Zechs, who had turned back to the confrontation, barely acknowledged the shot or Noin's call. He was focused on Wufei. The expression on the Chinese pilot's face told him that the injury he had landed to Treize was significant.
Wufei lifted the back of his hand to wipe a smear of dark blood that had trickled down his cheek. His eyes glowed crimson and his features were still shifted into a feral cast, but as he slowly straightened, he glanced at Zechs, meeting his eyes fully for the first time.
At that moment Zechs felt Wufei's presence within him, as if the connection had never been broken. In fact it was stronger than before... stronger because his lover felt somehow stronger. It was so clear he could feel thoughts - Wufei's thoughts.
/I had to do it. He may have lied but he said I had to take his blood a second time to be free of his will over mine./
Zechs realized that he was the only one to hear the silent words, sent to him as if through his lover's blazing eyes.
A small smile spread across Zechs' face as he looked into Wufei's crimson eyes. 'Well done,' he thought, feeling whole once again. He glanced over at Treize and for some reason, felt something that almost resembled pity.
Treize met the glance, hand still covering his neck. The very faint smile on his face had something behind it, but it was hard to guess what emotions were masked by the aristocrat's practiced facade. The fact that Zechs could even tell there was something was remarkable enough.
"Zechs!" Noin repeated, exasperation creeping into her voice. Then she looked up at Treize and her face paled as she fell silent.
"Mission Accomplished," Heero muttered. His eyes blinked rapidly and he shook his head. Seeing the fallen scientist, he moved to where the doctor was on the floor. "What did you do, Dr. J?" he whispered.
"We scientists are not needed any more," Dr. J said, coughing. "This is your last mission from me. You will have to find your own missions after that. Heero! The young lady is correct. They will surround the area with advanced mobile dolls, which my colleagues and I created for them on the moon base. The Colonies have been corrupted. You must return to Space."
Heero looked down at the man in his arms. He felt both exasperated and sad. "Roger, that," he said.
Dr. J smiled, and spoke, though a cough muffled his first words. "... a good boy, Heero. Perhaps your mission is not quite accomplished but you don't have time to finish today. Your shot would have been accurate if I still had an organic heart." Pointing to a console nearby, he added, in a weaker voice, "There are space capsules here. But remember, the Gundams are not fitted for space, yet."
A shadow fell over the two and a hand rested on Heero's shoulder as Duo looked down silently.
Not far away, Quatre nodded. There was sense of sadness and loss in the room. He understood it. Looking up at Trowa, he smiled sadly. "We all need to get back to Outer Space, " he said, quietly.
Trowa brushed Quatre's cheek as if by accident. "There's something we have to do before we leave," he said quietly.
Noin felt something very strange starting to emanate from Treize as he listened and watched the pilots and the old scientist. For a moment she felt caught up in it. Then she wrenched her gaze away, took a deep breath and ran over to grab Relena by the hand. "Come on," she said. "I'm going to get you out of here. We've done what we had to do. Now we've got to leave them to do what they have to do." Her eyes strayed to Zechs, wishing he'd look at her just once, but she was suddenly very clear about what she needed to do: protect Relena. That was what she could do for the future of Earth.
"But," Relena began, then stopped herself. She saw the look on Noin's face. Glancing around the room once again, she said, "I'm ready."
Turning his head, Zechs saw his sister and Noin. "Till the next time, Lieutenant," he said.
Her face lit up with a sudden smile, but she simply nodded, feeling finally lighter, freer and able to move. Turning on her heel, she pulled Relena with her, breaking into a run. They had to get to the shuttle she had brought Relena here in, and somehow past the encircling mobile dolls, but she felt she could do it, if only a little luck was with her.
Duo went over to the console Dr. J had indicated, scanning it rapidly. His steps were hurried by the sensation of minute tremors he could feel coming through the ground. He doubted most of the others could even feel them, yet. But they would soon enough.
"The Gundams are on tracks that will load them into transports," he reported to the room in general. "I can set this on a two-minute delay for launch. There's no guarantee we won't be seen and fired on."
Heero sighed, looking up to Duo "I think we can handle that," he said.
"Set it, Duo," Quatre called out.
Treize took a small step backwards, the movement unnoticed by all save one person in the room. Otto's attention had never left his master.
