Disclaimer: No money is being made off this, just a little bit of fun in
someone else sandbox. I'll leave the toys unbroken.
Notes: Alrighty, a little bit of introduction to this one. As you all might have
gussed I'm sort of going through the experiences of each team. This
includes Wufei of course. I'm going to be up front and say that I do not
have a very strong "Wufei" voice. I'd been fighting back and forth with
this piece for a couple of days now because I knew it would be difficult for
me. I decided to tackle it, because I know there are a lot of Wufei fans and
I wanted everybody to have a little something of their favorite characters to
enjoy.
That said. I am not out to make Wufei look like a jerk. Some of his thoughts in this segment might be a little.. harsh but to me that is how the character is drawn. Wufei has a very firm belief in himself and in his views. In many ways I found him more focused then Heero was. I'm not trying to say that this is a good thing, or a bad thing. It's the way Wufei comes across to me.
::Grins:: I'll let you all decide what is meant by the Treize references. One hint. It's not as simple as it may look.
Now on to your regularly scheduled insanity.
Wufei finished deactivating the last device. It had been an insult to his skill and his training. These people were little better then children playing with expensive toys. Wufei ground his teeth. He missed the challenge that had been Treize Kushrenada.
Settled behind a crate, biding his time, the Chinese boy frowned. Where had that thought come from? He had not allowed himself to think about Treize in nearly a year. Ever since his battle with Heero, Wufei had striven to release the memory of the one man who had been stronger then he was. It was an everyday battle. Like an addiction.
When he had learned that Zechs Marquis, presumed dead, was in fact alive Wufei had felt a glimmer of hope stir in his still heart. If Zechs had survived that horrible time, then could Treize not have also survived? After all, the Tallgeese II had been a powerful mobil suit. For a time Wufei had quietly searched. Going back over all the records from the battle, going over the blue prints of the Tallgeese II, seeking and searching for any hint that would allow him to believe that Treize had survived.
Only one simple fact answered his every query. Epyon was made from gundanium alloy. Tallgeese II, was not. Epyon could survive the blast, Tallgeese II... had not.
Wufei closed his eyes and choked back the knot of pain and depression that tightened his chest. Now was not the time to allow these thoughts entrance into his mind. He had a mission to perform, the others were counting on him... he had to be strong.
He had to be strong.
He had to be strong... because the one man stronger then he, was gone.
Wufei sucked in a breath and flung his head back. Forcing himself to breath evenly and slowly recentering himself within his chi. He needed his focus. As he worked to evening out his heart-rate and breathing Wufei felt a small shudder run through the satellite and then the alarm klaxons sounded.
Bah!
One of the other teams had been spotted. Twisting about behind his crate Wufei looked out into the storage room. The two women had already fled out the exits along with two of the men. That left three men in the storage area. Wufei sneered. Fools. Abandoning one of the key areas to seek out glory elsewhere. They would pay for their misguided response.
Not even bothering with his gun, Wufei vaulted gracefully over the crate. With a cry he launched himself into the air. Leading with his right leg, he planted the sole of his foot soundly into the chest of one of the remaining guards. The man's eyes bugged out as the wind left his lungs and he hurtled backwards against the wall.
As he landed, Wufei spun about and lashed out with his right arm. Hand held in a perfect blade like angle he brought it down on his next opponent's vulnerable neck. Hearing a crunch and a thud as that man fell. Wufei dropped and rolled, feeling bullets whisk through the air where his shoulders had been as the final guard fired desperately at the quick young man.
Straightening in a slight crouch, Wufei spun low. Balanced on his hands and his right leg, he snapped out his left foot, kicking just below his opponent's knees, making the man tumble forward into a snapkick that shattered the bones of the guard's jaw. The falling man couldn't even cry out as he dropped like a brick onto the floor.
Flipping neatly up to his feet, Wufei looked about him with a sense of disappointment. It was hardly worth his time. Sighing he moved towards the still conscious but wheezing man grabbing a bit of rope on the way.
Nataku, but he missed Treize.
