The door was locked, which did not come as a surprise to the man that was pounding on it. “Relena! Relena!” he cried, between bouts of pounding the door.
Another man rushed up behind him, shouting “I’ve got the keys, one of them might open this room.”
“I hope that we are not too late!
The other man cursed as he quickly tried to find a key out of the bunch that would fit the lock. “When was the last time that anyone…”
“About a month,” was the taller man’s reply. “I thought that things were going well, but from what the servants told me, this was a disaster from the beginning.”
“And no one decided to tell you or her ‘friends’, that Relena had gone off the deep end?”
“She can be charming when she wants to be and you know the terms…she had free reign over her ‘war prize’.”
“I know,” was the bitter reply. “I am someone else’s toy, because of that.”
“But…”
“But nothing…”, was the protest. “You and your people were the winners in that exchange and you received your own ‘war prize’.”
“But I…”
“You still own him, control him, no matter how long a leash you have him on, he can’t leave that place.”
“I know. And I hate it, because in spite of everything that happened, he is my friend.”
As the argument took place, the shorter of the two men frantically picked the lock to the room that they were trying to get into. As the lock finally gave way, the shorter man stood up and looked his companion calmly in the eyes.
“Just remember I’m not doing this because of orders. Or because I give a damn about your sister…it’s her…’prize’, my friend…that I am worrying about.”
“I understand…because what we’re going to find…”
As the both burst into the room, dreading what they would find. Reports had been sketchy, people not wanting to tell anyone what they thought about one of the new world leaders. That was dangerous, for they had been all ruthless in their pursuit and capturing of their power. So many had remained quiet until whispers of Relena’s strange activities had spread to reach the ears of the one woman that no one wanted to talk to because of her reputation for eccentricity, Dorothy Catalonia. In turn, after Dorothy confirmed the rumors, she sent her own ‘war prize’ Trowa Barton down to deal with Relena in the Sank Kingdom, and instructed Zechs Marquise to accompany him and control his sister for once.
But what they found was something that neither one of them expected.
