thanks, Sally. You may be an evil bitch sometimes, but that was fun," Noin conceded.

"Noin, can I talk for you a minute," Zechs said while everyone scrambled to add a extra chair for Lucrezia.

"Sure Zechs. What can I do for you?" she asked distracted.

"What are you doing tonight after this?"

"Nothing much. Just going home and putting my feet up."

"Do you mind if I join you?" he asked.

Noin stared stupidly at him for a moment. Turned to see if Sally was listening (which she was although she pretended not to) before answering, "Sure. The more the merrier!"

~OWARI~

Sorry. I just love this Koko Taylor song (she is the queen of Chicago blues, you know). These images were popping in my head when I was listening to my cd. So I had to write it.

What do you think? It's not exactly a songfic but it kind of is one though.
