Title: Requiem For The Forsaken
Author: Draco
Notes: Treize's POV. I just read Marlowe's Dr. Faust and wrote this.
Completely self indulgent on a cold Thanksgiving morning...

Requiem For The Forsaken by Draco

When presented with a choice between light and darkness...

The good angel said onto me, repent. Lay down your sword.

She, in her youthful idealism, had have forgotten the fall of the Morning Star. Full of golden airiness, she glided to me and bided me to join her.

The fallen one said onto me, repent. Lay down your sword.

He, in his pale glory, could not forget the splendor of paradise that he lost. Wearing the armor of tragic dignity, he lay tangled in my sheets and asked me to swear my devotion to him.

Do you not have enough power and wealth? The good angel asked me. Turn, she pleaded, and you will be on the road to salvation.

What hope have you in salvation? The fallen angel asked me. Do not pretend to desire His forgiveness, he chided, you have forsaken her God long ago.

I looked to the blood on my hands, and did lay down my sword and repented. But neither the light nor the darkness heard my contrition. And the angels took vengeance on me for my betrayal.

The good angel came to me and stabbed at me with her indignation.

How can you understand light if you have never embraced darkness? I asked the good angel.

She did not answer. She turned and took flight from me. Fleeing from the darkness that she dared not look out to.

The fallen angel came to me, and he did widen the wound with his apathy.

Do you not wish for her paradise? I asked him.

He did not answer. He turned and left me. Turning away from the darkness that he dared not look into.

Maledicat Dominus. They both did whisper.

So I lay bleeding, in the shadows between light and darkness, until judgment day when the good angel and the fallen angel both wielded their swords against me.

Though, it was the good angel's champion that did strike me down, I only felt the blow of the fallen one with his memory of paradise.

And in the moment of my death, I did pray. When given the choice between light and darkness, I had forsaken both and forfeited my salvation, so I prayed for the salvation of the fallen.

Endnotes: Maledicat Dominus. May the lord curse him.
