Part Eleven

Sunlight crept slowly over Duo's eyelids, bringing him to half-wakefulness. He felt... strange. Warm, very warm; it was pleasant. The last night was a blur in his mind, and he scrunched his forehead, trying to piece together his sleep-fogged memories. His eyes flew open, and he groaned. <Oh man, I made a fool of myself last night...! Crying like a baby... Heero probably thought I looked so stupid! Boys don't cry. I don't cry! Crap...>

Slowly, however, he became aware of the strong limbs tangled around him, the soft tickle of breath against his neck and shoulder. <Heero....?> he glanced up, trying not to awaken the sleeper. Sure enough, the dark-haired boy was there, eyes closed, sleeping soundly.

Duo stared, amazed and bemused, drinking in every bit of his friend's presence. Tousled hair, so soft, almost begging to be touched... beautiful lashes, sweeping over his cheeks, which were flushed with sleep... full lips, parted, letting each breath slip through....

He swallowed unconsciously, wanting so much to kiss those lips, to touch the soft skin pressed against his own. <Heero... I lo... care for you, so much... but I can't say it, or you'll die!> he wailed mentally. <Every time I tell someone I love them... boom. Gone. But I want you to stay... I want you with me. Please, let me be close to you...>

Shutting his eyes tightly against the world, he sank deep into the warmth of Heero's presence, savoring each moment, for however long it lasted.

<Warmth... heartbeat... surrounding me... but I'm holding it, as well... I will protect you, always... my mate... mine... Duo...> Heero sighed softly, slowly shedding the last remnants of sleep. He was waking to the world, and to the realization of his own feelings for Duo.

<I... care about you, Duo. I'm not supposed to... I was trained not to care. But I do. How can I? I'm not human, not really. You deserve more than me...>

Slowly, his lashes parted, revealing sleep-blurred cobalt eyes to the world. He focused quickly on Duo, still snuggled against him, but whose breathing and pulse indicated he was not truly asleep. Reluctant to break the moment, Heero hesitated. But his sudden desire to hold Duo tighter, to brush a kiss across the pale forehead, won out at last.

Duo looked up, startled, at the touch of Heero's lips on his brow. "H-Heero?" The beautiful blue eyes he adored were focused on him, gentle and contented. "Ohayo," Heero murmured, his voice deep and husky with sleep. His arms squeezed Duo tighter, and the violet eyes slid half-shut in pleasure. He would swear he felt so good he could faint.

Instead, he smiled, and returned the greeting. "Ohayo yourself, Hee-chan. What's up?" the last statement ended in a yawn, and Heero's eyebrow raised at the endearment. <Hee-chan... I like that... But it makes me want to kiss you.> Suddenly mischevious, Heero murmured, "Quite a few things..." and nuzzled Duo's lips with his own, pressing his hips close to Duo's, letting him feel the morning erection swelling beneath his boxers.

Duo's eyes flew open wide. "Heero?!" <Oh god, I must still be dreaming. This is too good... feels too perfect... can't be real...> If it was a dream, he certainly didn't want to question it. Instead, he closed his eyes and rocked his hips gently against Heero's, nearly purring as a gentle ache began between his thighs. <mmmm.... want you so much....>

"Duo..." Heero murmured, moving to kiss him once more. This time Duo's lips parted, and they met fully, tongues tangling, dancing in the space between their joined mouths.

Across the room, Odin chuckled to himself. <Finally!>

After a few more minutes of gentle touches and desperate kisses, Heero drew back suddenly, instantly missing the feel of Duo's lips on his own. "Duo... wait..." he murmured, his voice thick with passion. Duo's eyes, unfocused and glazed with desire, slowly focused on him.

"N-nani?" His eyes flew open wide, then, as the reality of what was happening hit. "Heero... gomen..." The beautiful cobalt eyes filled with confusion.

"What are you apologizing for? I was the one who... initiated this..." A faint blush spread over Heero's cheeks, making Duo giggle. Then he sobered. "I don't know... I'm just... really confused right now. I'm sorry for being such a baby last night, and..." he shrugged helplessly.

Heero closed his eyes, trying to collect his thoughts and his raging hormones. "There's nothing wrong with expressing your emotions, Duo," he replied finally, hands resting on Duo's shoulders. "I was told, once, to live by my feelings... but I haven't been doing that enough, it seems." He rested his forehead against Duo's, their breath mingling between their mouths.

"I... have a lot of feelings, for you..." The admission was very soft, almost hesitant, but it sent tingles up Duo's spine. <Heero...> The cobalt eyes would not meet his, as Heero struggled for words.

"I... care for you, Duo... very much. I want to explore what I feel for you, and I want to know what you feel for me. But before I can do that, I have to know.... if you can accept me, once you know everything about me. About what I am, where I come from."

Behind him, he could sense Odin moving toward them, seating himself on the end of the bed. Duo twitched slightly in recognition of the fact, but remained very close to Heero. <Heero... I want to tell you, but I can't....>

Heero pressed a final kiss to Duo's lips, then slowly slid out from under the covers. Crossing the room, he opened his laptop, and slid in one of the disks he'd acquired from Dr. J's lab. "Duo... come here."

With a tentative glance at Odin, whose face reflected support and concern, Duo slowly stood, crossing to stand beside Heero. The cobalt-eyed boy motioned to the chair in front of the desk. "Sit... this will take a while. I'll try to explain everything..."
