I've got pieces of April
I keep 'em in my memory bouquet
I've got pieces of April
And it's a morning in May
---From "Pieces of April" by Three Dog Night
"Move it, guys!" I said in a volume befitting my hidden position as I watched the security net tighten around them.
"Damn it! They've shut down the controls to the bay!" Heero informed me needlessly with a growl in his voice. "Where to now?"
"On it," I replied, one step ahead of them since I'd seen it happening way before they had. I used my optical scanner to see if there were any maintenance tunnels nearby. The scanner was a sweet piece of technology. Once building schematics were encoded, the unit enabled me see support structures and passages based upon those floor plans. It also showed me heat sources, such as people, thanks to infrared sensors. Typing commands into the control module, I let my eyes roam over the area where my two lovers were waiting for directions.
I'd found that my short-term goals had shifted dramatically from the moment I'd signed my name on the dotted line and became a Preventer. I no longer worried about inconsequential things such as who didn't put the toothpaste cap back on (which led to it drying out), who didn't sort the laundry correctly (which led to me having a new black shirt turned into a splotched shade of gray), or who left the butter out from breakfast (which led to it melting all over the countertop). No, I was beyond all that, even if I still bitched about it when it happened. What I worried about was having more time time to get my lovers out of their messes, time to beat the shit out of them for being so careless once they were safe, and time to ravish them when anger and fear faded to thankfulness that they were still alive.
"Hurry up, Maxwell!" Wufei urged.
"If you guys hadn't tripped the alarm, we wouldn't be in this situation," I snapped back, my eyes desperately searching for a way out. "I remember telling both of you about the invisible sensors. Are you going senile?"
"We won't live to go senile if you don't get us out of here," my Japanese lover remarked.
"And we certainly won't get to celebrate any more holidays," my Chinese lover added.
I don't know if they thought that was a better incentive to get them out, or if they were just trying to lighten up the mood, but something caught my attention as I rolled my eyes at their idiocy. Scanning the pathway again, I spotted a port in the storm. "Hatch ten meters back." They were there in seconds, but I had a feeling it wasn't going to be that easy. I was right.
"The door is secured by code," Wufei snarled as Heero apparently tried to pry it open from the sound of things.
I brought up the access numbers, which I'd also loaded onto my little optical-friend's mini computer, and let the lens input the coordinates. "577593."
"Got it," Heero replied. The relief was evident in his voice.
I heard the punching of buttons and then the hiss of hydraulics releasing the door. It was all I could do to keep from whooping loudly, but since I was in a covert area myself, I thought better of it. I quickly scanned the building area and saw some guards approaching their location. "Shake a tail feather, ladies. Company is coming, and I don't think these types would like tea and cookies."
"Crumpets," Wufei corrected. Heero just snorted, and then there was only the sound of a door closing and a curse.
I smirked and kept looking for possible impediments to their escape. The guards had reached the hallway where my Agents had been but were doubling back; either they hadn't seen the tunnel or they didn't think their enemies could get into it. Score one for the good guys. I shifted my position, sliding back further under the bushes I was using for cover. I'd had to get pretty close to use my gizmo, but I was a helluva lot safer than my two lovers. I traced the route again, finally seeing an opening to the outside of the building.
"Tunnel ends in about 100 meters," I informed them before checking for the code to the door. "157295."
"What's that how much you spend on conditioner a year?"
Oh, so Chang was pissy? He should have been damn glad that I was there. I doubt anyone else would have even seen that opening, optical or not. Being a former street kid had saved my ass more than once in bad situations, and now it had saved my lovers too. How about a little gratitude? I grumbled to myself and then replied sweetly, "No. It's how many times I get to fuck you before I let you take me again, you bastard."
"That's enough," Heero's voice bit out. "We'll trade insults once we're all safe."
I agreed wholeheartedly and kept my mouth shut, only opening it long enough to give my Suddenly-Senile Asians the access code again. Once they had exited the shaft, closing the door behind them, I began moving out as well, melting into the shadows like I'd never left the stealth business. It didn't take long to make it back to the transport. Agent Hill, our getaway man, was grinning ear to ear.
"Do you guys ever do anything the easy way?"
