A serious story about Duo reaching out to Heero and what becomes of it.

Heero was sitting on the bed in his pajamas, typing away on his keyboard. Duo hopped on the bed and snatched the computer away. "Oi, use the fingers for something else, if you know what I mean?"
Heero glared at him. "Duo!"
Duo put the computer on the nearby table, then rolled on top of him. He licked the end of his nose and said, "Shall we begin?"

"Heero, you're late... What the hell were you doing out so late?" Duo said as he heard Heero open the dorm room door.
"Go to sleep!"
Duo flipped on the lights. My sleep is ruined anyway, he thought, then he saw it. What are all those hickies doing on his neck? "What, come back from some late night session?" Heh, didn't think Heero was a lady killer, Duo thought sarcastically.
There was a pause. "I suppose you could say that," said Heero. Then he took off his jacket and shirt.
Duo gasped. Kuso, he thought, he recognized scratch marks and bruises all over Heero's marks. "Oh my God, what the hell happened?"
Heero said nothing.
"You should go to the doctor."
Heero snapped. "It's nothing."
"Heero, I'll call the doctor if you don't tell me."
"Lets say that one of my informants wanted to take things a bit further than I wanted."
Duo let the import of that statement wash over him. "What? Are you saying that someone tried to... "
"Don't worry, I've taken care of things. It won't be happening again," Heero said dismissively.
"Heero?" He's not acting stunned at all. Has this happened before? thought Duo.
"What?"
"You deal with people who try to do this type of thing to you?"
Heero shrugged. "I have to do anything I can to win and that person was the only one who had the information I needed." said Heero. "It doesn't matter what happens to me or what tactics I have to use."
"CHIGAUUUU!!!" yelled Duo. "You're wrong! You're wrong!" He grabbed Heero by the arms and said, "You can't treat yourself like that. You're not a just some damn blow-up doll."
Heero turned away from him. "Let go or I'll hurt you."
"Not until you get it through your head that you don't have to go so low."
"Don't tell me what to do!" Heero growled. "You do your missions while I do mine. As long as I don't screw up your missions... " Then he shook Duo off. "Go to sleep."
"I hate it, Heero."
"I crushed your illusions about me?" Heero sneered.
"No, I hate seeing this happen to someone who's this important to me."
Heero stared at him.
"What? Haven't you gotten it through your head I care about you? Why do you think I'm here?"
"You must think you've made a mistake now." Heero turned his back on him, but then felt two arms wrap around him and hold him tight.
"You're wrong, Heero." Duo said. "You don't know how wrong you are."
"I... don't understand," said Heero, half to Duo and half to himself. He's just like everybody else. He just needs me to help him with his missions, his own purpose. Why is he acting like this? Acting like...
"Well, can I help you clean you up a bit, at least? Wouldn't want those scratches infected, huh?"
Acting like he cares... he thought. There was a pause. "Ahhh."

"Duo?"
"Nani?" Duo said, yawning. Heero was one tough customer to please.
"Why did you reach out to me? It's not like I gave you much encouragement."
"Why, all of a sudden?"
"I just want to know."
Duo turned on his side to look at Heero. "Your eyes."
"My eyes?"
"First time I saw you, I could tell by the expression in your eyes that you were sad. You didn't want to pull a gun on her, but you felt you had to. The time you fell nearly all the way down and the time you walked into our dorm room that one time... you looked so tired and resigned to it all. I wanted to change that look on your face. I wanted to scream, shout, fight, do whatever it took."
"What do my eyes say now?"
He's so cute when his eyes are smiling, Duo thought. "Um, you want to do it one more time?"
"Baka."
Then they both laughed.
