Yes, a 13+Sally fic, no hentai. It takes place shortly after the Episode Zero where Wufei's past is revealed. Probably a bit OOC, but I like to think that perhaps Treize would like to talk to someone who's not so dead serious & intense all the time but who still understands one or two things about him.
"You didn't destroy the colony," stated Treize to the woman standing before him in his office.
"No, Sir," said Sally.
"And why not?"
"The men were sent out to fight as you ordered. They were defeated. I figured that since they were unable to destroy the colony that way, it shouldn't be destroyed at all." Then she hesitated, then said, "Permission to speak freely, sir."
"Yes, and please drop the sir and sit down."
Sally sat down in the leather chair seat in front of the desk. "Using a biological weapon to destroy an entire colony of people who aren't a threat is something I just couldn't do. It's not what I went into the army to do. I am not a naive woman but if I were to use such a weapon, I would be nothing more than a butcher." Then she paused and said, "Am I going to be punished for not destroying it?"
Treize shook his head. "No, I agree with your actions and I've conveniently shuffled a few documents here and there to conceal its existence. Sometimes, you can use the military bureaucracy to your advantage." He gave her a little tired smile. "It's been a long time since the Academy, hasn't it, Sally?"
Sally let out a sigh of relief and sensing the more casual atmosphere, said, "Yes, Treize, it has been. I always knew you'd go pretty high, but this is mighty impressive. Are you still the playboy that I knew?"
Treize gave her a little sharp laugh. "Hardly. I'm so busy approving things left and right, fighting or arguing with my 'superiors' that I treasure any time I can spend by myself."
"I see that Une's become your assistant. You should be careful, she might get jealous about the time I'm spending in this office talking to you." She gave him quite the cheeky smile.
An ironic little smile flitted across his face. "Yes, Une. She idolizes me just like the rest of my soldiers." Then he looked down and said, "But it doesn't make me happy."
"Why?"
Treize looked down and said, "Because idolization can so quickly turn around to become hatred the minute they find the least imperfection. They will accuse you of lying because you are not what they wish you to be." His shoulders sagged from the weight of expectations of others.
She put her hand on top of his. "How about Zechs?"
"He's the one who idolizes me the most of all."
"I see."
The phone rang . He picked it up, then said, "This is Treize... I see... I see... I'll be there within the hour." Then he hung up. "I'm sorry but I have to leave for an emergency meeting with the other generals. But I was wondering if you wouldn't mind joining me for dinner tomorrow... "
"Dinner?"
"Dinner."
"Dinner and nothing more," said Sally, raising an eyebrow.
"Still as cheeky as ever."
The End
