Disclaimers: I don't own a katana or any of the Gundam Wing Universe. I'm not making any money off this story, so please don't sue me.
Important Notes: Chang Wufei's katana defended and protected both himself and those he loved, yet by the end of this deliberately open-ended fic, he will have it no longer. The ultimate choice of *why* he no longer has the blade will be left to the members of the [3x5_5x3list] and their choice will be reflected in the final installment after they get to vote on the matter. Also, in case you're wondering, I made up almost all of the scenes and embellished those I didn't create from whole cloth, but what else is new?
"Enough, enough," Sally laughed as she stepped past the growing number of well-wishers on the sidewalk. "Save the hugs and kisses for the reception, please, Trowa. Do you two think you can walk all the way over to the hall next door or did I need to get that limo Quatre arranged for to do it?"
"Make them walk, Sally," Quatre laughed, "If they get in that thing now, they'd never come back out!"
"Oh?" Wufei glanced over with sudden interest, "Is it that spacious, Winner?"
Even as the blond man started to blush slightly at the implications of Wufei's question, Trowa laughed and warned, "I think that had better wait, love. Unless I miss my guess, the look that 'photographer' over there is throwing me spells 'omae o korosu' if we don't follow the plans for a change."
"Hn," Heero snorted even as he adjusted a lens that he wasn't quite satisfied with. "I'm not the one that'll kill you if you don't get a move on, Trowa. The woman overseeing the caterer can get more than a little irritated if things get off-schedule."
Wufei tilted his head in curiosity, he wasn't the only one with surprises for the day. With a growing sense of ill-ease at Heero's words, he finally asked, "And who, pray tell, might that be, Heero? Anyone I know?"
Before the Japanese man could answer, an all-too-familiar voice broke the afternoon quiet and Heero was rewarded with a delightful candid shot of one very shocked former pilot of the Gundams ShenLong and Altron.
"Chang, can't you report for duty on time for a change?" The one-time Lady Une, better known to them all currently as Director Une of the Preventers, was marching towards them, clipboard under one arm.
Recovering slightly, Wufei crossed his arms and regarded her with mild irritation, "Obviously you weren't at the ceremony, were you, onna? My name isn't 'Chang' anymore, it's…"
She cut him off with an angry retort, "It's going to be 'Mud' if you don't hurry up!" Dropping her false anger she held out one hand and said with a smile, "Congratulations to you both, Mr. and Mr. Pax, but really, guys, I need you at the hall, please?"
"Certainly," Trowa accepted the woman's hand and shook it before shrugging and pulling her in for a hug. "Thanks for helping us, Anne. We'll be right there."
Straightening her dress with a slight smile, she nodded, "All right, I'll go back and tell the musicians to start playing. Oh, and Trowa?"
"Ma'am?" The auburn-haired man asked out of habit left over from the times he'd visited Wufei at the Preventers offices as well as their brief time together at the OZ moon base.
Walking away she added with a smirk, "Do something about his hair, wont you? That bun is simply dreadful."
Wufei spluttered angrily for a moment and then calmed as his spouse turned towards him, love shining in his eyes. "May I?" Trowa asked, reaching to remove the pins that held it in place.
Pretending to be annoyed, Wufei remarked, "There is so little respect for tradition. Ah well, if you must, you must. Go ahead, angel."
"Thank you, dragon," Trowa bent down and dropped a kiss to the exposed bronze neck before loosening the bun, allowing a flowing river of jet to cascade down over the black silk robes.
"Much better," Trowa smiled and then asked even as Wufei lifted a handful of hair out of his eyes in annoyance. "By the way, love, why did you insist that we all wear black for this? Not that I mind, it's nice to see something different than the usual white for a wedding."
Wufei nodded even as he gestured for Trowa to follow him as he walked towards the building where their friends were gathering. "I wasn't thinking of that, Trowa, this was my own way of reminding everyone that despite these events taking place on Earth, you and I both came from outer space. The blackness of the void calls to my soul at times almost as much as the legacy of my clan always has."
Trowa sighed knowingly and moved to take his lover's hand as they neared the hall, close enough to hear soft strains of music coming from the building. With a gentle squeeze of his hand, he offered, "Perhaps someday we will return to space, Fei, who knows?"
Wufei smirked a bit as another surprise was revealed, "Actually, Trowa, I already know. I decided that we'd have our honeymoon in space. We leave tonight."
"What?!" Trowa asked in shock, then laughed softly. "Is *that* what you chose for us? And here I thought we'd be on a beach somewhere drinking strange fruity concoctions and getting sunburned. So, which colony are we going to, love? New Eden perhaps?"
"No," Smirking, Wufei shook his head and then said with as much calm as he could muster, "I already told you, we're honeymooning in space, don't make me repeat myself."
