[Rhiannon rings like a bell in the night,
And wouldn't you love to love her,
She rules her life like a bird in flight,
And who will be her lover...
And who will be her lover...]
Relena walked through the rooms one by one. She had made preparations for all the Gundam pilots to stay for as long as they wanted to.
A bell rang through the corridor. She peaked out of the door and wwas greeted by a pair of smiling violet eyes, "Konnichi wa, Relena-san!" Chirped the boy whose eyes had greeted her, "Gee, it was really nice of you to invite us..."
/Us?/ she thought, then caught sight of the solomn boy who had arrived with the bright eyed one, /They're friends. They must have road together./
"Yo," was Heero's greeting. Her eyes quested over his face, trying to get any idea of what he might be thinking. She watched the stoney eyes turn tender and concerned when the caught sight of the energetic youth examining the fountain in the center of the hall.
/What?! I've never seen him care about anyone, least of all *Duo*,/ she thought, /What was that expression? Was it compassion? Love?/ She must have looked distressed, as the violet-eyed boy bounded over to her.
"Daijoubu ka, Relena-san?" he said, then his face paled and he looked ill. /He must have seen the look on Heero's face,/ she thought. The look on his face was stoney, yet there was a look that said he was worried for... *him*. Relena had seen that look and took it that something disconcerning may have happened on their trip there.
[All your life you've never seen,
A woman - Taken by the wind. ]
Tears welled up behind her eyes. She exscused herself, motioning for Haruka or whoever to show them to their rooms.
She ran to the garden. She swore up and down to herself that she had not see what she thought she had seen. That it was just her imagination.
After about an hour, she had managed to pretty much convince herself that it had just been her imagination and not real.
That resolved, she returned to the house and began to set the servants about preparing dinner.
She soon got replies from the pilots.
Duo - declined, reason: headache Heero - accepted Wufei - accepted Trowa - declined, reason: none Quatre - declined, reason: ill
/Not too bad,/ she thought, /At least Heero will be there, and if I can get rid of Wufei.../
[Would you stay if she promised you Heaven,
will you ever win...]
Relena sat beside Heero and tried to talk to him, but the boy refused to even look at her. Out of bordom she proceeded to empty a couple of sake bottles.
Drunk, Relena lost all her inhibitions and came on very strongly to Heero. Finally, deciding that her ploys would not work on him, she turned to him and said, "Stay here with me forever."
Heero stood up in shock. He had thought she would quit and leave him alone when he had blaitantly refused to pay any attention what-so-ever to her. He was wrong.
Heero grunted and stalked off to his room. And Relena proceeded to loose her lunch and dinner at Wufei's feet.
[She is like a cat in the dark,
And then she is the darkness...]
Heero entered his room and locked the door. He looked over at his bed and the sleeping boy within. Heero sat down on the bed and placd a cool hand on the boy's forehead.
The fever had still not broken. He picked up the half naked body and carried it gingerly to the ajoining bath. He turned the water as cold as it went and placed the violet-eyed pilot in the tub.
Duo groaned and stirred, but did not wake. Although Duo had done a fair enough job in convincing Relena he was no different than usual, the minute he and Heero had set their bags down in Heero's room the fever got to him and he had colapsed.
The minute the fever broke, Heero took him out and dried him off, placing him in bed. Heero then proceeded to remove his own clothes and climb in bed with him, wrapping his arms around the slight frame of his lover. Duo curled up, trustingly, in his embrace.
Relena, having sobered, sat in the control room fuming. Not only had she embaraced herself by getting drunk and puking, but she had driven Heero off to his room.
She turned on the monitor for Heero's room. He was in bed already and...
Relena stood up, sending her chair clattering to the floor with the force of her rise.
/This can't be,/ she thought, /It wasn't my imagination./ She sat down on the floor unable to breathe. A mewling cry escaped her tight throat.
[She rules her life like a fine skyark -
And when the sky is starless - ]
Relena fled the grounds. /I can no longer try for him. He truly doesn't care for me,/ she thought. "Take us home, no need to remain here any longer." She said to her driver.