They were going to leave. It wasn't exactly a surprise - a part of Treize had planned and schemed for this very outcome among several possibilities. Nevertheless, the fact of it loomed suddenly like a long, empty night. For a moment a memory flickered to life in his mind, reprising itself like a rerun. The back of a large man, moving onto a space transport...
His hand brushed absently across his neck, flicking away a few bits of dark crusts, leaving healed skin whole beneath. Glancing for a moment at the red-skinned, unwanted gargoyle at his side he felt an exchange of sympathy with the metal beast he'd named Epyon. Destiny could be shunned, it could be ignored, especially by the young... but not forever.
"You'll be back," he said softly, but not inaudibly.
"And you will be here," Zechs said, looking into his commander and onetime friend's eyes.
Treize's blue eyes flickered towards Zechs for a brief moment. One of my finest creations, he thought, a little abstractly. The Pacifist Prince, turned into one of the greatest soldiers of his time. And beside him, perhaps the best creation of all. Wufei Chang, he called himself, but the blood of Dragon Clan royalty was as powerful as my first taste of it, before they left Earth for the first colony.
As if reacting to Treize's thoughts, Wufei turned to Zechs. "I change my mind. I won't leave Nataku here. You'll come to space, Zechs..." It hovered on the edge of being a question, no, an invitation.
"Yes, of course," Zechs replied, as if there had never been any doubt. Reaching out, he gently touched Wufei's neck. Wanting much more, the Lightning Count allowed it to suffice until he had Wufei alone.
Treize took another step backwards, feeling the comfort of shadows starting to enclose him like a cloak. "House self destruct sequence, three minutes. Mark."
Duo looked up sharply from the console he'd been programming. Dr. J coughed and then managed a dry chuckle from where he sat, leaning against a piece of equipment.
"Oh that's just fucking great," Duo growled. Quickly he punched the two-minute launch timer. "Get in your Gundams now, they're about to be sent up to the pods," he called.
Trowa grabbed Quatre's hand and ran over to where Sandrock and HeavyArms were. "When you get in the cockpit, read the scroll," he said urgently. "Destruction is pretty much what *he* wants but you've got to free his spirit before it's sent to oblivion."
"Got it!" Quatre responded. Before heading to his Gundam, he gave Trowa's hand a quick squeeze. "I'll see you in space," he said, softly.
"Don't forget me," Trowa said, and then suddenly kissed Quatre quickly but deeply, before turning away to climb to HeavyArms' cockpit with the agility of an acrobat.
"Never!" Quatre called out as he ascended to Sandrock's cockpit.
Heero looked over at Dr. J. "See ya," he said. "Something tells me you're not finished yet, either, Dr. J." he added, then turned to leave.
Another dry chuckle answered this.
Duo ran over to Deathscythe and climbed up, moving very quickly indeed. After hitting some settings on the console, he said, "Okay, see you up in the long night, old buddy," and jumped down, just as the rack jerked and started to lift towards the opening in the vaulted roof that led to the pods. Sprinting to Wing, he managed to jump on the flight model's foot just as it started to lift also. Scaling the Gundam, he banged on the cockpit. "Open up, dammit!"
The cockpit of Wing opened. "Well don't just stand there, have a seat," Heero offered.
Jumping inside the tiny cockpit, Duo did just that, making himself at home on the only seat available: Heero's lap. Turning toward the face now inches from his, he leered. "Didn't think you were getting out of my sight, did you?" he said.
"Wasn't exactly trying," Heero replied as he leaned forward and kissed Duo deeply.
Wufei gave Zechs a little push towards Tallgeese. "Go. I'll find you."
Ice blue eyes locked onto Wufei's for a moment and then Zechs nodded. Turning, he headed for Tallgeese and space.
The Chinese pilot climbed into the cockpit of Shenlong Gundam, feeling his breath catch for a moment. It was there. For the first time since his initial duel with Treize, he felt a faint touch of the sense of rightness and clarity he'd once thought would never leave him within Nataku's embrace. Closing his eyes as the cockpit sealed and the Gundam began to rise, he reached out with senses that were now instinctive, if still barely fathomed, and sensed the pulse of Zechs' heartbeat, not so very far away after all.