Trowa stopped dead and a slow burn crept up his cheeks as he realized what his now chuckling mate had in mind, "You do *not* mean that we're spending our honeymoon *in* space, per se, do you?"
"That's *exactly* what I have in mind, dearest one!" Wufei turned and kissed him hungrily, "Quatre's loaning us his so-called 'space yacht' for a week and with a full crew we can roam anywhere we wish or merely drift and enjoy ourselves. Rather, enjoy each other, I should say."
"But that would mean…" His voice trailed off as the blush intensified and Trowa finally groaned softly, appreciation for what his sneaky husband had planned.
"Oh yes," Wufei nearly purred as he kissed Trowa once more, allowing the tip of his tongue to tease his spouse's lower lip, "I want to find out what it's like to make love to an angel in flight, dearest one. After all, didn't we both mention once that it was almost a shame we hadn't been lovers when we were onboard the Peacemillion?"
Moaning in soft agreement, Trowa pressed back to kiss his love one more time before they returned their attention to getting to the reception before they were accosted by the redoubtable Une, "A zero G rendezvous sounds perfectly intoxicating, love, thank you for thinking of it."
With one last secretive smile, Wufei nodded and recaptured Trowa's hand in his own, saying only, "Today I gave up my name and my katana. Tonight I wish to seek the joy that being together with you alone can give me, Trowa Pax."
"Then you shall have it, Wufei Pax," Trowa smiled, enjoying the sound of their new names rolling from their tongues so easily.
The couple completed the last few steps of their journey to the reception in pleasant silence, but almost immediately they were separated by their enthusiastic friends.
Wufei was pulled away by a young red-haired girl who smiled and introduced him to her friends as "Uncle Wufei," bringing any number of jokes about Mariemaya having way too much extended family and causing Wufei to mentally thank Treize for her presence in his life. Eventually, he found himself surrounded by members of the Preventers, an organization that he himself had left behind earlier that year in favor of opening a small business with Trowa.
Trowa found himself in a discussion with Rasid and the manager from the circus, both of whom were "old married men" and felt obligated to give the newlywed some advice. In the end, though, the younger man found himself pulled into a conversation with both Peacecrafts, Relena commenting on how lovely the ceremony had been and Milliardo asking if he and Wufei might care to visit the terraforming project on Mars.
Time passed pleasantly enough and before long, Duo pulled Wufei free of the various groups that he'd been chatting with and asked him to come with him because there was a surprise waiting.
To Wufei's amazement, Trowa sat prepared to play a duet with Quatre, both young men smiling at him before raising their instruments and beginning to play. The Chinese man simply stood and enjoyed the moment even as it occurred to him that they were playing a familiar piece of neo-classical music simply entitled, "Peace."
At the end of the song, Trowa rose and walked slowly towards his spouse and reached out his free hand which Wufei lifted to his lips and kissed in gratitude.
Trowa's flute reminded Wufei of the now forsaken katana. While it was not curved nor razor sharp, the musical instrument was shining in the afternoon sun, glimmering and reflecting beams of light which sparkled on everyone gathered there.
Times of change called for new symbols and, in his mind at least, Wufei designated the flute as something sacred, a symbol of the newly formed pax clan, perhaps? Only the future might know the answer to that question and the world would not stop and wonder what would happen to these two unique men, it was obvious to anyone who listened to them.
"Happily ever after?" Trowa asked, leaning his head on his husband's shoulder, relishing their stolen moment after the duet had ended.
"That's what it looks like," Wufei answered lightly and then kissed the reddish-brown bangs out of the way before adding, "I wouldn't want it any other way for you, my angel."
"Thank you, my dragon," with a soft sigh Trowa added quietly, "I love you."
"Wo ai ni," Wufei responded, heart filled with joy as their new life truly began.

Author's Notes:
1. This fic is dedicated to the people who entered their votes at [3x5_5x3list] and chose the ultimate ending for this terribly odd Enigma story. Not since "Ninmu shippai" have I let the readers choose my ending, but I wanted to give a gift fic to all my friends there and this is it.
2. FYI: The final tally of the votes from the [3x5_5x3list] following the publication of parts 1 and 2 of this story is shown here for those readers who might be curious how popular their own preferences might have been. Marriage of Wufei to Trowa: 6 votes. Death of Wufei: 2 votes. Heir receives the katana, possible deathfic: 2 votes. Celibacy (ie: Wufei takes a vow that requires he give up sex as well as the sword, I don't know where this came from, but what a cool idea for another fic, ne?): 1 vote.
3. Muse Credit Union: The Greek muse of tragedy, Melpomene, is my angst muse and she started this as a deathfic. Luckily, the Greek muse of lyric poetry and mime, Erato, is my lemon and romance muse and she got to finish it as one of romance and love.
4. I've been asked by several folks to set up an alert system when something of mine is available, so please feel free to sign up at EnigmaFanficUpdates-subscribe@egroups.com!
