A young woman looked at herself in the mirror. ‘Yes,’ she thought to herself. ‘Today shall be the day.’ Today, she would go to her true love and tell him how much she adored him since the moment she saw his handsome image. How she loved to say his name, how it rolled off her tongue like silk. She would confess how she watched him silently, oh so silently, but only to make sure he was safe. Oh sure, they had had their differences, their hard times, but that would all be clouded once their true feelings were professed. ‘He will understand, he must. He must!’ The young woman glanced at herself once more and then headed off for her car. She would need to hurry, mustn't keep her destiny waiting.
As the young woman started off for her destination, two young men held each other close as only lovers could. One ran his hand through the other’s tousled hair, while the other fondled the other’s chest. They kissed, murmured, sighed and whispered contently. No battles. No fighting. No laptop computers. Just them and the silence.
“I love you, love you..” one said, kissing his lover’s cheek.
“Mm...” replied quietly the other as he returned the kiss.
But soon the moment was to be shattered, as one certain blonde young lady burst in. Eyeing the one she came to claim, she noticed the other boy.
“What are you doing here?!” she demanded, her frosty blue eyes clouded over with craze.
“He was invited here, thank you very much!” interrupted the other boy.
“Oh,” she seemed to calm down a bit. Her eyes went back to the one she came for. “I have come to tell you something, my love.”
The boy looked at the girl, “ ‘My love?’ Since when am I your love?”
“Oh, but that’s what I wanted to tell you. I love you, have loved you, since the moment I saw you. And you love me too, don’t you? Tell me you love me, tell me you care. I know you must.”
The boy sighed, he felt sorry for the girl but couldn’t lie. “I’m sorry, but I love someone else,” he looked at the other boy. “Surely there might be someone else-”
His sentence was never finished, for the young woman had left, crying her way to her car. The boy had moved to go after her, but the other young man stopped him.
“But shouldn’t I go make sure she won’t do anything…”
“She’s strong,” said the boy, “she’ll be alright. I haven’t known Dorothy to do anything stupid. She’ll find another, Quarte.”
Pale brows, still hands and dim hair,
I had a beautiful friend And dreamed that the old despair
Would end in love in the end:
She looked in my heart one day And saw your image was there;
She has gone weeping away.