As the Gundams and Tallgeese rose on their tracks, moving through the openings in the vaulted ceiling to the space pods, Treize watched them until they were out of sight. Without turning to look at the man beside him, he said, "Take Epyon and make sure Romefeller's mobile dolls don't have a chance to stop them from making it off Earth."
Otto's eyes widened, and then he bowed his head. "Yes sir," he said, then hesitated for a moment. "The lady?"
"I presume she's still in a coma," Treize said, his gaze unfocused. "Leave her to me." [1]
Otto bowed more deeply and then climbed into Epyon's cockpit, which opened for him.
Noin and Relena made it through the ranks of mobile dolls in part through Noin's skill as a pilot, in part through luck, and in part because the sudden takeoff of six pods heading for space took the automated fighters totally by surprise, as did the appearance of the crimson Gundam with a demon's shape and a frightening penchant for destruction.
Once outside the battle area, Noin brought up some of the shuttle's monitors on the coordinates of the house, just in time to see a series of explosions within the structure. They were powerful enough to take out the closest ranks of mobile dolls. Scanning the images for she wasn't quite sure what, her eye was caught by a tiny figure, that seemed to move stiffly through the collapsing wreckage, arms lifted as though it were carrying something. Her mind screamed, 'Treize', but there was something about the way the figure moved that belied that impression. A nearby explosion threw light on the tiny figure for only a few seconds but the image that it revealed would stay with Noin for a long time, coming back to her in the wee hours of the morning when sleep refused to stay.
The figure appeared to be wrapped in linen, identical to one she had seen once before in the desert, and held in its arms the figure of a woman with soft brown hair, a pair of glasses dangling from one hand.
There was no explanation for it, and it was gone in an instant, but it would not leave Noin's consciousness. It reminded her of a set of lost frames from some ancient forgotten relic of pre-colony cinema.
Once they reached escape altitude, Duo used Heero's console to contact the pod Deathscythe was in and bring it alongside, using magnetic docking grapplers to join the two pods together. That done, he turned to look at his human flight couch.
Sliding his hands around Heero's face, he closed his eyes and allowed himself to relax and indulge in a deep, long, and reasonably pornographic kiss.
Heero's arms tightened around Duo's body as they kissed. Alone with Duo again, he felt the world and his surroundings slip away. His body settled and then relaxed as he focused on the kiss. A long while later, he opened his eyes slowly. "Hi," he said, simply, as he brushed back the mass of Duo's hair. He liked it down and free, especially when they were alone.
"Hi," Duo replied, a slow smile stealing across his face as he deliberately took deep breaths to replenish depleted oxygen. He slid the fingers of one hand deeply into Heero's thick mop of dark brown hair. He simply gazed at Heero, studying the Japanese boy's beautiful features. After a little while, he said, "So it's later. Before we fuck like minks, you got anything you want to tell me? Like what Dr. J really did to you, and why you shot him and then looked surprised...?"
"A lot," the Japanese pilot replied. "He gave me injections and he brought me back to life... more than once," he added as his hands moved back down around Duo's waist.
Duo blinked. "Brought you... hey, Heero, the Frankenstein thing was just a joke, ok?" He frowned, looking into Heero's deep blue eyes, searching for some clue as to what Heero was thinking. He felt a slight constriction in his chest and swallowed, annoyed at his body for choosing this moment to distract him.
Heero's hands slid up Duo's back and then down, as he remembered. "It's ok, Duo," he said. Looking into the violet eyes, he shook his head. "That part, I suspected. Being the monster, I mean. Nevertheless, he had some reason for keeping me alive. Even if it did turn out to be as an instrument later on," Heero said.
"Hmm." Duo was quiet for a moment as he continued to look into Heero's face, weighing what he saw there. "You are not a monster. Are you listening to me? Get this. You. Are. Not. A monster."
The corner of Heero's mouth lifted as he brought Duo against his chest for a tight hug. "That's what Dr. J said. He kept calling me a good boy. He understands me better than I did," he said. Leaning back, he looked into Duo's eyes again. He has to know this, he thought. "Listen, Duo. I've always had this thing inside of me. It's like a little voice telling me that I shouldn't be here, that I shouldn't be alive. When I jumped off that building, it wasn't the first time. Dr. J did things to stop me."