I snorted. "Hey, it's not my fault, man. With those two, it would be a damn miracle." We both laughed, but it was cut short when the van door suddenly opened. I gave Heero and Wufei my best God-of-Death-Glare as I pointed a gun at them. "You're supposed to knock before opening the door, assholes!" I really looked at them then, noticing how they were both leaning against the van heavily, neither one attempting to get inside. "Are you hurt?"
Pissed off to protective in zero-point-three seconds, ladies and gentlemen that's me. I helped Heero in first when Wufei motioned towards him. After settling Heero onto the seat, I moved over and helped Wufei. Closing the door, I turned to them and began running a critical eye over each one as Hill began driving towards our rendezvous point with the helicopter. Bruises and cuts were visible, but the way Heero was holding his arm wasn't natural. Reaching around Wufei, I pulled the appendage out to where I could see a three-inch gash along the outside of his hand.
Heero grimaced as I turned it to get a better look. "Door slipped and cut it right when we entered the tunnel."
Hence the curse I grumbled and grabbed the first aid kit from the back of the front seat. "And you were going to tell me this when?"
Blue eyes met mine wearily. "Right before we began trading insults?"
I would have smiled if I hadn't been so upset. "Bastard... next time tell me as soon as you lay eyes on me, got it?"
Heero nodded towards Wufei, not really acknowledging my threat. "He's worse off. He twisted his knee. If he hadn't almost fallen out of the tunnel exit, I wouldn't have even known. It has to be swelling, and I doubt he'll be able to walk on it for a couple of days. I got the bleeding stopped from my injury already. Tend his."
"Yuy! I told you that I'm fine!"
I glared at them both. "You two are driving me crazy!" I sighed when they both refused to look at me. "Guys, this isn't the fucking war. If the three of us being lovers isn't enough to make you let me know when you're hurt, at least have enough respect for me to say something because we're partners!"
I had answering glares directed towards me and heard Hill choke on the soda he was drinking. Well, shit. I hadn't meant for our newest team member to find out about our relationship quite that way, but hell, Ro and Fei together were enough to make me forget about protocol completely. Sighing again, I levered myself to fit between the two front seats to try and do some damage control. Hill was trying to act like he hadn't heard, or noticed me breathing down his neck, but I reached out and punched his arm the way the Sweepers did when things got uncomfortable.
"Hey," I began, "I know you heard. I was going to get around to telling you..."
I have to give the man credit. He 'girded up his loins' and said, "Isn't that kind of thing against regulations?"
I grinned. "We were grand-fathered in. Besides, if they want to keep us, we're a packaged deal."
He glanced at me. "In other words, you won't go on missions if you can't go together."
"You're a smart guy, Ronnie. I'm glad we've got you with us. Maybe you can help me keep them from getting hurt too badly." I looked over my shoulder and then amended, "Well, not enough that they can't recover anyway."
Hill smiled then. "You'd better bandage Chang's knee before Yuy pulls a gun. They seem to have a weird way of saying 'I love you', and I don't really want to see domestic violence among the team."
I laughed and patted him good-naturedly on the shoulder. Sitting back, I saw two sets of slightly pissed eyes on me. I pulled the first aid kit back into my lap and yanked an elastic bandage out. I then worked Wufei's pant leg up. It was thermal lycra, so fairly easy to manipulate, and soon I had the joint exposed. "Shit, Fei! When the hell were you going to tell me about this?"
He glanced at Heero and then said in a level voice, "Right before we began trading insults."
I rolled my eyes heavenward then began wrapping the knee, accentuating each adjective with a tug to tighten the layers. "This is what I get for having two stubborn... proud... self-sacrificing... infuriating... idiotic..."
"Forgetful."
I looked up to see Hill smirking into the mirror. "Thanks, man... forgetful... former Gundam pilots for lovers."
"Are you done?" Wufei asked. I nodded as I secured the wrap. He sighed. "Good. Heero just passed out."
"Shit!"
We got back to the base in the area on the first of May. Heero had also suffered a slight concussion, so the second was spent with him in observation at the hospital. Wufei had been forced to wear a knee brace and take painkillers by a female doctor who rivaled Sally Po when it came to stubbornness. I had managed to berate both of my lovers on a regular basis for not telling me how hurt they were. On the third, we reported to headquarters, the whole day spent with reports before going off-duty. We crashed that night, slept through most of the fourth, awakening some time around ten that night. After eating a late dinner, we crashed again. What a great way to begin a month. Not.
