250 word ficlet: DAYDREAM
(Trowa's POV)
Heero never intended to rescue Duo from the OZ prison. Intended to put a bullet through his head, remove the source of weakness. But they ended up leaving together, in a stolen shuttle Heero later destroyed.
I used to wonder whether I should have freed Heero when he was captured. I considered it several times before Wufei joined him.
I would have left my quarters early, about an hour before the morning rush. Une would have been asleep at her desk, having stayed up late working, as usual. I would have killed her in passing.
The guards along our planned escape route would have been quickly despatched, and explosives strategically placed to provide the optimum cover.
Heero's cell was in a corridor of its own, having been specially created for the purpose, with two soldiers on watch at the door. They would have been nearing the end of their shift, and beginning to tire. I would have stolen their guns and knocked them out cleanly, before proceeding to disengage the lock.
Heero would have been crouched in one corner, ready, waiting. He would have risen upon my entrance, and stood before me with an expectant look in his eyes. I would not have raised my gun to shoot him, as he did with Duo. I would have bypassed all that, and handed him a spare without hesitation. And he would have taken it gladly, just as I imagine Duo doing, and raised it to his head, and shot himself.