Duo's expression darkened. It had the effect of changing his features from almost elfin to slightly demonic. "Things, huh?" He tilted his head, considering. "So I wasn't nuts. You like to take opportunities to get yourself killed." He reached up and ran his thumb slowly along the curve of Heero's jaw. "That stops now, Heero." His voice was quiet, but there was a tight vibration under it. "Otherwise, you try that again, I'm going to follow you. Life is too precious to throw away, but I'm getting damn sick and tired of people leaving me when it gets rough, like the last person at the restaurant getting stuck with the check."
"Yeah," Heero growled. His fingers slid down Duo's spine and over the curves of his hips. There was something about the way Duo's voice and expression got when he was deadly serious and pissed off that Heero secretly liked. His body reacted in accordance with his feelings and he squirmed a little in his seat. "Ok," he added. "It would be a waste to take you out of the world."
Leaning forward, he kissed Duo deeply.
Waste my ass, Duo thought, as he returned the kiss savagely. If I have to come after you, you'll know what hell is really all about.
His body, too, was reacting to the nearness of the other pilot, his sense of smell telling him in no uncertain terms that Heero was getting turned on. That message was reinforced by what he could feel under his rear. Shifting slightly, he straddled Heero's lap, folding his legs along the outside of Heero's thighs. This placed him in the perfect position to rub his body against Heero, feeling the stretch and strain of two garments, each trying to contain body parts that definitely wanted a lot more room than they had.
Heero inhaled sharply at the contact of Duo's body against his own. His hips rocked as he felt the temperature in the cockpit rise. Sliding his fingers under the tight black top, Heero felt the warmth of his lover's skin. Moving his hands down, he worked them into the back of the dark pants and along Duo's slim hips.
The mouth that had moved down to settle against Heero's neck, nuzzling and licking, curved into a smile that he could feel against his skin. "Is that a buster rifle in your spandex shorts or are you just happy to see me?" Duo murmured without lifting his head. Coming up on his knees a little, he tilted his hips back to give Heero more to play with.
Heero briefly freed his hand and wet two of his fingers. "Both," he replied, sliding the wet fingers back into Duo's pants. His fingers separated Duo's hips as he ran the wetness along the deep divide of the braided pilot's rear. Seeking and finding the small opening, the Japanese pilot slipped his digits inside. There was a little resistance before Duo's body relaxed completely and accepted the intrusion.
Duo nipped Heero's neck hard enough to sting. Lifting his head, he looked down and Heero could see that Duo's wide violet eyes were clouding with lust. "Ngh," he made a little noise in his throat, lifting, then easing down further. "So you think you're gonna be on top this time, hmm?" The smile was wicked, but Duo's eyelids were starting to droop as he concentrated on the sensations from below.
Sliding his fingers in and out of Duo's body faster, Heero leaned up and kissed Duo again. "My... cock..pit," Heero managed as he kissed Duo's neck.
"Son of a bitch," Duo half growled, half laughed as he stretched his neck to give Heero more room. He began rocking on Heero's lap with the movement inside him. Each movement rubbed him against Heero in front as well and he made the most of it.
Feeling perspiration trickle down his brow, Heero felt suspended between his lover's moving body rubbing against him and the sensation of Duo's tight, warm rear. He licked at Duo's neck, closing his mouth around the soft flesh as he felt his body move in time with the American boy. He had thought to suspend this and peel Duo's clothes off completely, but that thought died with the fierce movement of the braided pilot's hips. "You... bastard," Heero managed, affectionately. His body was close to its peak. "You always... get me," he added, closing his eyes.
"I will," Duo answered, looking down with a light in his eyes that spoke of a hunger not easily satisfied. Sliding his arms from around Heero's shoulders, he reached down and began peeling the stretchy black pants down, shifting his position for long enough to get them off completely and then return. Then he reached in between them and into Heero's shorts to free the swollen flesh trapped there, stroking it. His movement had dislodged Heero's fingers and he slanted a feral grin at the Japanese boy. "Ok, your turn first. But you're going to pay for it."
Heero had no words to protest. Feeling Duo's hand around him, Heero barely held onto his sanity. Moving his hands around Duo's rear again, he positioned his lover at the correct angle and slowly, slid him down on his lap. Moistening his lips with his tongue, Heero growled again, feeling the warm tightness envelope him completely. "Duo," he whispered, thrusting forward into his lover's body.