When my eyes opened the next morning, I felt almost human again. Of course, having two warm bodies beside me would have made it better, but if my lovers were awake and out of bed, that meant they had to be feeling better. I smiled in happiness at that, thanking God one more time that I'd been able to help them to safety, before I got up to check on the Troublesome-Twosome. After pulling on some pajama pants, I strolled through the living room into the kitchen, nose taking in a very appetizing aroma. Have I mentioned how much I love Heero's pancakes? I must have at least once or twice. I saw a stack sitting there and nabbed them smoothly before I sat down.
"First you sleep in like you were the one injured then you swipe Yuy's breakfast without asking," Wufei observed crisply. "What's next? More bitching about how the two of us screwed up every mission since the war ended?"
I felt like he'd hit me. Yeah, I hadn't been physically hurt, but I'd gone through as much as they had emotionally. "I guess saving your ungrateful ass wore me out," I grated out, anger building, "And I didn't know the damn pancakes were Heero's. As for screwing up missions, if the shoe fits..." I pushed the plate away and got up to leave the room.
"Duo," Heero called before I made it to the door, and I turned to face him, expecting another reprimand from him. Let's take turns getting even with Maxwell for caring enough to say something. Maybe I wouldn't next time if they didn't want my help. They could sit in that damn van, nurse their own fucking injuries, and leave me the hell out of it. It hurt, damn it. I was surprised when tired blue eyes met mine in silent apology. It reminded me of why I didn't mean the shit I was thinking I'd do it all over again to protect them, and I knew it. Heero smiled at me as a peace offering. "Those will get cold if you don't eat them," he said when I remained silent, motioning to the table where the plate still sat. "Go ahead. I thought you might be up, so I was getting ready to make more for me when you walked in. Wufei is just being a prick because his knee is still killing him and he won't take his meds."
"Yuy..."
I really looked at Wufei then and could see the hint of pain he was trying to cover up. I thought about what I'd said to him and winced. He'd always had a problem with appearing weak, even in front of us. I'm sure my verbal attack hadn't helped. Reaching over, I tugged on his ponytail, something that had become a gesture of affection between us. Don't ask how or why. "I'm sorry, Fei. I shouldn't've said that. You know that I respect your and Heero's abilities more than anyone else's, and no injury is going to change that, so stop hiding things from me."
The scathing remark I knew he'd planned was replaced with a shamed look. "I... I didn't mean... I'm just..."
I smiled at him. "I know. Let's just start over, okay?" He gave me an odd look when I walked out of the kitchen and then back in within seconds. "Good morning! Pancakes smell great, Ro. How's the knee, Fei?"
Wufei shook his head, but he was smiling slightly at my silliness. "Better, but still swollen."
I grabbed the painkillers from the counter and shook out a couple, glaring as I handed them to the raven-haired man. "Take them, or we'll have to fight again." He sighed but then swallowed them. Looking at Heero as he sat down, I asked him, "You okay, Ro? Headaches? Nausea?"
"A little headache, so I'm still taking the pain meds," he replied, his eyes going to Wufei, who ignored the rebuke.
"All right then. Both of my lovers are relatively okay, I'm feeling better than I have in the past few days, and the mission is over," I proclaimed, stuffing my face with golden goodness that was still warm despite the interruption.
"So you're not angry with us anymore?" Heero ventured softly.
I blinked at him in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"You were pretty upset in the van... and at the hospital... and after we got home," Wufei explained as he wrapped my frazzled braid around his wrist... an apology of his own for earlier.
I looked down at my plate. "You guys scared the shit out of me and then pissed me off by not telling me that you were hurt." I leveled my gaze at each of them. "Why wouldn't I get upset?"
Heero nodded in understanding. "He's right, Wufei."
Wufei put his fork down. "I know." He then met our lover's expectant gaze. "But you know as well as I do how hard that is for both of us. I wasn't the only one hiding an injury, Heero."
There was a moment of perfect silent communication between them, and just like every other time that happened, I realized how unbelievably wonderful it was that they both wanted me as much as they wanted each other. The way they looked at those times always made me feel a deeper intimacy with them, like I was part of a sensual bond that no one else knew about. That desire overtook me with a sudden intensity.
I waited until they broke eye contact before blurting out, "May is Wufei Month so we should celebrate." My mind was going, "What?" as my body was saying, "Yes! I want to get naked with them!"
