Title: Fly Away
Author: Draco
Warnings: Yaoi. Angst... (I don't think this is what the person had
in mind when they made the fic challenge.
Feedback: All comments would be much appreciated.
Archive: Tyr-sama (bows down steeply) if you still remember me... Could you please?
Notes: This is a response to a fic challenge. I don't remember who it was (gomen!!!) but recently someone on the list wanted a fic written to the lyrics of Fly Away by Aerosmith. Well... here it is!
Without me around, people just aren't responding to those fic challenges!!! (Duo whispers: talk about an inflated sense of confidence)
"Leave, Millardo," Treize warned him though his arms were still wrapped tightly around the younger man.
"Not without you," Zechs laid naked against Treize's bare chest.
Treize hugged Zechs tighter, and kissed Zechs's golden hair, "This is not meant to be, Millardo. Everything will change. You and I have always had different agendas."
"I know," Zechs whispered.
"But for this moment, there is only us and eternity," Treize said with his lips brushing against Zechs's face.
*Gotta find a way
Yeah I can't wait another day
Ain't nothin' gonna change
if we stay 'round here*
Treize's leg brushed slightly against Zechs' leg. The touch was barely there but Zechs felt flushed.
"Congratulations, Treize," Noventa smiled, "I trust you will be handling OZ with more finesse than your predecessor."
"I shall do my best," Treize said simply. Noventa nodded to Treize and Zechs with a knowing smirk before leaving with his three bodyguards.
Left to themselves, Zechs spoke immediately, "You can't do it, Treize. Your sense of justice and chivalry cannot tame a monster as great as OZ. OZ will consume you. Leave the position, Treize, don't take it."
Treize stood and looked outside the giant glass window, "I will run OZ with more justice and chivalry than its ever known, Zechs. Even if it consumes me."
"Treize."Zechs started, but then stopped himself. He simply walked over and stood next to Treize, and placed his hand on Treize's shoulder. For a moment, the two men's eyes met, but neither spoke again. Outside, a lone hawk flew aimlessly in a darkening sky.
*Gotta do what it takes
Cus it's all in our hands
We all make mistakes
Yeah, but it's never too late
To start again, take another breath
And say another prayer*
"It's not your fault," Zechs said to Treize's back, "It was Une's decision to kill them." His eyes fell on the report on Treize's table. There were the names of every single soldier of the seventy- three who had died.
"Ah, but it is I who allow her to do these things," Treize did not turn toward Zechs, "Perhaps my appreciation for lives have diminished over the years."
"I need sometime alone," Treize's voice was soft, but still he would not turn to face Zechs.
Zechs opened his mouth to speak but his words were a silent prayer, but no god heard him.
*And fly away from here
Anywhere, yeah I don't care
We'll just fly away from here
Our hopes and dreams
Are out there somewhere*
The lake was eerily quiet in the night. Zechs stared into the darkness and let out a long breath.
"I have a log cabin in the Sierras," Treize's voice sounded from near him. Zechs turned around quickly. He had not heard Treize's footsteps.
"Treize." Zechs started to speak, but Treize put his hand over Zech's lips gently, and the words melted into a kiss.
"I have never been there, but I purchased it because I thought. I thought I could use it someday," Treize said as he watched Zechs caressing his hand, "I am told that the country is beautiful this time of the year."
"Treize."
"Shh. just this moment, Zechs. just this moment," Treize kissed Zechs on the forehead, "We could take the train there, and then hike in the mountains."
"Do you know how to start a fire?" Zechs asked.
"No, but I was hoping you did," Treize answered.
Zechs smiled, "Is there a lake there too? Maybe we can go fishing. It's supposed to be relaxing."
"Do you know how to fish?" Treize asked.
"No, but I was hoping you did," Zechs answered.
*Won't let time pass us by
We'll just fly*
"Lt. Zechs has betrayed OZ, his loyalties are to his own country." Une reported to Treize.
Treize raised a hand to stop her, "I need a moment alone, Commander Une."
"He won't come back, Treize," Une whispered to herself as she left, but Treize heard her.
Treize opened the cabinet and took out a large bottle of Scotch.
*If this life gets any hard now
It ain't, no, never mind
You got me by your side
And any time you want
Yeah we can catch a train and
Find a better place
Yeah, cuz we won't let nothin'
Or no one keep gettin' us down
Maybe you and I
Can pack our bags and hit the sky. *
Zechs stared at his computer on the Tallgeese. He had received a file from Treize despite Tallgeese's security measures. Treize always found a way.
Very slowly, Zechs opened the file and inhaled sharply. The file contained pictures of the Sierras. The text file accompanying the photos only contained one word. "Someday."
Zechs hid his face in his hands.
*And fly away from here
Anywhere yeah I don't care
We just fly away from here
Our hopes and dreams are out there somewhere.
Won't let time pass us by
We'll just fly."
Treize watched Heero leave on Epyon.
"Epyon tells me I am destined to die by Millardo's hand," Treize whispered, "Please change that outcome."
*Do you see a bluer sky now?
You can have a better life now
Open you eyes*
"You take Epyon, I don't understand how he thinks," Heero told Zechs before he started to stumble towards Wing Zero.
Zechs hesitated for a brief moment before getting in to Epyon.
"Would Treize have given me Epyon if..." Zechs wondered out loud to himself. Reactivating the Epyon's systems, Zechs let out a long sigh, "Treize, I thought I choose a different path then yours."
*Cus no one her can ever stop us
They can try but we won't let them
No way*
Treize stared out from his mobile suit. In midst of the star sparkled sky, Libra stood.
"It ends here, Millardo," Treize watched his breath condense slightly in front of him.
*Maybe you and I
Can pack our bags and say goodbye*
Treize knew that he was going to die. He smiled a little. The boy did exactly what Treize wanted. Now Millardo won't be the one.
"I'm going before you, Millardo," Treize whispered.
*And fly away from here
Anywhere, honey I don't care
We'll just fly away from here
Our hopes and dreams are out there somewhere
Fly away from here
Yeah anywhere honey
I don't I don't I don't care*
Zechs stared the Sierras and smiled.
"We are finally here, Treize," Zechs said as he poured out the red rose pedals he had brought with him. A single tear escaped from his eyes as he watched the pedals fly happily in the wind.
*We'll just fly*