A groan answered him, as Duo's hands settled on his shoulders with a near-painful grip. Duo closed his eyes, arched his back, and moved with his lover, escalating the rhythm little by little, as the intrusion of Heero's flesh brought waves of pleasure. The anger, doubt and uncertainty of the last day and night evaporated, leaving only the heat between them. A cry burst out of Duo's throat as Heero brought him to the crest and over.
Heero's arms tightened around Duo, as his heartbeat escalated. He felt his lover's climax throughout his own body. Closing his eyes, Heero felt his own body give over as he filled Duo's body with his essence. Moments later, he leaned up and kissed Duo hungrily as he held the violet eyed pilot against his lap.
Duo eased down slowly into Heero's arms, his hands releasing the tight grip and sliding along Heero's shoulders and back. Eyes half closed, he nuzzled Heero's cheek and neck, and then unthinkingly rubbed his jaw along Heero's like he had done once before. Making a little soft noise in his throat, he relaxed, letting his breathing slow down.
"Death not an option," Heero said, softly. "God of Death, my only option," he added, rubbing the back of Duo's neck.
A muffled chuckle answered him. "Glad I don't have to keep beating you over the head with it," Duo murmured, his head dropping onto Heero's shoulder as he surrendered to the caress. His eyes opened and he gazed at the curve of Heero's shoulder and chest. "I don't know who threw you away, but they can't have you back any more. Mine."
"They didn't throw me away," Heero said, settling into his seat. A small frown appeared between his brow as a long locked memory came to fore. "I ... I was sick," he continued. Staring into nothingness, he saw faces above him. They were just out of focus and he couldn't make out what they were saying "Hn," Heero said, feeling the present return. "I'd forgotten that."
Duo's attention sharpened with Heero's first words and he leaned back a little so he could watch the Japanese boy's face as he talked. He reached up and brushed a thick lock of hair back from his lover's face. "Something tells me that's not the only thing you've forgotten, is it, Heero?" Duo said slowly, keeping his voice calm and reassuring.
Heero sighed. "No," he said. "Dr. J. said that I'll be able to remember more, in time." Sliding his hands over Duo's back, Heero unconsciously confirmed that he and his lover were real.
Looking down at Duo, he shook his head. "I'm afraid I've been highly resistant to the idea that I'm human. I feel pain, I have emotions, but there's a lot about me that defies the definition of human."
Duo leaned forward and kissed Heero deeply. Then he sat back and licked his lips consideringly. "Well, you taste human," he said and gave Heero a small grin. Almost idly, he added, "So... Doc J told you you'd remember more in time. Is he the reason you didn't remember more to begin with?"
A corner of Heero's mouth lifted. "Yeah," he said, "But I'm thinking that it might not have been such a bad thing, especially since he mentioned having to revive me from the dead."
Something behind Duo's eyes darkened but he kept his face relaxed. "Do you remember why he had to do that?"
Heero looked down again. "Trauma," he said, needing no memory jog to recall the tern. "Subject prone to violent outbursts," Heero said. "I stole a chart once and read it."
Duo watched Heero for a long moment. "There's more to this," he said, and then shrugged. "There's more to you. So how did you end up in the not-so-good doctor's care, do you remember that?"
Heero paused a moment. "I was with Odin Lowe after wandering the streets. He was an assassin. He taught me a lot. After he died, I was with Dr. J." he said.
Even as the words left Heero's mouth, the mental images that had accompanied them, supplied on cue and for some reason always a little flat and oddly lacking in variation, seemed to peel a little around the edges. It wasn't enough to show Heero what was behind them, but it was enough to shift reality just a little, unsettle it.
Duo continued to watch Heero, seeing his eyes unfocus for a moment. He decided that was enough probing into his lover's past for the moment. "Interesting name," he commented, as if it weren't important. Then he shifted a little on Heero's lap. "Hmm... sticky," he murmured, and a wicked sparkle appeared in his eyes. The next thing Heero knew, Duo was sliding out of his lap and down, starting a rather primal grooming process on the affected part of Heero's anatomy. Since the bunched-up spandex was in the way, Duo's deft fingers began pulling it off as well.