They both looked at me in obvious bewilderment, but Wufei spoke first, voicing my mind's question. "What?"
"We need a calendar," Heero stated as he began to get up.
I grabbed his hand, making him sit down again. "We don't need a calendar for the two holidays I want to celebrate."
Wufei rolled his eyes. "Okay, Maxwell, spill."
"Let's take a shower and then I'll explain..."
Without waiting, I got up and headed towards the aforementioned place, stripping off my clothes before turning on the water. Two equally naked bodies soon joined me under the spray, and even though there were several attempts at starting the festivities a little early, I quelled them in light of more comfortable surroundings for our fun. Drying off quickly, I high-tailed it to the bedroom, sliding under rumpled covers only seconds before my AmorousAsians. Feeling their warmth surround me, I knew that what I was getting ready to instigate would be just what all three of us needed to get over the post-mission stress and the tension from what had happened.
I thought about how Wufei had gently washed Heero's hand, how Heero had held his hot washcloth on Wufei's knee, and how they had both trailed their hands over my body like an erotic apology. I'd thought I'd gotten used to Death, but loving them had changed my perceptions, and the reality of them being hurt made me even more determined to take care of them when they refused to do it themselves. I'd learned so much already about the two men sharing my bed and heart things that no one else would ever know like Heero buying a new bookmark to go with a book Fei had ordered online, or Wufei getting special ingredients from the grocery for a new dish Ro had only mentioned in passing, or the way both of them have inside jokes but would take the time to explain them to me so I wouldn't feel left out. As they shifted beside me, I decided to make up for that morning.
"Happy Pilot-Oh-Five-by-Pilot-Oh-One Day and Pilot-Oh-Five-by-Pilot-Oh-Two Day," I said cheekily.
"Does that mean I don't have to wait one-hundred-fifty-seven-thousand-two-hundred-ninety-five times before I get to take you?" Wufei asked, amusement evident, but an underlying hurt I hadn't noticed there before.
I reached out and pushed back his black hair gently. "Sorry. I didn't mean that." He nodded and then curled his body around mine.
Heero slid his arm under my neck, moving to where my head was on his shoulder. I looked up at him and he mouthed, "He's really upset about you being upset. Show him it's okay."
I smiled softly at him. They were both upset because I was upset. I had to love them for that. " I will, but not only to him... you too," I replied silently. Winking first at Heero, I nuzzled Wufei's hair. "So, why don't we celebrate those two holidays, Wufei? You up for it? We'll have to be creative because of your knee, but I think we can do it."
My Chinese lover pulled away enough to look at me. The need was shining in his dark eyes. "Okay. How?"
I grinned. "Just lie back, Fei, and I'll show you." Both men moved as instructed Wufei to lie in the center of the bed down a bit from the headboard, his naked skin glistening, and Heero beside him on his hands and knees, ass towards me. What a nice view. "Okay, Fei. I'm going to prepare Heero. When he's ready, he's going to ride you while you take him."
"What about you?" Wufei asked. "If you think you're just going to watch, think again. I want all of us to..."
"I'm going to suck Heero off while you suck me off," I replied quickly. "Does that meet with your approval?"
"Works for me," Heero interjected, truly seeming satisfied.
Wufei sighed but then said, "It is acceptable, though I don't know how long Yuy will last."
Heero didn't take offense, even when I snickered. Instead, he just smirked. "We'll see, Chang."
I decided to intervene before things got out of hand again. Wufei's meds were stronger than Heero's and his temper was on a short leash as it was. "Guys, grow up, grow hard, and let's get on with it."
Neither of them commented as I began stretching Heero. He soon was kneeling over Wufei, placing the other man's cock to his entrance, as he began the slide down. I watched entranced. These two men were mine... MINE. I loved them both with all of my scarred and battered heart. They completed my soul. It was sappy as hell, but it was true, and seeing them joined together like that made me long to become a part of it all over again. When Heero was fully penetrated, I moved to hover over Wufei, inverted so his lips could reach my throbbing erection the way my mouth did Heero's. Gasps of pleasure filled the room as we moved together, awkwardly at first, but then developing into a nice rhythm. This was a new combination for us, but a very good one that I intended to do more often if I had my way about it. Wufei was thrusting into Heero's ass, I was sucking Heero's cock, and Wufei was sucking mine life was good. In fact, it was too good to last. Heero came first, taking Wufei with him. When Fei came, he dragged me along for the ride as well. The three of us collapsed on the bed, panting and sticky.
