Part 8: Christmas Shopping

December 213AC

"Oooh! Look at these! Let's get some of these, huh?"

"No."

"Hmphf. Oh! Wow! Look! Look! I haven't seen these in years! Let's get some of these!"

"No."

"What about these? These are so cool! Can't we at least get one?"

Heero sighed heavily and leveled his lover with a not-so-patient-and-loving glare. "Duo..." he said lowly, nearly growling. "We are here to get Christmas presents for the *kids*." In his fist was a fastly crumpling piece of paper. "No where, I repeat, *no* *where* on this list does it say *anything* about water bazookas, foam baseball bats, big bouncy balls, mobile suit model kits, Final Fantasy IXK, or silly putty."

Large violet eyes turned on the Japanese man. "Ne, Hee-chan... just *one*?" Duo pleaded, holding up one red plastic, egg-shaped container. "Ple~ease?"

Later that night in a spare bedroom in the Whispering Pines Manor (aka the home of the Chang-Yuy-Maxwell Family that wasn't very good at "whispering" at all...)

"Heero?" Wufei called rather bemusedly.

"Hmm?" The Japanese man didn't bother to take his concentration away from the intricacies of the colorful magical forest wrapping paper as he tried to strategically maneuver it over a rather large box boasting some stuffed doll with yellow yarn hair and one front tooth.

"Who's this for?" Wufei asked, lifting a rather large and heavy bag. Cobalt blue eyes looked up, caught sight of the bag in question, briefly met onyx depths before flitting away back to the 'mission' at hand.

"Right," Wufei mumbled, sighing as he dropped the bag to the back of the pile of presents that needed to be wrapped before any sneaky hands and eyes could get to them. "Remind me not to let you go out shopping with Duo again."

"Acknowledged," Heero replied, a tiny smile pulling at his own lips as he taped the last corner into place.
