Well, Bob hit me upside the head this morning with the idea to do this fic idea... I don't know how well it'll work, since I've never done a songfic before, but oh well. Guess we'll see.
Okay, Gundam Wing doesn't belong to me... and neither does the song "Take That Look Off Your Face" (from Andrew Lloyd Webber's _Song and Dance_). Comments and Criticism always welcome.
Oh, yeah, I changed the lyrics just a little to make them fit...

[Relena welcomes Dorothy into her home, smiling warmly.
"I'm always glad to see you, Dorothy."
Dorothy smiles thinly as she sits. For several moments, the two women chat amiably as friends do. Then Dorothy casually asks about Heero. Something flickers in Relena's eyes, but she covers it quickly.
"Oh, he's on another mission."
"Really? I could have sworn that I saw him yesterday... with Duo, downtown."
Relena's face becomes expressionless.]

You must be mistaken
It couldn't have been
You couldn't have seen him yesterday
He's doing some mission for the colonies now
I hate it when he's away.

[Dorothy looks at Relena with pitying eyes as the other woman shakes her head no.
"I know what I saw... a guy with a braid to his waist, and another guy in a green tanktop and spandex shorts."]

You must be mistaken
I'm sure that you are
There's more than one boy with long hair
And lots of young guys wear olive tank tops
And I'd know if he hadn't gone.

[Dorothy shakes her head, looking amused at Relena's fervent denial, and a little smug.]

Take that look off your face

Couldn't wait to bring all of this bad news to my door
Well, I've got news for you
I knew before.

[Dorothy's eyes widen... "You knew? But... how?"
Relena just smiles sadly.]

If I'm not mistaken
I knew when it came
In fact I can name the very day
When we started to plan the future and all
He started to pull away.

[Relena looks wistful, thinking back to the way it had used to be between her and Heero... and how he had changed when she mentioned marriage. How he'd gone back to his old, closed-off ways.
"Why aren't you doing anything about this?" Dorothy demands. "Don't you want to know what's going on?"
Relena just shakes her head again.]

No I didn't dig deep
I did not want to know
Well you don't interfere
When you're scared of the things you might hear
Did you think I would end this now
As you would do?
Well my hard-bitten friend
I am not you.

[Relena pulls her pride around herself, staring at Dorothy defiantly. The woman just looks at her with a patronizing expression.
"Relena, you're letting yourself be used."
"So what? At least I have him for part of the time."]

Take that look off your face

I bet you couldn't sleep last night
Couldn't wait to bring all of this bad news to my door
Well I got news for you--
I knew before!

[Relena ushers Dorothy out the door, and closes her eyes. A tear slips down her cheek.]

<blinks> It's a little bit... eh... well... It was my first songfic... Let me know what you think? Should I just stick to straight fics, and leave the songs alone?
