Notes: Not mine, except for Mr. Bunny, Mr. Hyuy, and Sara. And I am borrowing Hyuy's name without permission. But since Hyuy is such a loving wifey, she will not attempt to bite my head off ^________^, ne, wifey?
Warnings: Fluff, lots of fluff. I hope this is what you had in mind Tyr.
With one arm around the abandoned bunny Relena knocked on her daughter's door.
"Sara, can I come in?" Relena asked carefully.
After a moment of silence, there was a chocked sob and followed by quiet words, "You can come in, Mommy."
Sara was sitting on her bed hugging a pillow, her eyes swollen from crying.
"Look Sara, I found Mr. Bunny," Relena held out the large pink bunny to the six year old, "I found him outside your window. He was out there in the cold! And look, part of his ear got torn."
"I don't want him any more!" Sara turned her head away from the bunny.
"Why not?" Relena asked as she seated herself on the edge of Sara's bed, and placed Mr. Bunny on the carpet beside her, "I thought Mr. Bunny was your favorite. Duo will be hurt if he finds out that you tossed the bunny he gave you out the window."
"I don't care!" Sara declared, "Duo doesn't love me any more!"
"Honey," Relena let out a long breath, "Of course Duo still loves you. I have it on good authority that you are going to be the maid of honor at the Wedding next week!"
The words 'maid of honor' elicited a loud sob from Sara.
"But he's marrying Heero!" Sara cried, "He's supposed to marry me!"
"Oh," Relena said as she reconsidered her course of action. Suddenly she stood up from the bed, "I will be right back."
Sara blinked, and wondered what her mother was up to. Relena returned shortly carrying a stuffed bear.
"Mr. Hyuy!" Sara recognized said bear.
"Do you know who gave Mr. Hyuy to Mommy?" Relena asked as she replanted herself on the bed while holding the bear out to Sara.
"No, who?" Sara asked as she happy accepted the bear and caressed the heart shaped patch that was its tummy.
"Heero," Relena said. Sara's mouth dropped open.
"Heero?" Sara repeated incredulously, "But he's so serious! I don't see why Duo even likes him."
"Well, when I was about fifteen, I was in love with Heero too," Relena explained.
"YUCK!" Sara stuck out her tongue.
"Well, when I think about it now, it is kind of weird," Relena tugged at the bear slightly, "But back then, Heero was my hero."
Sara giggled at the simple pun.
"He saved my life," Relena continued, "And he gave me Mr. Hyuy for my sixteenth birthday."
"That's why he's named Mr. Hyuy!" Sara exclaimed. She paused slightly as if thinking about something else, "Why didn't you marry him?"
"Some things are just not meant to be," Relena smiled slightly at the remembrance of her younger days... her persistent younger days, "Heero had a crush on Duo even way back when."
"That long ago?!" Sara's mouth dropped open again.
"Yep," Relena nodded, "It took them a while to figure things out, I guess. Anyway, when I found out that Heero liked Duo better than he liked me, I was so mad that I..." Relena stopped abruptly.
"You what, Mommy?" Sara inquired eagerly.
"Well, I sort of took a pair of scissors and unstuffed Mr. Hyuy," Relena blushed slightly, "I wasn't the good girl you are. And I was very hurt that Heero didn't love me back."
"Then what happened?" Sara stared at the perfectly stuffed bear.
"Well, I threw Mr.Hyuy out the window and thought I would never see him again," Relena confessed.
"So this isn't the real Mr. Hyuy?" Sara said suspiciously.
"No, it is," Relena took the bear from her daughter and placed it on her lap, "You see, when I tossed Mr. Hyuy out of the window, your mother was there to save him."
"Oooooo," Sara's mouth formed a circle.
"Your mother restuffed Mr.Hyuy and put this heart patch on his tummy where it was torn before," Relena gently traced the heart on the bear, "And a year after we started going out, she gave me the bear. She said that she knew that I might want it back someday, so she kept the bear for safe keeping. And now that it was all patched up, I could have it back again. I think that's when I decided I loved your mother."
Sara stared at the bear and then at her mother, and then at the bear again.
Then, without a word, Sara picked up Mr. Bunny and started to walk out of the room.
"Where are you going?" Relena asked curiously.
"I'm going to ask Nanami to sew Mr. Bunny's ear up for me," Sara replied.
"Okay," Relena smiled as she watched her daughter leave to go to the Winner-Barton's.
Soon after her daughter was out of sight, Hilde's head popped into the room.
"Where is Sara?" Hilde asked as she glanced around the room, "What are you doing with Mr. Hyuy?"
"Sara torn Mr. Bunny's ear a little bit, she's gone to ask Nanami to fix it up for her," Relena replied as she got up from Sara's bed and walked toward her wife.
"Sara is going to ask a seven year old to sew something?" Hilde raised her eyebrow slightly.
"They could always use duck tape," Relena suggested while she put her arm around Hilde.
"By the way," Relena said as she put Mr.Hyuy over her heart, "Thanks for patching it up."