Heero's eyes closed for a moment as he felt the sensations move through his body. He lifted his hips to accommodate the removal of his clothing, then slipped his fingers into Duo's wild mane of hair. "You know," he began, licking his lips. "I told you to remember those things... the light switch stuff. "
"Mm hmm," Duo's voice was slightly muffled as he continued 'grooming' his lover's.... 'coat'.
"It's a little more complicated than I first thought," Heero said, feeling his body firming at his lover's lap bath.
"Mmm," Duo acknowledged, filing the comments away. Once Heero was nice and... clean, Duo began pulling Heero's tank top over his head. Since his legs were no longer clamped around Heero's body, he started to drift in the weightless cockpit, using his hands to cling to Heero as he resumed the 'bath' along the Japanese boy's chest.
Heero looked down to see Duo slowly moving up his body. "Is this part of the 'get back' you promised?" he asked.
Duo chuckled softly and licked one of Heero's nipples until it was firm. "Could be. And what about my thank you?"
"I think," Heero said, watching Duo's hair drift around the cockpit, "...we could make this one in the same." Reaching down, he cupped Duo's face, bringing Duo up for a deep kiss.
A short while later, he looked into violet eyes. "I never believed Dr. J, but with you, it's easy to believe I'm human." he said.
Duo slid his hands around Heero's face and kissed him again. "Good," he said, brushing his nose against the tip of Heero's nose. Then he smiled. "Human... and very... hot, that's what you are." Then he sighed a little. "We're going to be back at work before we know it, I guess," he said. "But for right now..." He pulled Heero up out of the seat so he could wrap his arms around him and join their bodies together. There wasn't much room, and that was putting it mildly, but without gravity, what space there was could be more fully utilized.
Heero held on to Duo tightly. "Yeah, now we're just Frankenstein and the Werewolf in Space," he said.
"That's wolf man to you," Duo grinned, rubbing his body along Heero's. He leaned close and nibbled Heero's ear. "And something about being alone with you is making me very very hungry..."
Slowly, Duo ran the tip of his tongue around the edge of Heero's ear. With one arm around Heero's waist, he rubbed his body against Heero's, letting the Japanese boy feel how he was getting bigger again, transferring heat with the contact.
Heero's eyelids drooped as he looked into Duo's eyes. Leaning forward, he kissed Duo's lips, then gently pried his mouth open with his tongue requesting entry. Closing his eyes completely, Heero deepened the kiss as he put his arms around Duo's neck.
Duo made a low, muffled sound in his throat as they kissed. He ran his hands along Heero's body, stroking his sides, his back, and slowly circling the hemispheres of Heero's rear with his palms, fingers spread wide. Then he pulled the curves apart gently and probed the cleft with dexterous fingers, seeking that puckered opening that would let him into the heat of his lover's body.
Heero's back arched slightly at the touch. Using his hands, he turned in Duo's arms to allow him better access.
Duo chuckled softly as the movement took Heero's mouth away. Then he kissed the nape of Heero's neck, feeling further aroused by the beautiful lines of Heero's back in front of him. He slid one arm around Heero's waist, his fingers finding and circling the Japanese boy's cock. His other hand slid along Heero's back to find the opening he had been seeking, and penetrated it with insistent fingers. He rubbed himself against Heero's hip as he pushed his fingers deeper, seeking the pleasure spot.
Heero's eyes closed as he felt Duo's hand move over his reawakened organ. His mouth parted slightly, inhaling deeply as the double sensation of Duo's fingers moving inside of him and the growing hardness at his hip held him suspended. Being in zero-g only heightened the experience. Leaning his head back to contact more of Duo's body, Heero said, "Nothing... feels like you do."
Duo answered with a low growl of his own enjoyment as he watched and experience Heero's reactions. Slipping his fingers out, he pulled Heero back against him and slowly entered his lover, another low sound of pleasure vibrating his throat as he was enclosed, tightly gripped in a velvety heat. Rotating in the tiny space, they began their dance, joined together, skin sliding against skin.
