Note: About three weeks ago, I posted to my Live Journal a request for plot bunnies I could turn into drabbles or short ficlets. Those being the best I've been able to do since life and luck have been fickle pains in the rear for the last year or so. This is a result of one of those plot bunnies, the challenge given by Fierydragonsky, a friend on LJ. Her challenge was the title and the first part of the opening sentence. (If there was one thing Heero couldn't resist, it was... )
If there was one thing Heero couldn't resist, it was a good old fashioned tearjerker of a movie. It didn't matter if it was on television or at a theater, he never missed one. It was a secret pleasure he shared with no one, not even those he counted as his closest friends.
It had started not long after Dr. J had found him and invited him to become a part of Operation Meteor. His training had been hard and ruthless. It had to be, if he were to become the perfect soldier, if not the perfect weapon.
But Heero knew what they were doing and he wasn't going to let it happen, at least not completely. So he worked and he trained hard and never complained, doing whatever he could to convince them his heart was dead. But during his downtime, when he was allowed a small respite, he'd sneak off to a theater and ask the ticket seller which movie was the saddest.
He'd sit alone in the dark, with a big tub of popcorn and something to wash it down with and he'd watch, and wait for the tears to flow.
