NOTES: This started out as a response to Fenwyck's feedback question about a line in Shades of Love.

>  >  He and Duo spent hours on end out in the surf, splashing
>  >  around like fools and digging in the sand like two demented children
>  I'm repeating myself, but I really love the way you write these guys.
>  I can really relate to them like this--I mean, this is the sort of

>  Gundams? ;)

Since she seemed to really enjoy it, even giving me a few much needed grammatical touch-ups! I now share it with everyone else in hope you enjoy the little blip. Sort of an outtake.... kinda like Differance of Opinions but quicker and sillier.

But... They Look So Innocent by Laekin

Two older women were taking their morning stroll along the beach. Their doctors had encouraged them to get out more and get some regular exercise. As they walked along they came upon a wholesome scene. Two young men sat on the sand, busily digging and building a structure, talking animatedly amongst themselves.

"Oh look Pearl, isn't that sweet. So rarely do you see two teenagers building a sandcastle."

"Hmm... Aww, you're right Martha. Don't they look adorable."

The two ladies continued to coo as they approached the two young men. The morning sunlight played up the pale gold of the one boy's hair and lit up the auburn highlights in the long chestnut braid that trailed along the second boy's back.

Both boys were on their knees, the small blonde backing up carefully, drawing a line that looked like a moat around the structure they had built. Martha and Pearl paused watching the scene with sweet smiles on their faces. As they stepped a little ways up the beach, the conversation coming from the young men drifted on the air back towards them.

"...So you see Quatre, if you set the charges here and here, then the weight of the structure will pull itself down. You don't need piles upon piles of explosives."

"Even with the adjusted gravity in the colonies?"

"Even there. The principles of demolition still apply, you just have to remember to take out at least 4 structural walls."

"Hmm... that would mean the team would have to carry less equipment. Still, what about the guards here, here, here and here."

"Well, you'd need a second person to be shooting from down here."

The two boys talked as bright and chipper as a pair of happy larks. It was only the topic of the conversation that shocked. The blonde continued to dance around the sand structure, using shells to indicate detonator placement and small pebbles to indicate bodies.

Martha and Pearl looked at each other and blinked. Then both ladies turned a 180 and headed back down the beach.