Heero swallowed hard. Feeling his beautiful lover fill him, the Japanese pilot opened his eyes barely registering the contours of his cockpit. Reaching up, he held on to one of the suspension beams, feeling his temperaure rise. Following Duo's rhythm, he pushed back impaling himself on Duo's hardness. He loved the closeness and the electric violence of the act. Inside, he knew that he was not a person to be taken easily. He had defenses that were strong and built up over his short lifetime. What he had not counted on, however, was the single minded deternination of a certain violet eyed Gundam pilot. From their first encounter, Duo had breeched his long-standing defenses and had drawn him out with his persistance and planet-sized heart. Heero had not been allowed to retreat to his emotional fall-back position. With Duo, he didn't want to and when the time came, his surrender to the braided pilot was negotiated without conflict. Alone in the quiet darkness of space, Heero reached up, hooked his arm around Duo's neck again and pulled him down for another kiss.
The kiss was brief, but heated, as Duo's hands tightened on Heero's body, moving them against each other as he rocked inside. He stroked Heero's cock in time with his thrusts, licking Heero's neck and shoulder, immersing himself in the incredible sensation, and the presence, the scent and warmth of his lover. His body moved faster as he felt Heero begin to shudder in his arms, climaxing in a contained little explosion inside his lover.
A little smile played across Heero's mouth as he leaned back against Duo. He felt his pounding heart slow as he closed his hand over Duo's, sharing the essence of his body now coating both of their hands. "I liked that," Heero said.
Duo nuzzled Heero's neck, sighing softly. Moving slowly as his muscles relaxed in the afterglow, he slipped out of Heero's body and moved around until they were face to face, sliding his arms around Heero to hold him close. He kissed his lover slowly, savoring Heero's taste. Afterwards, he buried his nose in Heero's thick locks of hair.
After a little while, he began talking softly. "I wonder what it will be like now. The moon is closer, but it took going to Earth to make so many things happen. I guess there's no way to tell. But, Heero... if we make it through all of this, you know you're never gonna be able to get rid of me, right?"
Cobalt blue eyes locked onto Duo's large violet ones. "Roger that," he said, leaning in to deep kiss Duo again.
The kiss quickly turned both pornographic and comforting at the same time. A bit later, Duo licked his lips and nodded. "Long as we're clear on that," he said, and then smiled. It wasn't a patented Duo grin. It was a smile, that started small and moved quietly across his face, opening doors that normally were kept tightly locked, letting out a light that seemed to have a purity reminiscent of innocence.
Curled around Heero's body, with Heero curled around him, they rested in the most comfortable bed that never existed: zero-gravity. Duo glanced at the wide cockpit screen beside them where a slow rotation brought the Earth in to dominate the view, before allowing it to slide away leaving the star-sprinkled backdrop to the metallic glint of colonies here and there, and, larger than from Earth, but shy and dull after her spectacular blue-white big sister, the moon.
He'd once said it looked like a graveyard from space, but for some reason it didn't look like that now. It was different... it didn't have the same glow of light that romanced him on Earth, but it demurely revealed yet another personality to the violet-eyed boy.
"We're not the same either," Duo murmured softly. He rubbed his cheek against Heero's for the pleasure of doing it. "And not just us two. All five of us have changed. And what the hell was Treize really after, huh?" He sighed softly, knowing it for a rhetorical and unanswerable question for the moment. Perhaps period. "Whatever it was, when we've done what has to be done here, I'm going back. I've still got questions that need answers." He thought about asking Heero if he was okay with that, but decided against it. He already knew the answer. From now on, any separation between them was going to be temporary.
For his part, the Japanese pilot had all the answers that he wanted at this moment. He tightened his arms around Duo and held on for as long as time would allow.
Twined together, inside a metal skin around a bubble of air, returned home for however long it might be, the two boys slept and walked in dreams.

[1] If Lady Une was in a coma, who was the mysterious woman that Relena and Duo encountered in the House? Good question. Something I have wondered about ever since seeing Gundam Wing episode 28, 'Passing Destinies'. It is established in the series previously that Lady Une was shot by Tsubarov on the moon base. She is seen being shipped back to Earth, and later Treize visits her in a hospital room and it is mentioned or implied that she is in a coma... so who is the shadowy figure standing behind Treize as he muses, in Passing Destinies? A close look reveals that even though the face is shadowed, it is recognizably a woman with straight brown hair, wearing a blue dress with white collar and cuffs, the same outfit Une is seen wearing elsewhere.
Another mystery for the list. ^__~