"I outlasted both of you, so deal. Round two as soon as we recover, guys," I warned them, gasping for air.
"Round two?" Heero asked breathlessly.
I gave each of them one of my patented sultry looks. "Yep. We celebrated Five-by-One Day. Now it's time to observe Five-by-Two Day."
Wufei snorted. "I take it that I'm in the same position with you and Heero switching?"
"Good looks, sexy as hell, and a scholar to boot," I sighed dreamily, which earned me a swat to my thigh. "Easy, Fei. Not ready just yet."
Heero chuckled. "He isn't either."
Wufei looked over my stomach and glared at our lover. "You're one to talk."
"Guys... not helping with the recovery here," I reprimanded gently. "Just because you're both on meds doesn't give you the right to be nasty to each other or me. Cut it out. I want a happy atmosphere, and you're killing the mood."
I waited, knowing what would be coming next, but it still made me... I won't say 'shriek' but it was damn close to it when Heero quickly rolled me onto my side, and Wufei began tickling me. I was soon laughing and begging them to stop, and Wufei did, but only to thrust his tongue into my mouth to claim it. I felt familiar fingers slide down into my cleft and stroke over my entrance, caressing it gently. Heero kissed my back and neck while Wufei nibbled my ear and continued to take my mouth. My cock hardened more as Heero's lubed finger entered me, sensitive nerves activating the pleasure areas of my brain. Yeah, I'm a body-soul-mind kind of guy when it comes to sex.
"How's this for the right ambiance?" Wufei cooed as he licked the shell of my ear.
"Oh yeah," I replied as Heero added another finger inside me.
"Sounds like he's pretty happy with it," my Japanese lover observed wryly, wiggling the invading digits.
"More," I responded, thrusting back against Heero's hand, and gasping when Wufei began stroking my cock.
"Yes, he does," my Chinese lover quipped, as his thumb traced over my tip.
I finally panted out, "Enough foreplay. Let's see who lasts longer this time."
They were more than happy to comply competitive bastards. I was soon pressing down onto Wufei's cock. Heero waited for Wufei to be completely sheathed before taking position just as I had. He cried out when Wufei enveloped his erection with his mouth, and the sound reverberated through me since Heero had just taken my shaft between his lips. With Heero blowing me, and Wufei fucking me, I was in absolute bliss. Heero had improved in his oral skills quite considerably over the past couple of months, so I was definitely enjoying the fruits of his labor. Wufei was always a satisfying lay, so things were really good at the Chang-Maxwell-Yuy house for yours truly.
"Close," Wufei warned grudgingly, before licking Heero and then thrusting his hips up to bury his cock again.
"Me too," Heero admitted just as reluctantly, his lips barely brushing my tip, causing me to groan.
"Soon," I added, my own hips bucking to get my dark-haired lover to suck me again. When he did, I thrust harder.
Another couple of thrusts, a few sucks, and a lick or two was all it took to send us over the edge. Wufei came first, his body tensing before his seed pumped into me. Heero followed, his moans of pleasure doing me in. I came in his mouth like I hadn't come in months. I could see Wufei swallowing, the look of pure satisfaction on his face as he took all of Heero's offering. We collapsed again on the bed... once more panting and sticky, but sated.
We lay there for some time. I thought about how my life had changed so much in just four months. I then thought of the current date and began laughing. My Amorous-Asians blinked at me, and all I could do was grin. "We need to get dressed, gentlemen! Tonight is one holiday we don't want to miss."
Wufei just sighed, resigned to his fate, but too tired to ask. Heero decided to do it for him. "What's tonight?"
Grinning widely, I leaned over and kissed my two Fabulously-Forgetful-Lovers. "Cinco de Mayo, guys! Time for Tequila!" Twin groans met my ears, but I kept grinning. They would indulge me by going out because they both loved me, and I would indulge them by letting them come home early because I loved them. Rain or shine, pain or pleasure, anger or passion, mission or downtime, we would find a way to make it all work because it was worth it.
April might have had a few cold and lonely nights, but May would seem even warmer because of them.
The End
