Part 5: Holiday Hook-ups

Winter 225AC

"MARA JADE!!!!"

"What?" the eighteen-year old called back, not bothering to lift her bright violet eyes from the book she was reading. It had been an early Christmas present from Tristan Winner and the dark-haired girl couldn't seem to put it down.

Trinity came stomping into the room, looking mad as hell. "Mara Jade, did you, or did you *not* take my music book?"

"Not," the girl replied calmly, turning a page.

"Dammit all to--well then, *where* is it?"

Mara Jade sighed, lower the book a fraction to look at her older sister. "Have you asked Dylan? Maybe *he's* seen it?"

"DYLAN!!!" Trinity had already turned and was out the door.

The phone jangled and Mara Jade answered without looking. "Chang-Yuy-Maxwell Madhouse, Mara Jade speaking, how may I help you?"

"Yes, I'd like a serving of Trinity with a side order of whip cream and sprinkles."

"Hello, Adrian, what's up?"

"Not much, Mara J," Adrian Peacecraft replied, his grin in his voice. "Hey, where's the view?"

"Huh? Oh, sorry, I'm on the tele. Hold on a sec," she said, jumping up and heading over to the desk. She put the call through to the vid-phone, grinning into the screen. "So, when you gonna ask my sister out on a date?"

Sure enough, Adrian was smiling on the other end. "Is your dad still threatening to kill anyone who keeps her out a minute past curfew?"

"Heard 'bout that, huh?" Mara Jade propped her chin up on her fist, her violet eyes twinkling.

Adrian threw his dark head back, inky-blue bangs falling free from his laughing sapphire eyes. "Is there anyone alive who hasn't?"

"MARA J!!! He says he didn't take it, now where is it?!" Trinity pulled up short at the door. 'Who is it?' she mouthed.

"Ah, here she is, Adrian. See ya later!" Mara Jade responded, getting up.

"Sure thing, babe, you coming tonight?" he called after her.

"Do I have much of a choice?" she called back as her sister slipped into the chair.

"Adrian! Have you seen my music book?"

"You mean the one you brought over here last night and left?" he asked, holding up said music box.

"Yes! Oh, thank god! I was looking all over for it!"

"Yeah, I figured you'd've noticed it by now."

"Arrhh! You... If I was there right now, I'd hit you!" Trinity growled, frown-pouting.

Adrian just continued to smile at her. "Oh, yeah? There's a couple of things that I could think of doing that would be a lot more fun, but," he shrugged. "If you're into that sorta thing, well, then, hell! I'm always up for something new!"

"Adrian!" Trinity's cheeks flooded.

"Hey," Adrian leaned in close. "Did I ever tell you how pretty you look when you're blushing?"

"Every time you embarrass the hell outta me."

"Good."

"Trin-baby? Who's on the phone?"

"Just Adrian, Daddy!"

"Oh? What's he want? Has he asked you out yet?" [snickering]

"DAD!!!!"
