Title: See Them Come A-Dancing
Author: AKI
Warnings: None
Pairings: None (that's gotta set about nine-tenths of the GWfandom turning on their heels)
Disclaimers: None (Let's be honest. If you're here, you obviously don't care.)
Notes: This intro is longer than the bloody poem itself, which was spawned in about two minutes time from a singsong rhythm in my head. However, I would like to state a few things. 1) Thank you, people who dropped me a line and requested more of my work. I've realized that my older work sucks. Heck, my newer work sucks, just that my older work sucks even more. However, since some of you would like to see it, and since I sort of hate to leave things hanging, I will attempt to finish both 'Wings' and 'Pity Not Icarus.' 2) This poem is straightforward (geez, I hope). It's about the aftermath, when a war is "won". Think like Wufei's speech when he confronted Wing Zero before the showdown with Mariemeia.
See them come a-dancing,
Flowers in their hair.Quickly, soldier, hide your gun--
Just throw it anywhere--
Quickly, soldier, wipe your hands--
And join them, if you dare.Hear them come a-singing,
Caroling their glee.Hurry, soldier, make a smile--
Don't let them look and see
That you can take no pleasure from
A fallen enemy.Watch them as they go by,
Merrily they roll.Look up, soldier, as they leave,
Feel your burden's toll--
Look sharp, soldier, gather up
The pieces of your soul.
The End
