"Relena, this is Duo. I thought I'd call and tell you that my roommate will be out this weekend. His mother is getting some sort of plastic surgery done, and he wants to be there to try to stop her from doing it or something like that. So, y'know, co-ed dorm... If you want to spend the weekend together, let's make it *together*. I already found out where your seminar is, and all the info about it, and it's a block away at that lecture hall next to the really good Thai restaurant. You know the one I'm talking about. So, give me a call if you're interested. By the way... I love you."

Smiling, Relena picked up the phone and dialed Duo's number. He'd only called about half an hour earlier, so he might still be in.

"Hey, sorry... I'm in class right now. Leave a message, and I'll call you next time they stop trying to whip me into something the world won't point and laugh at. If you don't leave a message, what you have to say can't be important... And, if it's not important, it can wait until the next time I see you! Unless, of course, you're Relena. If you're Relena, you're absolutely, positively wonderful, and any moment you'd like to spend talking to me, well, there's my world. Start speaking at the tone!"

Relena giggled. "Duo, your answering machine message is what's absolutely, positively wonderful. How many of those messages do you have programmed on your machine? I've heard about nine so far. But, yeah, this is Relena, but you knew that because you can always recognize me on the phone. I'm just calling to tell you that I have no idea whether I'll be able to stay with you. However, I will overcome all obstacles! That is, unless the world decides to explode before then, I'll find some way to stay with you. My flight is coming in Friday night at... hold on... let me find the tickets... okay, here we go. 8:52pm. Any chance you can be there to pick my butt up? I'll be the one in the pink." She giggled again. "Love you, Duo. Let me know."

As soon as she hung up the phone, she realized she was out of almost out of the essential foods. Heero must have had a big lunch before he moved out. Shaking her head, Relena walked into the kitchen, and began to make a list of all of the things she needed. When she finished, she glanced over at the phone. "He's in class... So, he won't be back for another half an hour. He never checks his messages as soon as he walks in the door... So, I can run and get this stuff now and be back for when he calls! All right, Relena. This is going to work out just fine."

Wrapped up in her giddy thoughts, she didn't hear the telephone ringing just as she was shutting the door. Almost an hour later, Relena dragged into the house pouting grandly. "Stupid checkout clerk. The man had one pinky and it was half gone! He broke my eggs four times, charged me twice on three different items, charged me twelve times on that stupid box of glazed doughnuts! And, slow! I hate to be discriminatory, but there are just some jobs that some people should not have!" Flouncing into the kitchen, Relena began to put her groceries away, making a face at the egg carton which was leaking slightly. Then, the flour bag broke open as she stood on tip-toe to put it away. As she looked down and saw the flour scattered all over the counter, the floor, and her, she began to laugh uproariously and fell to the floor, throwing the flour up in small handfuls. "Damn you, Heero! You, and your stupid homemade pancakes in the morning! Argh!"

Relena leaned her head back against the cabinets, and noticed the light blinking on the phone, indicating that there was a new message. Rushing through the flour, sliding, and sending up a white trail behind her, she practically dived for the phone to play the messages. She listened attentively, and rested her chin on her flour-smudged arms on the counter.

"It's Duo. I just got your message. We all got out of class early because the professor starting throwing up. I hate it for the guy sitting next to me. Mendelson was standing over him when he went. Good thing the splash factor on that one was kept to a minimum. But, since I have half an hour before my next class, I'm going to run down to the student center and pick up the forms I have to fill out for you to stay with me. C'ya then!"

Smiling slightly, Relena pressed the button to play the next message. "Relena? It's Duo again. I'm at the student center now... standing in line, in fact. Luckily, the line is next to the phone wall. Gotta move up now. I love you."

The smile grew wider. But, more messages still? Relena stood up and pressed the next button. "Me again. I love you still. Yay! Gotta move down now." The next four messages were all, "I love you." Now smiling very widely, Relena pulled herself onto the counter and pressed the next button again. "While I'm standing here at the last phone, I thought I'd ask you something. Will you marry me?"

The smile wavered slightly, and Relena put her hand up to her mouth. The smile was back, however, as Relena quickly dialed Duo's phone number. The answering machine message played out quickly, and Relena smiled. "Yes." Hanging up the phone with a distinct amount of satisfaction, Relena dusted a majority of the flour off of her clothing and began to clean up, saving what bit of flour she could from the bottom of the bag.

Once the kitchen was relatively clean, save a bit of flour swept discreetly under the stove, Relena ran through the house spinning and singing and generally being happy. Falling down on the fluffiest couch, Relena shrieked, "He loves me!" and threw a pillow up in the air where it was promptly caught in the ceiling fan and sent into the African violets. Still boundlessly happy, and giggling, Relena ran up the stairs and into her room, beginning to get things ready for her trip.

"Duo... I'm going to make you the happiest husband a woman ever had. And, I won't ever find you screwing my brother. And, we'll have a couple kids, and they'll have fun growing up in a house where they have a loving environment... and, oh, who am I kidding? I'm going to have fun! Duo Maxwell... I love you."
