Duo slumped tiredly on one of the backward kitchen chairs, facing a table decorated with a single flower—Wu Fei's work from the look of it.
He rested his chin heavily on his crossed arms and pondered the cooling cup of coffee centered directly in front of him on the well-worn surface. Smooth, twisting tendrils of steam rose in chaotic patterns from the hot liquid.
Maxwell's Demon had been visiting again. He closed his eyes and rolled his shoulders to relieve the accumulated stress and tension that had built there during the minutes his beverage cooled. He was trying to figure out a solution to a problem that had been on his mind for a while now.
"Maxwell's Demon"
"What?!"
“Maxwell's Demon. To solve an impossible problem, have an imaginary demon do it for you. Twentieth-century thermodynamics. James Clerk Maxwell, you know…”
Duo's giggled mentally at the vague expressions arrayed in front of him. "Did you really think Maxwell's Demon was a reference to me?" He was tickled pink at the thought despite the seriousness of the upcoming mission.
